As the Week 1ers start to round the bases into our third trimester soon (!!!), I'm curious as to everyone's cadence of doctor visits. Are you moving to weekly or biweekly checkups with your OBGYN for the third trimester? Keeping it monthly?
My next appt is Tuesday. I’ll be 22 weeks. I’m not sure if they’ll move it to biweekly at 26 weeks or at 30 weeks. But it’ll definitely be biweekly at one of those points in time. Then after 36 weeks it’s every week.
My next appointment is Friday and I'll be 23 weeks. I can't remember when we start getting sooner but I think we will be moving up to every 3 weeks since I turn 35 this month. 🙄
I cant remember when we speed up to biweekly or weekly.
I will be starting biweekly appts at 28 weeks and moving to weekly at 36, but I'm delivering by 37 weeks so that will only be for a week. I can't believe there are only two months lefts of monthly appts
@nolemomma14, same. I have always stayed on the monthly schedule until 32 weeks, then go biweekly until 36 weeks, then weekly. My kids come early, so lucky for me I have only had to do the weekly thing until 38 weeks when both my kids were born. Praying for the same thing here, as my doctors office is much farther away with this pregnancy.
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
My midwife starts every 2-3 weeks once I hit 28 weeks so that’ll be after my next appointment the beginning of April. I’m also doing growth ultrasounds every 4 weeks due to valementous cord insertion and my midwife has referred me for an OB consult so my appointment frequency could change anytime based on either the OBs recommendations or the results of any of my scans!
@mrscammack I’m sorry to hear of your velamentous cord! I was diagnosed with marginal cord insertion this go around and they also have me on growth ultrasounds every 4 weeks. Besides that, has your OB/midwife given you any other plan of action, or said anything about how it could affect natural birth? I’m having trouble getting answers this early about it.
I just went this week and asked, I go back in a month at 24 weeks, then once at 27 weeks, then every 2 weeks until I hit 36 weeks when I'll go weekly. As long as everything is good tomorrow with the AS I'll have one more scan around 34-36 weeks to check growth and position.
(Who knows if my user name is correct because I keep getting booted) 23w today: i have one more appointment 3 weeks from now (my glucose test) then I move down to every 2 weeks. I’m high risk for preterm labor so she’s going to adjust it if she needs to. Got a keep baby in by date of 37w but don’t tell anyone but that gives me a June baby.
@mamahmh2 so far my midwife has said natural delivery should be possible since I have a fundal placenta so the cord blocking my cervix during delivery isn’t a concern. But I’m going to double check with the OB when I go in because I’ve read that a preventative csection might be safer and I’d rather do that if it is less high risk than natural labour.
Im thinking they’ll have more answers as the pregnancy progresses since the later ultrasounds should have a better indication of placenta/cord position, this early I know everything can still move around. I’m anxious to get a plan in place though! I’m sure you feel the same way!
I go every 4 weeks until 28 weeks... biweeekly then from 30-36 and then weekly (as long as I don’t get diagnoses with gestational diabetes, then weekly appt’s will begin sooner) i had gd with my first pregnancy, not with my second so well see what this 3rd pregnancy brings me
@mrscammack my twin a has a velemontous cord too! I am 22 weeks and have so many ultrasounds. They will start doing nonstress tests in labor and delivery and growth ultrasounds every two weeks here soon for me. I live 45 mins from the hospital so I'm so scared about going into labor as they said that's when everything could go wrong.
@mrscammack my ob was all for me having a vbac until we found out about the cord. She said that many Drs will try to say that everything will be fine since it's been caught but she said that's just not always the case I also see a MFM specialist and they agreed a c section is the safest route to make sure the cord doesn't rupture. Every pregnancy is different but I just wanted to give you the feedback I heard since I haven't had much guideance on this topic
@cb123391 thank you for the feedback! That’s how I’m feeling at this point, even if they shouldn’t have issues with vaginal delivery in theory the small chance something could go wrong just makes me hesitant. I’m looking forward to speaking with the OB soon, I’m hopeful she’ll be open to an elective csection if that’s what I’m more comfortable with after discussing it.
Good luck with your babies! Hoping twin A’s growth stays strong for you 💛
I was part of a study with DD so I had weekly appointments from 12 weeks on. My OB hasn't told me the schedule for this time around but I "think" I start bimonthly appointments in 3rd tri and weekly at 36 or 37 weeks (the latest I'll deliver will be RCS at 39 weeks).
@missbmarie1687 if it makes you feel any better the absolute latest I'll be delivering is June 24th or 25th...so I'll actually be having a June baby as well:) There are a few others in the same situation so you'll be in good company.
I’ll have my 24 week appointment next week. Then, I think, 28 weeks and then no-weekly until 36 weeks. I delivered my daughter at 36 weeks though so I’m not sure if this schedule will change.
@mom2b77373 That seems really early for registration at a hospital, I'm surprised! What is the norm for everyone else? Our hospitals say don't register til 33/34 weeks.
@foodislove it's pretty easy for me...I just go on the hospital website and preregister there. I can do it anytime, but I haven't yet because we may not still be in our house come July.
The hospital/birth center I'm going to is new, just opened January 2018, so they are not busy at all. They said I don't need to register. Makes me nervous!
