FTM: What is one summer activity you can’t wait to share with your LO? Our family rents a huge beach house every summer in the OBX and it's when all of the cousins get together and have a blast. I can't wait to see her on the beach next year!

How are you feeling?: My pelvis is killing me. We had a graduation party to attend yesterday and by the time I got home I could barely walk. Ended up taking a nap yesterday afternoon and getting absolutely nothing done that I wanted to get done because I just physically couldn't move.
Rants/Raves:
Rant: Excuse me while i complain that my husband knew, for a month, that we had our ultrasound next week at 10am and just now went to block his schedule only to find out his 10am had been blocked out by a strategy meeting with their CTO (very rare and important). Now he can't reschedule and has to be in the office that day which means I had to move everything around on my schedule to get the US appointment on Wednesday. So, much to my chagrin we are no booked solid with appointments on Wednesday and I have to use a PTO day.
Rave: We now have the A/C in upstairs and I have never been happier about an A/C.
Questions: How do y'all deal with people asking what you need/want for the baby shower? I've had THREE family members now approach me and ask what we want and I'm like...I have a registry? Go there? Do you think I just did that for funsies? I don't want to assume anyone's budget! I have a range of items at different price brackets for a reason...

STM/ STM+: Best part about summer with a LO? EVERYTHING!! lol. DS is getting to the age now (2) where he is really experiencing things and it is making it so much fun. He remembers that fishies are in the ocean and will look for them. Looking forward to spending the summer weekends in the pool!

Pink! 🌺 I asked this because my KU younger sister already has their names picked out and they’ll find out the sex in a month. Ugh, damn FTMs and their planning!! Eh, we might’ve picked a name that I suggested, but DH still is waffling on the middle name. We kinda have a girl name leftover from DS, but I’m not bold enough to use it and we can’t agree on the longer versions.

How are you feeling?: Decent, though I ate something (99% sure it was a cake donut) that set me off with indigestion and an upset stomach all weekend. Boo
Rants/Raves: RAVE: I've got a paint color picked out for the baby room! AND! I got my office furniture moved to its new location in the dining room, so now I can start to move stuff into baby's room. A new rug for the dining room will be here tomorrow and baby's dresser will be here on Thursday! EEKK Stuff is happening!
Rant: DH lost a very close friend on Friday. They're both in the racing community and this guy owned a shop that built custom Lamborghinis. He was testing out some modifications he just made to a car and hit a curb, lost control and died. So sudden and so tragic. DH and this guy shared a racing hauler and this guy was supposed to be gone racing this weekend, however DH ended up using the trailer instead. DH feels very guilty, and like if he hadn't used the trailer, his friend would still be alive. This guy was only 36 and leaves behind a wife and 3 kids. So so tragic. He touched so many people's lives. Someone set up a GoFundMe account. It's been open less than 24 hours and already has $115K raised. Our hearts are very heavy right now.

@lillywonderland Do you guys have your own pool? Use a community? I grew up with one but we don't have one right now. I want to be the house that all the kids come to (rather than my kid running off to be somewhere else) and I'm convinced if we had a pool and a cool game/movie room that I could be that house. Unfortunately we don't have room for either right now soooo...... Guess we have to move?

Upcoming Appointments: Next week, I have a growth u/s, regular OB appt, and repeat glucose. I failed the 1-hour a couple of weeks ago and barely passed the 3-hour. I don't want to do this again. :-/
How are you feeling?: Surprisingly good, minus some sciatic pain when she's laying on that nerve. It comes and goes though, and is (mostly) tolerable.
Rants/Raves: DH is gone to DC all week for work--last time he was gone on a work trip, I ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis (5 weeks ago). Knocking on wood that a) these big kids behave for me this week, mama's too tired to put up with their shenanigans... and b) nothing crazy happens that lands me in the hospital again!

