I strongly dislike being greeted with "Hey there" in an email or in person. It seems friendly and innocuous but it comes off as condescending to me, like I'm a kid who's getting a pat on the head.
Mine is inspired by the GIF and is kind of part UO and part confession. The hobbit movies were terrible, not only did they destroy the source material but if you ignored that and took them as standalone movies they were just bad fantasy/action films. For the confession part: ever since my SIL told me she really liked them I’ve started being skeptical on her opinions on everything 🤷🏻♀️

@varimama I don't really care for the Hobbit/LOTR movies either. My college boyfriend was obsessed with them, though. He would get SO pissed at me if/when I fell asleep while we were watching them.
I find it disgusting that people put their wedding rings on their pee sticks for pictures. I don't get the logic of I peed on something so now I'm going to put what may be the most important piece of jewelry I own and put on there. Then after I take the picture I'm going to put it back on my hand. Gross!

@celticknotfire I don't get that either! I thought maybe that's supposed to help with getting the camera to focus or maybe it helps pictures turn out more true to IRL since I know lots of people claim they squint and see something but you can't do that with an image. What is the purpose????

@celticknotfire I've never heard of this! (I haven't perused the 1st trimester pee stick thread that much tho). Just fell down a BabyCenter rabbit hole where someone asked about it and a bunch of people were like "you're just jealous of married people/people with nicer rings than you") It was worthwhile. It seems like it is to focus the camera on the lines?
@emeraldduchess I do like the LOTR ones bc I feel like where they fell away from the source material it mostly made sense or wasn’t egregious (for the most part). Even as a fan I’ve fallen asleep during them though so I can’t blame ya 🤣 After his success with the first trilogy Peter Jackson decided to be a psycho and turn the shortest book into its own 3 movies so he made up a bunch of nonsense and tried to tie in stuff that didn’t belong 🤷🏻♀️

I take pics of the sticks I pee on but it’s more for myself than anything, I would never share it with people publicly. I hate when pee sticks are included in pregnancy announcements. I also don’t get adding the rings at all. If it is about focusing then there has to be something else you can use...

I also hate the Hobbit movies. Only watched the first one, though, because it was so bad. I’m fine with LOTR, but wasn’t a big fan when my college roommate wanted to watch all three extended versions in a weekend. It was just too much.
The wedding ring on the pee stick thing baffles me. As does any form of announcing with a pee stick. *TW* SIL announced she was KU with my niece by having my nephew pass the pee stick around at a family party. */TW*
@mercury94 trying to be general to this story but *TW* anyway
Apparently when my cousin announced their 2nd... I'm pretty sure my mom said the story went that cousin and his wife showed them (being my aunt and uncle) the pee stick. And based on timeline (considering my sister's own knowledge of when she found out about hers and that her due date was 2 days after them) it almost seemed like she (cousin's wife) went to the bathroom, POAS, came out and showed it to them. My sister had found out like right before 4th of July last year and my aunt and uncle found out about grandkid #2 at their 4th of July party so that pee stick was probably not more than a week old 🤢

Judging by the comments on here, I think my UO is that I liked The Hobbit Trilogy, lol. But I was never a hardcore enough fan to really care how true the story was to the books, I just enjoyed the visual effects and the action. I didn't fall asleep in the Hobbit, unlike LotR (and I saw both trilogies in theatres when they were showing the 3 films back to back to back. 17hrs for LotR when RotK was released and 14hrs for The Hobbit).

@chichiphin when I first read that I said " that's absurd, who'd get pink eye?" And then I thought about the fact that when I POAS I just wipe it with a tissue after I put the cap on! It's not sanitized in any shape or form - oh God!

I personally REALLY dislike musical theater (with the exception of opera). I was exposed to a lot of it in my teens, but I always found it so ostentatious and over-the-top that I couldn't enjoy a moment. I guess it just seems...unnatural?
To this day, I can't enjoy musical movies-- and I will turn them off immediately once it gets too much for me to handle (usually within a few minutes). I will have to add that I don't mind the occasional musical interlude (if it is cleverly executed).
