Any fitness goals for this pregnancy?

How is your diet/health?

Anything else?

Re: Work It Out Wednesday 1.16

  • What are you doing this week to stay fit (Mon-Thur)? I'm trying to keep eating the right stuff before MS hits and all I can stomach are carbs. I'd also like to workout at least once this week, but all I've done so far are some random lunges, stretches, etc.

Any fitness goals for this pregnancy? Definitely stay under the 35 lb rule, probably aim more for 25-30lbs. I also want to be more active than my last pregnancy. I walked a lot, but I want to workout around 3 times a week.

How is your diet/health? I've been doing the 21 Day Fix diet off and on since I had my DD 16 months ago. I lost the pregnancy weight around April of last year, and then slowly gained back a few pounds. I'm around 3 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight the first time, so not bad!

Anything else?  Anyone else do Beachbody workouts? I'm currently doing T-25, and the modifier seems pretty consistent with what I can do right now.

I walk to the train station (usually) from work but it’s raining here so my coworker has driven me the past 2 days. If it’s not raining I’ll walk today. I’ll also jump on our new bike (assault bike) for a few minutes to work out and lift a few weights at home.

Any fitness goals for this pregnancy?
I just want to be as active as I was with my previous pregnancy. I hiked 4 miles the day I went into labor (on my due date)! 😝

    How is your diet/health?
Pretty good. I cook really healthy foods and pack a lunch every day. I do enjoy my dessert after dinner though and I’m not giving that up!

  • @marebear15 I've done Beachbody workouts in the past. P90x was my favorite, but I also did T25.

What are you doing this week to stay fit (Mon-Thur)? I only just got my BFP so I'm going to take it easy this week until I can ask my doctor about what exercises are okay to do. I have a completely irrational fear that I'm going to knock the embryo out of place even if I cough too hard.
Any fitness goals for this pregnancy? I'll be a FTM (and a last-time-mom) so I want to track my calorie intake to make sure that I'm not overeating and do some kind of workout at least 4 times a week.
How is your diet/health? My overall health is pretty good, but my BMI reached the overweight (by 1 point!) category a few months ago. I'm an on again/off again weight gain/loss kind of person. The hardest thing for me to manage the calories in part of CICO haha.
Anything else? What kind of workouts are you all doing?

  • @themadcamel I made a youtube list of prenatal vids & I'm going through it & deleting any of them I don't like.

@lillywonderland I have a decent walk from where I park to where my building is on campus, so it makes me feel better you are counting your commute walk, too.

What are you doing this week to stay fit (Mon-Thur)? I did some prenatal yoga yesterday & plan to do so at least once or twice more. i'm behind on course prep/my life, and that makes it hard to give 30 good minutes even to something i know is important like my yoga.

Any fitness goals for this pregnancy? yoga 3-4 times every week. find a local prenatal class to join at some point! none of the yoga places are offering it, and i'm realizing it's not a regular but a special set of classes the places only do sometimes. i am hoping there will be a set of them or that my inquiring about it at one of the places I know has done it in the past might... inspire them because i could use the motivation and solidarity and community of a class, being a grad student far far away from most friends and family except the rotating door of classmates that higher, higher ed offers.

How is your diet/health? Really good, except I rarely eat meat. I've definitely been eating/snacking more than usual, but it's on stuff that's good for me plus the occasional Oreo, so. Good.

    Anything else? Nada.

  • What are you doing this week to stay fit (Mon-Thur)? ugh nothing but my daily walks on campus or to/from the train st. I've been so exhausted at the end of the day, I just can't make it to the gym and it is making me crazy. I'm hoping after the 1st tri that will change.

Any fitness goals for this pregnancy? Just keep moving! I have no idea how my body will react (FTM) but I do know that I have been tiny my whole life and I'm not sure how I will react mentally if I feel "bigger". I just want to embrace where I end up without feeling like I didn't try hard enough to stay healthy/fit.

How is your diet/health? Pretty good - we eat fairly healthy. A protein with a good carb and veggies. I will say that the veggie part falls off sometimes and that is what I need to be better about! I have been doing a lot of greens with lunch though and upping my vit D per doc's orders.

  • @kagesstarshroom You can really take any yoga class - just tell the instructor before class that you’re KU and they’ll have a few modifications (no closed/deep twists & no ab work for the entire pregnancy). Once you’re farther along there’s more modifications (no laying flat on your back after 16ish weeks) and obvs when you’re huge you just do what you can with a big belly, lol. Last pregnancy I did yoga until 38/39 weeks.
  • @chichiphin I'm tiny too (5'0") and worried about this, but with my first pregnancy (that made it to 21 weeks) I was ALL belly. I was SURE I would blow up all over but I didn't. :)

@kagesstarshroom Agree with Lilly! I just wouldn't recommend heated/hot yoga. Warm is okay though!

What are you doing this week to stay fit (Mon-Thur)? Doc has me walking only which is a bummer b/c I still feel good. But hopefully I get released to do something a little more. I'd love yoga.

Any fitness goals for this pregnancy? Just to make sure bub and I are getting the most nutrients. And Kegels.