@cmdesigner with registries I feel like people want to get you what you reallllyyy want so they always ask. It seems like most people hate buying the “boring” stuff like sheets and bottles and want to get the fun exciting gifts. Sorry about the pelvis pain, try a warm bath. That usually helps me. My DH is the same way. We have a shared calendar on our phones and he still never looks at it. He’s only been to 1 appointment with me and it was my 16 week one. He hasn’t been at any u/s this time around and is going to miss my 30 week scan because he booked a fishing trip.
@lillywonderland names are so tough. I have 1 friend due 6 weeks before me and I really want to know what they’re naming their daughter because someone that had a girl a couple months ago used one of my names I liked. 2 is such a fun age! So much discovery and exploring.
@nomangos23 so sorry for your families lose. That is so sad and hopefully the gofundme can help them out during this difficult time. Exciting that your nursery is coming together.

How are you feeling?: Good, large and uncomfortable. Whenever I eat a “normal” meal afterwards I feel so full. I guess time to start eating smaller meals constantly.
Rants/Raves: Work blows. I don’t know if they realize I’m going to be on leave soon. No one has asked about taking over any of my projects or duties. I feel bad for my coworkers like they’re all going to be blindsided with a bunch of my crap. I found a dock a tot on clearance at target yesterday for $136 plus my 5% off! It was an online order return so never used or opened even. Super score! I wanted one soooo bad last baby and said F it! this time and just got it. This kid deserves something new right?
Questions: Curious what kind of pumps you ladies are looking into. I have a medela one I’ve used with my first 2 but I felt like the suction was getting bad towards the end of my pumping journey last time around. I need to ask my insurance about my allowance for a medela pump. They cover the ameda one in full which I have already but I do not like it at all. I feel like it’s awkward to travel with and very loud.

Rants/Raves: RAVE: We finally made headway in the nursery! We got the first coat of paint done, and will finish it up today. I found some great deals on a jumper, play mat, and boppy newborn lounger so I’m feeling more prepared.
In fact all the clothes she got are way off in sizing unless this child is an actual giant. Save your money!!!!

@nomangos23 I am so sorry for your loss. Re: pelvic pain and the belly band. Honestly, I don't know. It's very, very specific to my pubic bone. My midwife said I have "symphysis pubis dysfunction" and the only thing that seems to help is a chiro adjustment. I'll be going 2x a week from here on out but only went once last week. I did notice a difference after my adjustment a week ago, so I'm hoping 2x a week helps.

@supermom34482 Re: MH. He doesn't go to my midwife appointments because they're booooring (to me, lol) but he has been to all my monthly MFS appointments (the always do an U/S.) He really did feel bad about it so I shouldn't be so annoyed but I still kinda am. Also, I feel you on the work thing. I work in fundraising for a non-profit so we very specific markers throughout the year and I keep getting work requests and I'm like "y'all, I won't even be around." My team has been very cognizant of it but outside of that people are so clueless. As for the pump (lol, sorry for the long reply) I ended up going with the Spectra S2 based on several new mama recommendations. I ordered it through aeroflow.co.
@lillywonderland solidarity on the sciatica pain! Mine has been brutal too and I am OVER IT. It hurts so much.
@nomangos23 I'm so sorry about YH's friend! That is so heartbreaking. I'm also sorry YH is having trouble not blaming himself. Hopefully he will understand it isn't his fault soon.

@supermom34482 I'm going with the Spectra S2. I had a Medela with DS and HATED it. I honestly think the sound alone would trigger my PTSD. The Spectra is just so quiet! So hopefully it works well.

How are you feeling?: Morning sickness is back so I've been feeling pretty nauseated and I've gotten sick 5 of the last 6 days. Sciatica pain is also really kicking my ass. It's gonna be a long 12 weeks.
Rants/Raves: Not really a rant, but work is starting to ramp up for quarter end, so it'll be interesting to see how the next three weeks go! Once June is over though it should be pretty smooth sailing until leave, which is nice.

How are you feeling?: Heartburn has gotten so bad I sometimes feel like I’m going to throw up. It even wakes me up in the middle of the night. Tums are not cutting it anymore (did you know you’re only supposed to take 6 in a 24hour period if you’re pregnant…) I’ve been trying to stay under that but lately it’s impossible. Also the back pain is getting worse. It starts about mid-day and by the time I go to bed I’m in so much pain. Laying down doesn’t even help.
Rants/Raves: Sorry my participation has been sparse. We took off on Thursday and went on a long camping trip. It was beautiful! I loved the campgrounds we stayed at. We were right on the lake, with sandy beaches. And the fishing was really good. Now MH is gone all week for a work training event (ropes rescue 1 and 2). He’s super excited for it, he may even get to belay out of a helicopter! (He’s a captain on his works emergency response team, first responder and firefighter certified) Once he gets back from training he goes right into working afternoons so I basically wont see him for 2 weeks. Boo.

