@shamrocandroll Meringue cookies are actually pretty easy to make, if you’re ever interested in giving it a try 😊 Almond cookies are great. I think my favorite ones are these butterfinger cookies I used to make at work. They were fantastic.

Guys. I have greatly failed you. I didn’t make it back to the grocery store in Montreal to get more Oreos to conduct the great Canadian Oreo experiment of 2019. I’m so sorry. However, I didn’t fail to eat: a sh*t ton of baked goods, dessert with every meal, poutine, chocolate fondue, at least 6 full fat lattes....So there’s that. 
lord knows I’m not KU but I sure do feel that way with my vacation diet! 

Also.... peeps fans?!!!! Totally side eyeing right now...🤢

 I saw an article about new Peep flavors that included pancake syrup flavor.  I'm on the fence about that one! 
ETA @marebear15 there are no Kroger stores in my state, either.  I wonder if I am missing out?

I don't even usually like Oreos, but I just had to have one today to "try again".  Unfortunately (?) it turns out that I like them more than I thought I did!

@b_1029 Totally with you on the Peeps side-eyeing.  How was your trip other than missing out on our Oreos?!

@b_1029 @bakerstreetboys I'm good with like... 1 peep max a year lol similar to how I like to get just 1 small bag of either candy corn or those Mallowcream pumpkins at halloween. I just need a little to be satisfied

@bakerstreetboys it was great! Montreal is beautiful and had so much good food and shops. I had a great time with my friend, only one interaction with a rude French (speaking) person, and the bitter cold held off until today!

Now you guys are talking about Easter candy! I was super tempted to get a Cadbury egg the other day - caramel filled of course! The OG creme is a little weird but I still ate them when I was younger lol.

I’m planning on making a really epic sandwich for lunch today and it’s on 7:30am here and I’m already so excited lol. 
Good bread, turkey sandwich meat (yay for cold cuts), Havarti cheese, lettuce, avocado, home made honey mustard, bacon! Sad times that this is what I’m excited for haha

lolz how this is now the "February Food Randoms" thread. Fine with me! DH made fried tofu last night, a thing i have epically failed at making myself numerous times, and he 💯 succeeded. Also, bc my laptop is effed, and his apple id is connected to this ipad i now use in its stead, i can see all his frequently used emojis which feels a bit like spying? they are definitely different than mine! aaaaand have changed slightly since i told him i could see them. 😂

@inthewoods23 I am exactly like you with the seasonal sweets. 1-2 peeps, a handful or so of candy corns, etc. I don't like the pumpkins though, just the corns... DH likes them tho and hates the candy corns with the brown tips so that works out nicely...

@brookert615 the original Cadbury creme eggs are my FAVORITE. I actually stockpile them, buy @ 20 at Easter and put them in the freezer to have year round. I’m a big fan of them frozen and/or smashed on top of ice cream. 😁

Non-candy related random ALSO: big TW for sexual harassment: I run a magazine, and we accept submissions of art and creative writing for free using an online system called Submittable, and I was on a roundtable a while ago that they did to help decide what they should do about online sexual harassment perpetuated through their system. AND I just got this DISGUSTING email from a dude whose poetry we rejected that is like... rapey cartoons and dick pics and stuff. I opened it without reading who it was from --like, this person is A KNOWN dick pic sender AND he hit us up with gross cartoons in replies to rejections in the past ugh. Anyway, I emailed Submittable about it through the (not very aggressive) system they created to help stomp out abuse and also put the guy on twitter blast. But like. Now I'm distracted from my grading/work by all the responses I'm getting there and waiting for gmail to respond. I'm MORE annoyed than anything else at two things 1) that I'm so distracted now! and 2) that this guy has been doing this so long and still gets away with it/gets off on it than I am that I opened the email--and I hope my tweets and contacting the company help to prevent other editors from getting harassed. That's the most important thing to me. A dick pic is certainly gross, but my trauma is located elsewhere. I am so worried about other editors getting triggered by some a-hole like this. OoOoOooooo I'm so mad.

I wish this random was about candy, geez.

So, I am not a huge fan of oreos (like I stated above) but I can down some chocolate chip cookies. Since Christmas, I have been eating way too many. I ate an entire batch of cookies all by myself in 2 days. I was forced to bake another batch today because someone made a comment about me not sharing. I have no shame, no shame whatsoever!

@emeraldcity1214 chocolate chip cookies are my favorite 🤤. I’ve been wanting to make some. Maybe we will do that tomorrow.

For any chocolate chip cookie lovers, I’m a big fan of making mug cakes (they definitely got me through grad school):

- 1 tbsp melted butter
- dash of vanilla
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp flour (the recipe I originally made said 3, but I’ve found it to be too dry that way. To each their own though!)
- pinch of salt if desired
- as many chocolate chips as you want
- 45ish seconds in the microwave! (I usually do 40 but don’t want it to cook all the way haha)

ETA- just realized this would probably be better for the baking thread (if microwaving a cookie counts as baking)- sorrrrrry!

I passed up the carrot cake Oreos at the store today (how is that a thing?!) and settled on Cadbury mini eggs.  Yum.  I also love the cream eggs, but we have them year round so I wait until I have a craving!

@bakerstreetboys Mini eggs are my jamn!  I bought a huge bag of them a couple of weeks ago and was really rpoud of myself because I split it up into individual snack bags so I wouldn't accidentally eat half the bag in one sitting.  This way, I would have to consciously go and get another snack bag.  It worked great!

@bakerstreetboys Normally, that would be me too.  But I'm trying (key word) to be a little bit healthier for our next go at TTC.  One year, I bought a case of them online and then hid them around my house.  MH kept catching me with mini eggs way after Easter was over and was like "Where are you getting those from!?"

Ugh. Just had the worst lunch. I work on a college campus, so my staff id card lets me into the cafeteria. Somehow my id card went missing, but I went to the cafeteria anyways because they have these computers that let you sign in with your id number. Except the computer was down. And the student on duty said her supervisor doesn't let them write down id numbers anymore. Ugh. 
So I'm currently eating a noodle bowl that I picked up from a campus convenience store.

Ugh... I have a cold sore for the first time in like 2 years.  Luckily I have a Valtrex refill ready to go, but it's already progressed pretty far in just a couple of hours while waiting for the script.  BLAH...

Anyone else have issues on TB today? I thought maybe it was just my app. I was getting a screen that was telling me it was under maintenance when I'd go to community. Was TB from the computer fine?

@inthewoods23 I think TB was down all over. I couldn’t get on my computer either.
