Rant/Rave/Brag: DS got the dreaded HFM. He spiked a fever on Thursday then started getting the rash on Saturday. Poor little dude. He’s in really good spirits though, so there’s that! He had a ton of fun yesterday splashing in the puddles we made cleaning off our back patio from all the dirt and icky mess that came off our roof from the rain we (finally!!) got.

We got DS a skeleton onesie costume. OMG. It is the cutest thing ever. DH thinks it is soooooo much better than his tiger costume from last year (which I loved!). I was planning on going trick or treating at some of our close neighbors houses this year. I know he’s not going to know WTF is going on, but I just want to experience it! I’m hoping to get a matching skeleton shirt (for me - mostly because I know he’s not going to want his mom dressing up like him when he gets older!) I’m thinking it would be fun to carve the pumpkin (myself) and let DS play with the pumpkin guts.

Rant/Rave/Brag: DS is finally getting into his music class we do weekly. Parents leave the class for the majority of it and then are invited back. When I leave he throws a fit and starts crying, and I’m totally the mom that leaves him to cry. I know that sounds terrible, but he quickly calms down after i leave and really has a blast! He needs that time away from me and I’m glad he’s actually partaking.

For Halloween ds will be blinky the red ghost from the Pac-Man game. Dh will be Pac-Man and I will be Ms. Pac-Man. I make our costumes, so I’ll be working on those this week. I found out the neighborhood we will live in doesn’t really have a lot of trick or treating, so we will be venturing elsewhere that evening. Thankfully there is some military housing nearby. Ds should do well there! We will also be doing some trick or treating the weekend before Halloween at a local attThis weekend we will hit up the pumpkin patch and do the fall festival thing as well as get pumpkins to carve. I really need to get it together and finish the porch decorations too!

@lillywonderland Poor DS! I hope you don't catch it too. We all had it when DS was around 1.5 and it was brutal, esp when DH caught it because he does not make a good sick patient and I was sick taking care of everyone.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Timing is going to be hard because we are going camping right before O but FX we work it out somehow. If not, I'm just happy to be syncing up with the lunar cycle again since we had so many moon babies from TTGP last month!

Any questions? Not really, unless anyone has any recommendations of labs to ask for at a fertility specialist? I imagine they will know what to run but I honestly have no clue about any of this.

Rant/Rave/Brag: Rant/ DS went through a phase where he yells from the bathroom with a mouthful of toothpaste that he is done but won't spit unless I tell him to finish up. If I don't say anything he will start screaming with toothpaste in his mouth. He stopped for a while but now he's doing it again. Rave/ Took DS horse riding again on Friday and it was great. A little different setup but the woman was like a female Mr Rogers.

GTKY: What are your Halloween plans? What is LO going to be? Do you dress up also? Do you carve pumpkins together? DS is going to be Thomas with one of those ride-in costumes. DH and DS will carve the pumpkin that we picked up at a farm yesterday, then they'll do trick or treat rounds in our neighborhood. Last year I handed out candy in costume until some 20-something Japanese tourists or students showed up in costume for candy.. it was bizarre. Considering ditching handing out candy to go out with DH & DS but I don't want to leave the dog at home to have a heart attack every time the doorbell rings.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Very odd. I'm not sure when or if I O'd, and my period is late. I know most normal women would test if their period was late, but I'm holding out because I feel like it's just around the corner. Not to mention, I don't feel like I did when I was pregnant with DD.

Any questions? Those of you who have had an-O cycles - what is the breakthrough bleeding like? I've been searching the board but can't get any more info on it. Is it like a normal period?

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD is all of a sudden using the potty! I don't think I'm as ready as she is, hahaha. Don't ask me how this happened.

We are going trick or treating and we all dress up together. DD will be a princess, I'm going as a scarecrow, and DH is going as a robot. We took her trick or treating last year and she loved it. She is obsessed with Halloween, even the scary stuff! DH and I carve pumpkins but personally I think DD will just get in the way so my preference would be to do it without her, but knowing DH, he will want her to barge in on our fun (I know, I'm a mean mom). We love Halloween! I'm excited about it.

