We had a Friendsgiving yesterday so I'm eating ALL the left overs minus turkey because they put garlic all over it and that is one of my aversions so far.
Everything. I ate nothing but bagels and chips and a turkey sandwich today. I was really hoping I'd go into my next appointment having lost more weight but no such luck after a day like today, I'm sure. It's the craziest thing: I've hardly been able to eat a thing lately, until today. Now I've made up for the last three months of not eating!
I'm gong to throw some unstuffed peppers into the slow cooker on my "lunch break" (also have to go vote but it's walking distance and should be super fast).
Alright, give me ideas on high protein snacks that aren’t nuts! My nurse thinks my black outs are blood sugar related and wants me to take in more protein for snacks, but I don’t know from where!
I just need to let this out.. I inhaled a burger and small fries. It was glorious. I have been doing good all week not eating my kid's halloween candy and all....but man was it a burger night.
Do you guys have a South Street Burger in the states? I don't think it's a canadian company. I love it cause it's organic meat (ie no hormones or antibiotics) and it's served with New York Fries.
The problem.... I am not fullllllll.
Ok bye.

@mrskoz428 I'd be more concerned about the nitrates than the sodium. Both are fine in moderation and this is just personal preference because nitrates freak me out, but I'd focus on getting more protein from somewhere beside red meat.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DISREGARD THIS ADVICE. Eat what you want, just sharing since you seemed concerned about sodium!
@DuchessOfCambridge I guess I didn’t realize they were high in nitrates, as well. I just know you are basically eating salt, but ugh! I love jerky! I tried alpaca jerky while student teaching two years ago and it was delicious! Too bad I don’t keep in contact with that teacher!
@mrskoz428 cured meats have nitrates to help preserve. A lot of them say none added but they still have them. I'm strict with it but I know many people who aren't and have perfect babies, I just haven't liked what I've found when researching. It's sad because I love hot dogs! I only have them like four times a year, all at summer cookouts though haha so I decided that's okay
@DuchessOfCambridge I try to get no added nitrites or nitrates when I do have any processed meats but why not get protein from red meat? We have it about once a week but towards the of my last pregnancy I became anemic so it was a great way to get extra iron in and heme iron is way better absorbed. I definitely don't limit red meat when pregnant (although I'm not eating it every day by any means and I buy pasture raised). This is for another thread so not trying to hijack but I would incorporate nonheme sources with the heme sources for max absorption.
@kvh22 sorry, typo! I meant processed red meats. I limit red meat personally because I genetically have high cholesterol and I don't really like it, minus the odd burger or hot dog here or there.
I'd also like to add that I know I'm way more cautious during pregnancy than most. I should have worded my "suggestion" differently as more of an "in case you find this interesting" rather than "do this" haha
@DuchessOfCambridge you're always so well researched so I was just worried that there was some good info out there I wasn't aware of...and then worrying about how I was going to get iron in. *phew*
And I know your second part was directed at everyone, not just me, but I thought it was informative while not saying it's on the list that doctors would tell us to avoid. I think it's so easy to miss the nitrates and nitrites in food so people don't even realize they're consuming it. It's good for people to know and then make an informed decision (IMO).
@kvh22 I haven't read anything about red meat in general! Just the processed stuff. They didn't even find anything conclusive, it's more they know nitrates can be carcinogenic and they don't know what this means for a fetus. I'm like, weirdly hyper aware of carcinogens as it is so my thought process is "well little fetus, I may as well let you enter the world as carcinogen free as I can and then you'll be exposed and I can't control it".
I've been craving fried oysters lately. I may have to do that this weekend. They are so effing tasty.
I've also been craving restaurant salads. Like those big iceberg lettuce salads covered in all kinds of stuff. I'm gonna have to look up a few copycat recipes. Surely they're easy to recreate at home!
*lurker* @wishiwaspreggo I'm so thrilled to see no steak this time Miss you
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

@suzycupcake - I'm just craving food now. Like any food. Put food in front of me and it's gone. I've been very cooperative about dinner requests from my wife because I'll literally eat anything but entree salads and seafood are really hitting the spot right now.

easy protein. Otherwise cheese sticks or beef sticks.
Also soup oil was very good! SO even liked it, and it was wayyyy out of his comfort zone. I’m actually surprised he even tried it.
The tickers made my chicken nugget craving so bad, DS got us Burger King tonight. I'm not proud of it, but I am satisfied.
