@diner04 Welcome!! We’re glad you’re here!! I was so intimidated by my first BMB, so I never really came out from my lurker status. Feel free to chime in on any and everything! If you have questions, please ask away!
I also lurk on the August board, currently due 9/11, but first ultrasound put me a full week ahead and at my last Dr appt on Wednesday, she said she thinks I feel further along... so we’ll know more at my anatomy scan on Tuesday!!
@diner04 Hey! I live in MN but was born and raised in a border town in WI. We only just made the jump across the border a couple years ago and it feels so weird to call myself a Minnesotan now lol. Welcome to the group and I hope you stick around. What kind of work do you do?

@diner04 HEY GIRL!!!! Welcome! I live in MN and I appreciate Wisconsin's dedication to the cheese-life! :-D Come hang with us! I'm also a former teacher (high school and elementary math) turned into a mean, evil, assessment developer which is fundamentally against everything I believed in as a teacher, but pays better and provides a much better work-life balance right now as a mama and hopefully will assist me whenever I get my act together and transfer my teacher's license out here!
@sunshine2417 hahaha cracked up at your reference to mean, evil assessment developer 😉 but definitely understand the need for better pay and work life balance! And yes cheese is life and one of my favorite foods. My DH brought home Culvers for dinner and they forgot my order of cheesecurds, it was devastating 😪
@diner04 Culver's cheese curds are amazing! I would have gone back to the restaurant to get them lol. Have you or @sunshine2417 tried Ellsworth cheese curds? The best! You need to go to the cheese factory and get them warm and fresh. It's the only way I'll each them cold. They squeak in your mouth, they're so good!!

@LJMoon6 I just googled and Ellsworth is 1 hour from me... I may have to go check it out! On their yelp page there was a cheese curd festival mentioned.... ohhhhhh boy do I need to figure out when that is!!! I LOVE fresh cheese curds, either freshly made and squeaky or the fried ones mmmm yum yum yum.... We may need to do Culver's for dinner tonight now!
ETA: OMG I JUST FOUND IT ON FACEBOOK AND THE CHEESE CURD FESTIVAL IS JUNE 21ST... I MAY NEED TO ATTEND!!! That is all....
@sunshine2417 Do it!! I've actually never been to the festival even tho my hometown is near by. I may have to make that happen this summer! I have no idea what it actually entails but obviously cheese curds is all that matters lol. I've been to the factory many times and love it. I love supporting a local business too.

@kiddiesandkitties new englander here too! Which state are you from? My exact thought about wth is a cheese curd haha. Educate us, people! @cateyes543 what is squeaky cheese?! Lol
Have you had poutine? You know the cheese on top that’s kind of firm and rubbery and squeaks when you chew it (but in a good way)? Those are cheese curds! -Coming from a food lover who’s never actually been to the Midwest
@kiddiesandkitties@septoctkids@RedBreast35 WI is well known for cheesecurds and yes you know you have a good batch if they are nice and squeaky when you eat it! I found an article about cheesecurds as I dont know how else to explain it either 🤣
You all have me cracking up this morning. I'm so shocked that some of you have never heard of cheese curds. But I can understand, if you've never had them, the squeakyness would be a mystery lol. The fresher they are the squeakyer they are. I love how much we're learning about local cuisine. I never knew that fries on a salad were a thing. Now whenever I order a side salad I ask for a side of fries. It's the only way I'll eat a salad now. Because let's be honest. Salads are gross.

Well now I’ve got to tried these squeaky curds you speak of. Because, cheese.
@cammie0526 - actually, the poutine my family eats/makes are these... and I had never heard of gravy style poutine till I was an adult. I was so devastated the first time I saw it on a menu and found out it was not my beloved poutine.

I can say I’ve never had cheese curds only because the word “curd” gives me weird feelings haha. I also didn’t know they weren’t always deep fried! This summer is Picklesburgh, Pittsburgh’s giant pickle festive. You already know my pregnant pickle loving self is going!
@zuuls_mom only the freshest curds squeak when you bite into hem--thats how you test their freshness! However, I will say my FAVORITE type of cheese curd is to eat burrata, which the exterior is mozzarella cheese and the interior is mozzarella cheese curds....om nom nom!!!
@septoctkids and @kiddiesandkitties where are y'all from? I'm originally from NY, went to high school in RI, and college in CT!