This will be my first cycle since my loss. Not going to lie, I'm nervous. Because of that we are taking it easy and just seeing what happens.

Rant/Rave/Brag: I've already posted about it numerous times (sorry!!!) but I'm so excited about having chicks again. Watching my boys with them is everything! I can't wait till the rest hatch and we can move them to a playpen outside.

We use to really go all out with costumes for our kids. We have done an astronaut and space chimp with the wagon as their spaceship, a police officer and bad guy with the wagon as a police car, a knight, wizard, and a dragon with the wagon decorated as a castle, and then Peter Pan, Hook, Lost boy, and Tick Tock Croc. Last year was the first year they all had different costumes. I'm sad they actually have opinions and I can't coordinate them anymore. I have no clue what we are doing this year. Our neighborhood doesn't really do trick or treating so we'll probably go to a friend's house.

Any thoughts about this cycle? This is my first cycle, IUD was removed 2 weeks ago. I started with some spotting today, so I'm sure AF is on her way soon. I'm only CD 19, so my body is totally out of whack.

We live in a rural area, so we drive to our local palliative care home, where they do a "pumpkin trail" and the residents all hand out candy. We went last year, and to see the faces on the seniors - it killed me with all the emotions. We are doing that again this year, big win - we don't have to worry about the weather!

Our daughter and myself are dressing up as bees, and hubby is the beekeeper. She LOVES bees right now, but won't step foot in her costume. She hasn't seen mine yet, can't wait to show her!

Any questions? When was your first LO's dentist appointment. I've been reading that it should be around the first birthday, but we didn't pay for dental insurance for her this year, so I'm wondering if it would be terrible to wait til next year?

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD added a few more words to her vocabulary over the weekend! She was saying mama, dada, and bye. But she said "Go get dada" and "Gaga" for Grandpa, and "Gigi" for Grandma.

This will be our first year celebrating with DD. We think we want to dress up as Owen and Claire from Jurassic World and have DD be a dinosaur. She won't care what she is, so this might be our one chance to do what we want. We're going to go trick-or-treating around our neighborhood with her cousins.

@riff323 I had some spotting right before O was supposed to happen last cycle in FW, then later had a a positive OPK around CD30, but temps couldn't really stay up so I'm unsure of that one too. "AF" arrived on Thursday and it had 4 days of light to medium flow, now nothing on CD5.

@mamanbebe thank you - that seems to be the way my AF is starting off too. I'm just waiting for it to intensify.

@marebear15 DD hasn't had a dental appointment yet (she's 2 years, almost 4 months old). She freaks out at the doctor's office so bad that our doctor actually suggested holding off! We do our best to brush her teeth and stuff and are just hoping for the best.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Im trying to be extra diligent with my eating habits and limiting my caffeine. I normally get horrid migraines towards the end of AF (I think due to low iron maybe)..I’m only on CD 4, but so far so good

Rant/Rave/Brag: I nursed DS for the last time over the weekend. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I didn’t really have a set date to stop but decided to try and see how he’d do (he figured it out pretty quickly). Since it wasn’t planned, I wish I had let him snuggle a bit longer the night before.

I don’t have a creative bone in my body! I need to either think of something quick, or get my butt to Costco. I think we’ll at least do pumpkins this year..DS will have fun with that.

@lillywonderland poor DS! We’re always getting emails from daycare about HFM...we’ve been lucky so far! I heard now is the time to spoil them with food just to get something in their bellies.

@marebear15 I took DS to dentist at 12 months. He had a full set of teeth so I figured it was time. Our dentist didn’t do much...just showed me how to brush his teeth and checked the spacing. I don’t think he needs to go back until he’s 4

@marebear15 I’ve taken ds at 18 months and 24 months. He’s now almost 3.5 and we haven’t been back, just from moving and having conflicts with appts. His teeth have been great and the dentist told me signs to look for if there was a problem so I’m not overly concerned.

