@lillywonderland you're cruel!!! How are we supposed to eat all our hummus and veggies and fresh fruit salad when you're over here compiling a thread of temptation!!!
@RedBreast35 Selfishly I want some inspo for this weekend - we’re doing a Father’s Day bbq with my IL’s and I want a new recipe!! I need to “present” a few options to DH for his approval.
Also, when I say present a few options for his approval I mean show him pictures and have him pick. He’s the PICKIEST DESSERT EATER EVER and sometimes I think he’s not human. Last night he asked for half (!!) of an ice cream sandwich. WHO THE FUCK ONLY EATS HALF?!?!?
@lillywonderland lol wut? Half of an ice cream sandwich? Um I have a hard time just eating one!
@cmdesigner Um pumpkin pie whoopie cookies? I need them. Can you come live with me???
I am a horrible cook and basically never bake. I'm really lucky that DH enjoys to. My go to dessert is strawberry shortcake. I obviously buy the cake and then make a yummy strawberry puree. So easy and good. If I am actually going to bake, I make Better Than Sex Cake: https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/better-than-sex-cake
@lillywonderland HALF an ice cream sandwich? Weirdo! A friend's husband only drinks half a beer bottle then has a special little cap that he puts on it and sticks it back in the fridge... I don't trust that guy.
I'm usually the app or salad person. I make a mean Greek orzo pasta salad and a buffalo chicken mac & cheese. I always have to bring this (super easy) dip to family gatherings too:
I've never been a big dessert eater or baker, but my go-to is pineapple upside down cake. I used this recipe for cupcakes for a BBQ last weekend and they went FAST - I think this is going to be my new staple!
I'm the pie master in my family. Well, apprentice, technically. My grandfather is the OG. I try to make a couple of new and exciting pies each holiday. My favorite is Chocolate Chess Pie. Fan favorites are Banana Caramel Pie and Peanut Butter Pie.
I'll throw out a healthy option as I always bring this for myself (and enough for others) since everyone else brings the other stuff. Super easy and yummy nut butter cookies. Just a cup of nut butter, an egg and a little honey. You can add chopped up dried fruit too or dark chocolate. Bake.
First things, first. @lillywonderland HALF an ice cream sandwich? WTF.
I am not a baker or stellar cook by any means, so I have no signature dish or dessert. I will just sit here salivating over everything you all post and hope that one day, I get the motivation to start doing more fun stuff in the kitchen! I do make a decent buffalo chicken dip though, but kudos really go to the crock pot, so...
@cammie0526 I'm gonna need both the Orzo pasta salad and buffalo mac n cheese recipes, please and thank you!

@janat1717 get out of here with that healthy dessert actually it sounds delicious
@cammie0526 ok I know this is a dessert thread but I need that Greek orzo pasta salad recipe. That sounds RIGHT up my ally!
@cmdesigner French silk pie with Oreo crust? Holy heaven.
@zuuls_mom 100% same. I almost didn’t open this thread because I knew it would leave me jonesing for ridiculous sweet. And now I’m literally drooling in the DFW airport dreaming of French silk pie
Grain-free Avocado Sweet Potato Brownie Bites (I made these
a while ago and loved them! They are so moist and the perfect size, and healthy, right?! I used
really good chocolate to offset the potential bitterness.)
@zuuls_mom & @nomangos23 The orzo salad is so easy, there's not even a real recipe - just chop up stuff you like and mix it together! I usually do a whole box of cooked orzo, a 5oz bag of baby spinach torn up, feta, cherry tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, diced cucumber, red onion, artichokes, diced pepperoncini, and grilled chicken (shredded rotisserie chicken works too). Then the key lazy ingredient: about half a bottle of Olive Garden Italian dressing. The end
Just added all of the linked recipes to my Pinterest board! Yay!!
If I’m supposed to bring a dessert to anything, people usually ask for cake. One of my go-to recipes is a chocolate stout cake. It always comes out moist and delicious. It’s also sturdy which makes it good for layering and/or tiers. https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/chocolate-stout-cake-107105/amp
I’ll post some good recipes from my recipe book tomorrow, but during our time living in TN, I was introduced to two of my most favorite recipes ever!
The first is Jiffy’s Cornbread Casserole which is like a sweeter, more delicious in-freaking-credible version of cornbread that you eat with a spoon instead of your hands. https://site.jiffymix.com/spoon-bread-casserole/

I present to you one of my Fall/Winter staples: The Baked Pumpkin Donut. It is THE BEST!!
You’re welcome! 😉

I never get asked to bring dessert to gatherings… But here are my favorite desserts to make!
Boston Cream Poke Cake (sooooo easy and delicious. A little on the rich side.)

Raspberry Pretzel Jello Dessert (I’ve seen some people serve this as a side instead of a dessert. I love the sweet and salty!)

Strawberry Jello Angel Food Cake (This one is super light. I usually eat 2 pieces even after stuffing my face beforehand lol)