@cmdesigner I’m glad I’m not the only one who has a hard time walking after a long day. I could barely make it to the bathroom the other day. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with pointing people to your registry. Like you said, it’s there for a reason, plus you don’t want people to be getting you duplicates of things.

@duewithpu2 I’m in the same boat with clothing. My cousin gave me all her boy clothes and most of them are stained or worn out so bad I just want to throw them all away. Plus they’re 10 years old.

@janat1717 I love picking berries. We used to go strawberry picking all the time. My grandma also had raspberry bushes that we used to pick from and then she would smash them up and sprinkle sugar on top. So good! I love those memories.

my two ds and I have been having a blast so far - I work during the week but have been planning fun outings for weekends. One morning, we woke up early and drove to the beach in our pjs 🥰. We tried to build sand castles and pick shells. Highlight was ds 1 finding a jagged rock and telling me that he had discovered a T. rex tooth!!

1. I’m finally free of my job!! It was amazing not to have the Sunday blues yesterday. Also, the teacher moving into my room left everything a hot mess (after I had so carefully cleaned everything out and neatly labeled and packed away curriculum materials) and it gives me joy because it’s not my problem.
2. DH and I are going to go walk around the zoo after my appt. It turned out to be a lovely day weather-wise.

@dinosaur sorry to hear about your previa. I'm in a similar boat as you. I have marginal previa. Last Friday I had a u/s to see if the placenta had moved out of the way enough. Unfortunately I'm still 0.5 cm away from the 2 cm mark to be cleared. So I have another u/s in a month. Hopefully your placenta moves out of the way and you get cleared.
@themadcamel I wish I could bottle it! No idea why I don't get heartburn. Never have. I'm taking digestive enzymes this time but wasn't when pregnant with DS. Glad you got a nice day though.
@ternsetc My iron was a little low too. Not anemic but low. Ferritin really dropped. Thyroid not optimal now either but numbers ok. Hoping it all doesn't get worse 3rd tri because I'm already a little tired. I talked with Dr. by email but not sure if I will retest again soon. I am going back in today to test b12 and folate.

@duewithpu2 I've got the same problem with my mil. She buys stuff for 24 months like what do u want me to do with this for 2 yr and she's buying 9 months in winter apparel. Yes, let me put my son in a winter bundle up in july.....even if he's really tiny or really large, I don't foresee that working out.
She's also being really grouchy about the shower. Since she's throwing a luncheon with 5 of her friends to celebrate us, she feels she shouldn't have to help with my actual shower. Idk her friends. I don't wanna sound ungrateful but come on...help out a little. She said she'd write a check. That's great and all but we really wanted your time and effort. We asked her to bring a sandwich platter....so ur ok with spending the money but u can't take time to order or pick it up to help us out?? So frustrating, esp bc I can foresee this attitude continuing with the baby and just saying oh I'll give him money instead of truly spending the time with him.

@LJMoon6 I’d recommend something like Zantac 150 for the heartburn. I take one before I eat something like pizza that is guaranteed to give me HB and it keeps it completely away. My OB said there’s nothing wrong with using it daily if needed.

I was never told to do kick counts with my first. I never had any movement concerns, but they did say if I was concerned, to lay on my left after drinking something cold and if no movement in an hour, to call them. Some practices tell you to start around 28 weeks I think.

@supermom34482 I used a Medela and had the same issue near the end. I bought a Spectra (the pink one) and LOVE it. It was around $150 I believe.

I’m not much of an outdoor person, but I do mostly enjoy going to the beach. T Ball has been mostly fun this year except it’s hard to get him to focus which is frustrating. Our area lacks much outside stuff for kids. A kind of lame fountain but I’d really like a splash pad or a public pool.