@marebear15 I just took DS to his second visit at 4.5, he went around 13mos to make sure everything was coming in ok and teach some brushing methods. I honestly wouldn't worry about it and just work towards brushing 2x daily. Once teeth arrived, they said it was safe to move to a fluoride toothpaste, but only use a rice-grain amount to brush. And FYI, up until a certain age, sometimes your regular health insurance covers dental for children. That's what we used for the first dental appt at 13mos.

@marebear15: My dentist suggested bringing my 2 year-old in this fall for just a "Meet and greet", sit in the chair, etc. He likes to very slowly get kiddos introduced to the process, so may just do a few quick "drop-ins" with him over this fall/winter/spring. We are TERRIBLE at bushing regularly, though. (Maybe I shouldn't admit that).

@pugmum hi fellow 10/8 mama! I had a short cycle the first cycle after IUD was removed. I’m hoping I will feel less out of whack once AF leaves the building.

@marebear15 our pedi told us at her 2 year checkup to go to the dentist for the first time between 2 and 3. I would wait but it also may be worth asking your pediatrician their recommendation.

@lillywonderland - We've had two close calls with HFM. One from another toddler, and one from my sister's boyfriend

Apparently, what used to be a "kid only" illness is becoming more common place in adults. FX it's quick-lived and he's not too uncomfortable in the time being.

@kbrown2385 - Don't feel guilty about leaving when your kid is crying! I teach a 3 year olds class at church and the kids are way easier to settle down when the parent leaves quickly. I'm sure you're doing him and the teacher a favor.

@mamanbebe - I hadn't thought about looking up the lunar cycle compared to last month's baby explosion. How is that supposed to work? Full moon around conception?

@PugMum - That sounds like a delightful way to spend Halloween! And to think about how much joy that's giving the seniors in that home.

@montee1917 - I'll bet that's bittersweet to finish nursing. Sometimes I think I'm ready to get my body back, and then other times I really like those snuggly moments. We are down to a morning and evening nurse.

Thank you, everyone, for answering my question about the dentist! I think we'll wait another year and keep up with the brushing.

@marebear15 I'm late to the party but I second that it's okay to wait with the dentist. I took DD at 1 and she literally kept her mouth closed the whole time. The dentist had to take my word for it that she even had teeth. 😂

Happy to see lots of activity on TFAS today! I had a rough TTC weekend and trying to put it behind me. This cycle I'm going to watch my sugar intake (lol Halloween, yes I see you) so now in addition to not having coffee and wine, I also don't get ice cream! Slowly getting rid of everything that makes life worth living... Oh well.. Hopefully it will be worth it someday.

Rant/Rave/Brag: Hmm... we had a gorgeous fall weekend and managed to squeeze in a lot of fall fun!

GTKY: What are your Halloween plans? We went to a pumpkin patch yesterday and picked out our pumpkins... our son was more interested in the rocks than the pumpkins lol. My H and I will carve ours but we'll have our son paint his. He had a blast painting his last year. We will go trick or treating with some friends in another neighborhood. Yesterday, we went with some friends and their kids to zoo boo and our son managed to keep his chicken costume on the whole time! It was a lot of fun and he was too adorable running around as a big fluffy chicken.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I am cautiously optimistic...since getting my Mirena IUD out 6 months ago this is only the 2nd cycle that has seemed normal (others have been short, weird cramping, etc) and that I've had EWCM. Sooooo FX! Also, this is the cycle 4(!) year ago that I got KU with DS.

We did some pumpkin carving over the weekend..DS wasn't super into it but I had fun! Haha I'm such a kid at heart. DS is going to be a firefighter, I'll be a dalmatian, and MH will be a fire hydrant lol. Our neighborhood goes all out (I'm talking haunted houses, crazy decorations, etc) so we'll take DS out but it could be a bit too scary for him so we'll play it by ear.

