People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

Rants/Raves: Im ready to have my energy back up. I feel so lazy these days. Not much cleaning or cooking coming from me 😅

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/21 7w4d
Baby is the size of a(n): jellybean
Upcoming Appointments: Wednesday at the RE for u/s and bloodwork. If all goes well, I’ll be released to a regular ob. DH won’t be able to go and I’m squeezing it in between meetings so I’m nervous about how everything will go down.
How are you feeling?: so nauseous right now. And tired. And useless.
Rants/Raves: DH has been freaking amazing picking up allllll my slack and entertaining our almost 3 year old. He’s out of town until Thursday so I already feel bad for the amount of TV and subpar parenting that will occur.
Questions: none
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? I really love baking. And I used to knit and sew prior to DD becoming mobile.
Baby is the size of a(n): raspberry
Upcoming Appointments: January 14 and I CANNOT WAIT YO
How are you feeling?: Like complete shit.
Rants/Raves: I’m so sick of puking. I drove 40 minutes round trip because I HAD TO HAVE fried okra from Cracker Barrel and then it promptly came up twenty minutes later. My commute to buy the food lasted longer than my enjoyment of the food.
Questions: none this week. I’m ready for my first appointment next week and soo ready for second tri. I tend to still be sick my entire pregnancies, but it’s much more bearable than first tri.
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? I like the memories answer! But I also love scrapbooking and planning. I’m an erin condren girl and I love buying the weeklies from Etsy and spending an hour planning my week. It’s relaxing. I’m also a writer and love creating stories that other moms find relatable and comforting.
Baby is the size of a(n): raspberry
Upcoming Appointments: 11 weeks at Wendy's of January.
How are you feeling?: sick as a dog. Yesterday was basically a blur. I threw up our dry heaved at least 11/12 times. Finally got zofran called back in, and as a result didn't throw up or miss dinner tonight. I haven't been able to eat dinner for the last 3 nights, as my morning sickness gets drastic around 5 PM.
Rants/Raves: I think my stomach has shrunk from being sick. Even when I'm feeling great, I can only eat about half what I was before. So it's very hard to know my limits right now, and I'm just eating very slowly.
Questions: none at the moment.
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? When not pregnant, I bake and crochet. I'm a very beginner at sewing. I've actually gotten pretty good at decorated cakes and yeasted breads.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 21 / 7w4d
Baby is the size of a(n): Jellybean
Upcoming Appointments: January 10 with my family doctor. He's now monitoring me closely until my first OB appointment on the 14th since some of my bloodwork came back that concerned him. (High-ish blood sugar and my thyroid isn't working as it should)
How are you feeling?: Nauseous, exhausted and over emotional. Trying not to stress, so every day closer to the end of the first trimester is a miracle. We had a miscarriage two years ago and have been struggling to conceive ever since this will be our first.
Rants/Raves: Today was probably one of the hardest days I have had (so far, let's be honest I'm sure there are harder days to come.) But I had to take my brother to the airport so he could fly back home across the country. I promised myself I wouldn't, but I totally ugly cried the whole way there and home.
Trying not to panic on the news about my thyroid and blood sugar. Trying to keep to a strict schedule for my morning & nightime prenata lvitamins and thyroid pill.
Questions: I was vomiting quite a bit the past couple of weeks, but I've been feeling pretty good this last week. Is it "normal" for vomiting to suddenly just stop? Or am I maybe doing something right with my diet? Also, what are some good sleep positions in the first trimester?
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? I enjoy knitting and writing. I've been knitting blankets and hats for my cousins' newborns, I'm excited to knit for my own.
@lilyclover hi and welcome! I’m sorry about your bloodwork. I’m on thyroid medicine (probably was why I got pregnant this time) AND I had gestational diabetes last pregnancy so I know those issues well! If you go on a GD diet I’m happy to share tips and tricks!
Due date/weeks: August 16 / 8w 2d
Baby is the size of a: dime
Upcoming appointments: I’ve been released from the RE so I’m starting the process of moving to the regular OB. I have an intake phone call with the nurse on 1/15 and the first appointment with ultrasound on 1/22
How are you feeling? This weekend was rooooughhhh. I’m in full first trimester misery. Sore boobs, headache, nausea, a nose so sensitive I can’t be in the room with any smells, roller coaster moods (I mentioned on another thread I quietly wanted to murder my husband for serving dinner with a salad fork instead of a dinner fork lol), and exhausted
to death.
Rants/Raves: just first tri misery!
Questions: none right now. @lilyclover symptoms can come and go—last time I had a reprieve around 8ish weeks and freaked out, but it was just a short little break in symptoms.
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? Babies lol jk (though sort of! Pregnancy and babyhood with my daughter was so delightful). I’m a big cooking dork and throw a lot of dinner parties. Last night I made lamb shanks braised with Moroccan spices and prunes, served over pearl couscous with apricots and pistachios. Which my husband served with a salad fork (see murderous rage above)
@parrothead78 It really is. I'm loving it though, even if it's been days of nausea. My fiance has been really supportive through it all. Texting me throughout the day to make sure I'm having enough water, having small meals and asking how I'm feeling.
@Beauxbaton It was low, so I'm on Synthroid(sp?). Hypothyroidism is something that my mom recently found out she has, so I'm going to be tested for it.
Thanks everyone for the replies. While my doctor and the pharmacist have said similar things, sometimes I feel like they just give generic answers. It's nice to have a group of moms out there who have experienced it. I guess I'll just consider myself grateful that I'm not riding the porcelain bus everyday right now.
Baby is the size of a(n): still small
Upcoming Appointments: nothing till the very end of the month
How are you feeling?: meh, I have reached the carbs and ginger ale portion of the first tri... its getting hard to find food that is appealing or doesn't make me want to vomit thinking about it. General low grade nausea and the fatigue hits hard by 8pm but otherwise not bad
Rants/Raves: so far this time I am keeping the weight gain under control... last pregnancy I had gained more than 10lbs the first tri... Rant, I had to go into work every day this weekend
Questions: nope
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? It has been so long since I have had time for that I don't even know the answer.
@cato99 I hate the transition from RE to OB... its weird not getting all the attention all the time.
@lilyclover sleep however you want to sleep, later on it matters (ish... your body will tell you when you need to move)
@lilmamabebe3 that sucks about the ocra....

