Re: IF Testing and Treatment week of 1/7

  • @inthewoods23 I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work and dh had a tough time with it. Glad round 2 isn’t too long off.
  • @inthewoods23 I am so sorry friend! But you are right, you get to feel everything you need to right now. This 'ish is so god damn hard on the heart. But, I am glad you are able to move forward into the next one quickly.  Hugs to you <3

  • @inthewoods23 I'm so sorry for you and for you DH. It really never gets easier. Onwards and upwards and FX round 2 is successful.

  • Ahh @inthewoods23, sending you so many hugs. I'm so sorry your first round wasn't successful. I hope you and YH can still find some comfort in the hope that you can roll right into #2 and keep trying. <3 Hope is both a blessing and a curse, but don't let go of it!

    Me: 32  SO: 35

    TTC since Dec 2017

    Aug 2018: PCOS

Nov '18: Cycle monitoring, testing w/RE. SA showed count on the low side (19mil)

    Dec '18: Letrozole + TI - BFN

Jan '19: Almost at 30lb total weight loss milestone since Aug '18. Natural monitored cycle + TI

  • Hugs @inthewoods23. It's so hard to see them struggle. QT and gelato sounds fantastic.
  • So sorry @inthewoods23
Don't get too discouraged though. IUI don't have a huge success rate so it might take a few before you get to see your BFP. Big hugs  <3

  • @rikiteacup I had some serious success envy when they were going over our options. IUI is 20% and IVF is 60-70% (maybe even 80?) they said. Like damn I wish I could pick that now and not have to pay the ridiculous price for it!

@inthewoods23 I hear you. I am trying to prepare myself. I think if IUI is a possibility for us, we will still pick IVF despite the outrageous price tag. Given our ages, we don't want to wait any longer.

    IVF story in spoiler
When we go to the RE, I will set my expectations pretty high re: success rates.
After my mom passed away, my dad started dating a crazy 53 y/o woman who wanted kids. They did IVF. They used donor eggs obviously but the sperm was my dad's and he was 58 at the time. She got pregnant with twins after 1 or 2 IVF.
If somebody had told me this crazy story would give me hope one day, I would have never believed them.

  • @rikiteacup and @inthewoods23 I've already decided if IUI is offered, we'll either be done or do IVF. I'd have to tap into my 401k, but given my age and loss history, I like the idea of PGS anyway.
  • @nitnat007 What was the name of the more in-depth SA that you guys got? My RE didn't seem to hold much stock in % morphology. She said it's not a very good indication of success rate. In fact she said that about a lot of different tests. I think she felt that since we were going to do IUI no matter what, it didn't matter what the results of these other tests were. She's playing the game of let's try IUI and if it doesn't work THEN we'll investigate more. It's frustrating.

@kiki047 I've honestly never heard of it being an issue for other people either. Like I said this is only the second time it's happened. They do have to dig around quite a bit for the US as well. I also wonder if his sperm aren't getting anywhere near my cervix too. Like, I'm 100% behind science and believe the studies that say a tilted uterus doesn't affect fertility but... what if there's different degrees of tiltedness. What if the more severe tilt does affect it. I have no idea if there's any studies out there that talk about the severity of your tilt lol. I know I'm BSC but I'm obsessed with looking for an answer.
The other thing my mind worries about is that I might have endometriosis. I think I saw some statistics that said 40% of unexplained infertility actually have undiagnosed endometriosis. And then there's another statistic that says about 15-20% of people with endometriosis have no symptoms (I don't think I have any symptoms). Those seem like high enough odds to matter. And then you throw on top of that the fact that my mom had such severe endometriosis that she had to have a complete hysterectomy. Am I BSC for worrying about this?
I guess my question to everyone whose had a laparoscopy done is when in your infertility treatment did your RE recommend one?

  • @LJMoon6 They call is a Sperm Functional Assessment Report. They test Antisperm Antibodies, break down defects, motility, vitality, characteristics and do a mucus-penetrating kinematic test as well. And do a wash test too.