@lillywonderland so sorry about HFM. We had it in August and IT.WAS.AWFUL! I felt like I got hit by a train not to mention poor DS. FX you have some time to rest up!

@mamanbebe Camping sounds so fun! You must live somewhere warm! Makes me shiver to think about camping around here this time of year!

@marebear15 Yes! O syncs with full moon and AF syncs with new moon. I remember sooo many TTGPs were synced with the full moon and moved over to TWW en masse, then off to June they went!

@marebear15 Ehh, PP have spoken. I keep meaning to make a dentist appt for my little guy but TBH he still needs like a lot of teeth. He has gotten his teeth a little late(ish). We brush 1x a day now, but I need to do it in the am also. FX for your ED plan. I almost killed DH when we did it back to back this cycle, so hopefully that did the trick! 🤣

Thanks for all the love about CD2, TFAS! I think I'm in a better place now. Plus, DH is doing bedtime so I get to hide in the basement for a bit. Bedtime at our house goes much better if DH takes care of it and I stay far away. Anybody else have that experience?

@montee1917 I suffer from migraines too, but mine usually come at O or right before or at the start of AF. Magnesium is rumored to help, but I didn't have any luck with it. I need the heavy duty triptans for mine.

Rant/Rave/Brag: dd had a 4 day weekend and dh had work. For some reason summer was easier than this. It was "mommy... " nonstop.

GTKY: What are your Halloween plans? What is LO going to be? Do you dress up also? Do you carve pumpkins together? (Basically, just talk to me about Halloween... )

We are going trick or treating at the mall and in our neighborhood. Last year was the first year we did both (we normally go with my sister and her children). I wish we would've know that some of these people are awesome. There were a lot of hot chocolate, food, and adult drinks.
Dd wants to be a witch (I still have to make it). We dress up as as well. I'm going to be witch too and dh is going to be a warlock. We are going to the pumpkin patch this weekend to get some to carve. We get one big one to carve and some tiny ones to paint.

@lillywonderland I go to the dr on Halloween! My patience is getting the best of me though. I can’t wait to get started and hopefully figure things out.

I’m also glad I’m not alone on leaving my kid to cry.

@jennifer_louise I’m jealous of your bedtime routine. It’s the exact opposite at our house. Ds listens to me better than dh, so I have to be there or Ds would be up all night.

@kbrown2385 I sometimes have to leave my kid to cry to too! There's sometimes some guilt but they gotta learn to soothe themselves too, always a bit bittersweet.

GTKY: What are your Halloween plans? What is LO going to be? Do you dress up also? Do you carve pumpkins together? (Basically, just talk to me about Halloween...🎃 👻 ) He is into animal sounds right now, so he is going to be a cow or a penguin, depending on which animal sound he is more into that night. We'll trick or treat locally until he sits down and yells at me, because, two. This is actually his first halloween, he was in the hospital last year with the measles.

And a baby the year before, so he slept in a sling.

Hello everyone! First time posting in here, i posted in the newbie thread the other day.
What number are you trying for? 3

Cycle/Month?1/1
WTO/TWW? I think TWW. I just had my IUD out on Monday, so I haven’t tracked closely yet.
Ages of other child(ren)? DS1 is 4 and DS2 is 21 months
Any thoughts about this cycle? First cycle TTC, so just trying to pay attention to my body. I had the paragard IUD so cycles should be the same off of it.
Any questions? Not yet! Rant/Rave/Brag: DS2 has had night terrors the last two nights. It’s so awful to watch because there’s is nothing to do but let him be, and wait until it ends. He had a fever for 3 days, so we’re hoping that is what caused them, and it won’t be a regular occurrence.

DS1 is going to be a fireman and DS2 is going to be a Dalmatian! We don’t really decorate for Halloween, but we go trick or treating at a friends neighborhood, and paint pumpkins! We also carve a pumpkin, but in this awful FL heat it usually doesn’t last long! Can’t wait to go through my kids candy and grab all of the Reese’s pumpkins!