IUI 2 rounds, baby girl 12/17
Upcoming Appointments: Ultrasound Wednesday, meeting potential new obgyn Thursday
How are you feeling?: Extremely stressed and extremely fatigued.
Rants/Raves: Pants suck.
Questions: I've got nothing. Unless anyone wants to theorize with me about whether it is too early to be able to feel my ute firming?
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? Lately, Zzzzz's Generally, I really enjoy cooking and baking.
Baby is the size of a(n): 2x2 Lego brick.
Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow!! Finally!
How are you feeling?: Pretty decent. Really tired. But I'm wondering if that is thyroid related as now I .mostly over this cold/cough thing and sleeping a lot better.
Rants/Raves: eh, just tired.
Questions: nope
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? Apparently babies, lol. But I like to sew, bake, build, and crochet.
My uterus was very obvious at my appointment today much to the surprise of the doctor. It's already higher than usual. Of course, this is my 3rd kid so my uterus is saying "I know what to do!!!" By popping up so early haha.
Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry
Upcoming Appointments: January 10, so anxious!
How are you feeling?: Holy heartburn. It seems to early for that nonsense. But other than that, as long as I eat immediately after waking up, it's not too bad.
Rants/Raves: I had to go to our other office that's 2 hours away yesterday so I went with my two co-workers/friends. After getting in the car they asked me to drive. They don't know I'm pregnant, but I was definitely planning to nap so I was not happy.
Questions:
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? I like to paint. Very abstract because I can't draw and I don't do it as much as I used to, but I still enjoy it.

Baby is the size of a(n): keyboard key? I feel like the bump is really generous with the size
Upcoming Appointments: last RE apt on Friday & transitioning to OB on the 24th
How are you feeling?: some dry heaving and gagging but mostly really bad indigestion. I wish I wasn't poking at my boobs ever 30 minutes trying to see if they are still sore and enlarged. Gives me anxiety thinking I might miscarry (no reason to, I heard a heartbeat at 6w and 7w, just anxious)
Rants/Raves: Might murder my husband if he tells me I shouldn't be stressed and that it's not good for the baby.
Questions: Symptoms come and go right?
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? I would say cooking but right now I enjoy creating great nooks on the couch for netflix binges.

Baby is the size of a(n): blackberry
Upcoming Appointments: First Midwife Appointment
How are you feeling?: Tired and nauseous
Rants/Raves: I want to be a grown up and eat vegetables. But carbs and dairy just sound so much more edible!
Questions:
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? Food. I like to bake in particular, which is hard when you’re nauseaus
Baby is the size of a(n): southern pecan (according to Ovia pregnancy)
Upcoming Appointments: Tuesday first with my midwife
How are you feeling?: not too bad, tired is probably my worst symptom. That and I have terrible post nasal drip from allergies and can't take anything for it which causes a cough which is super annoying, especially since I need to pee all the time. This is also my second, so coughing and trying not to pee myself is basically my biggest challenge.
Rants/Raves: essential oil necklaces! They open and you put a little felt pad inside and drop some peppermint oil on it and take a sniff when the nausea hits, it's wonderful
Questions: anyone else suffering migraines?
GTKY: What do you enjoy creating? Dinners in my instant pot
And this can feel a little uncomfortable because it's scary, particularly in the midst of the national opiate crisis, but for especially bad ones, opiates under proper medical supervision are also generally reasonable for pregnancy. I had a Tylenol 3 prescription (Tylenol + codeine) last pregnancy for migraines and obviously tried to use it as little as possible, and this pregnancy my OB nurse gave me the ok to use Norco (Tylenol + hydrocodone) sparingly for the very worst ones (just because I already had some on hand from before, for out-of-control menstrual cramps). I'm going to discuss it with my doctor at my next appointment because even though it was allowed Norco still feels too strong for pregnancy, so I'll probably ask for another Tylenol 3 prescription.