How is your diet/health? Good, although my acupuncturist would disagree. She says I have poor digestions but I have no idea why. I asked her how she could tell and she said "from you tongue". We've cut out refined sugar for Jan and I haven't noticed any big differences. I miss sugar :(

    Anything else?
  • @nomangos23 I am so scared of kegels bc one time (TMI) I did them like too much/too hard once when i was first trying to figure them out & i felt like my vagina was stuck, like, "out" (if you know what i mean, like how you push/pull in & out) for like--days. BUT i was brave & tried them again when I was TTC, a little here and there bc TCOYF recommended them... so. here's to hoping I have mastered them & don't, like, ruin my what-have-you down there.

@lillywonderland thanks for that advice! i still feel so weird telling ppl I'm pregnant? both bc all the "what ifs..." that i and so many of us cannot help and also bc i feel like i'm lying bc i'm not showing & won't be forever lol. these are things, i am aware, i need to work on. meanwhile, youtube yoga is doing it, but I do want to get out for the motivation/community aspect a class would give me.

I live not ten minutes from this BEAUTIFUL lake (it's one of the most gorgeous things I've ever seen in my entire life), and this thread is making me feel motivated to do a walk on one of its trails, maybe once a week or once every two weeks? with some friends? pic of lake (sunset view from a boat tho--i've never been on the trail [yet!]) in spoiler...
  • @kagesstarshroom um. Yes. Take advantage of that beautiful lake!
  • What are you doing this week to stay fit (Mon-Thur)? Feeling soooo sleepy today that I will have to force myself to do something a little later today. Had a great 30-minute power walk on the beach yesterday. Tried to jog but felt tiny twinges & pinches in the ute area, got nervous, & went back to walking. Did what felt like a light home workout Monday night w weights, but my arms/shoulders hurt to sleep on last night, lol. Trying to squeeze in 10,000 steps each day on Fitbit but I’m usually ending the day just shy...

Any fitness goals for this pregnancy?
To keep moving! Aiming for 3-5 workouts a week until my body decides otherwise. Will start going to a very relaxed prenatal yoga/birthing class in 3rd tri.

How is your diet/health? Diet is pretty good—I was raised by hippie health nuts. Decaf w/agave & milk gets me going in the mornings. Health has been questionable due to autoimmune issues. But we recently landed on a treatment that’s recently working. Appointment with a specialist next week to see if I will be on treatment throughout the pregnancy...

Anything else? Just happy to have this group to bond with. :) Hoping these check-ins will keep me motivated!
  • @chichiphin I didn’t see your post otherwise I would have commented earlier! I’m also pretty dang tiny (height/weight) and was so worried about all the changes with my body. I prolly had the hardest time around 20ish weeks because that’s when I couldn’t fit into my regular jeans for the life of me and I felt like poop. Find a GOOD pair of maternity pants and you will feel SO MUCH BETTER!! They should fit just like “regular jeans” but with a nice stretchy part for your belly. Also, the awkward “is she fat or pregnant” stage doesn’t last too long and you’ll be popping before you know it!

@nomangos23 For some reason I always imagined you were like 5’10”!! I have no clue why...

@kagesstarshroom I prefer doing my yoga in a studio, so I say get over that crazy fear of yours and take a yoga class!! 😜
  • @nomangos23 @kagesstarshroom ughhh the kegels! They feel so weird and I can't keep it up for long.
@kagesstarshroom you should absolutely walk that lake! It looks so tranquil.
  • @lillywonderland I hiked my first pregnancy a ton too. I love hiking, biking, etc. Did I see you were like me and zero MS too? This pregnancy I'm sitting with 9" of snow around me, more to come this weekend and all sorts of car sick feeling.

But I have rowed a little and some squats. I was kind of lazy over the holidays and I get nervous to do too much too fast.
  • @janat1717 Yes, I was guilty of no MS with my first pregnancy. 😬 We’ll see how this one pans out. I’m hoping I get lucky again!!
  • What are you doing this week to stay fit (Mon-Thur)?
I’m in a Run Club twice a week, and I also do 3 workouts a week in the Sweat app...although this week I’m feeling exhausted and have been slacking.

Any fitness goals for this pregnancy?
Last time I used my pregnancy as an excuse to be lazy. This time I’m hoping to be active until the end.

How is your diet/health? I’m starving all the time, but trying to snack on fruits and vegetables as much as possible. I’m about 10 lbs heavier than I was when I got pregnant with my son, so I’m trying really hard to not gain weight right away.
  • @lillywonderland I also had no MS my first pregnancy and just this week started feeling nausea in the afternoon through the evening. It sucks for many reasons, and certainly is putting a cramp on my workout plans.

what I planned to do to stay fit: 30-45 minute low to moderate intensity beachbody videos (Brazilian Butt, T25, etc), What I’ve actually done... one workout and they rest of the evenings I’ve been laying on the couch drinking gingerale and watching HGTV. I hope it passes and I can get back to my workouts soon.

How do I post a picture? I can post our little pond, which is beautiful to walk around but quite cold right now... I love living somewhat close to water (of any kind).
  • @lillywonderland @nomangos23 thank you for the insight! I’m taller - 5’7”. My bloat is already “popping” at the end of the day 🙃

@bostonlady-2 Sorry the nausea is already kicking in—no fun! How to post a pic: look at the options in the dropdown menu just above the comment box. On the far right is the picture selection. Choose where you want to upload from & give it a minute before it appears. I’d love to see this pond of which you speak. ;)
