Sweating 😓

I weigh less than I did pre-pregnancy and I have a pretty small bump (dr. is happy my weight is stable) so a I didn’t expect to be sweating so profusely already at night.

It’s the beginning of summer here in the AZ Desert but it’s not even that hot yet and the AC isn’t helping at all. I usually don’t sweat much and have a high heat tolerance.

anyone else sweating it out already? Any STM’s with summer babies have tips other than being buck naked? How am I/How are WE supposed to survive 100 degree weather for the next 90 days or so? 😩😥

(I posted this as a separate thread from symptoms or venting because I feel like we could all use some tips for the final leg of this journey).

Re: Sweating 😓

  • I would wake up drenched in sweat pre pregnancy. My doctor assumed it was hormones but because I was on BC she couldn’t really tell me for sure. It’s just become part of my life lol. I can’t sleep in shorts so it’s always a think loose pant and a loose tank top and a box fan with the window open. Hope you can get some relief!

  • Thanks @jennm0724. I guess I’ve been spoiled by my low Basal body temp of 96.8 since childhood. I didn’t realize what you normal people go through 😂
  • No tips... but if I remember correctly, birth will not necessarily solve the sweating problem. I’m pretty sure that night sweats started for me several weeks post partum.  :(
  • Post partum sweats are INTENSE. Naked and a fan. Having some air blowing on you helps.
  • I'm in Alaska, it is 36° and has been snowing again since Thursday. I am drenched in sweat :(
  • No tips, just some commiseration. I normally sleep with a big heavy blanket. I have all my life. I just switched to our summer blanket which is crazy because it isn’t even hot out yet. Maybe 70s. Yesterday was 80° and I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. I keep finding myself with my whole body out of the covers. We’ve had the fan on for 2 weeks. Just so hot. You to book my pre-season AC visit here in the next week or so to get that bad boy turned back on and cleaned up.
  • My night sweats started a few days after birth ... i drenched the bedding so I ended up putting one of those mattress pads down that are for kids that wet the bed. It was crazy sweats for a good 2-3 weeks.
  • @nerdtoyourmother @Happyin14 didn’t know it doesn’t end at birth 😩😩😩😩. Thanks y’all for killing my hopes for recovery lol.

@hakele I’m the same. I love a big blanket but I can’t take it lol. It just comforts me to be burrito style in a thick blanket.

@indulgentgypsy Maybe since I live in the desert I should just spend the rest of my pregnancy in Alaska with you? Lol. The lower heat than I’m used to might help. Free babysitter. 😉

@canuckmama2015 I’m gonna have to invest in one of those now. I’m just afraid I’ll be stuck to it.
  • I had to get a weighted blanket for the summer. It isn’t too hot, but helps with the weight issues. I just need the weight. *shrug*
  • I slept inside a fitted sheet last night and the elastic edges kind of gave me that illusion and the burrito feel I craved. Didn’t sleep much still because the baby kept moving.
