@LJMoon6 So many hugs. I echo what tamalahoops has said. Also, it is absolutely okay to send an email and set boundaries. Like, saying, "I'm really truly happy that you have children. It's really difficult for me to hear about them since I've been trying for so long and don't have any. I try very hard to not let it bother me, but it doesn't work. Is it possible to not make that a part of our conversations going forward?" Obviously that's a part of my own personal preference but really I'm just trying to tell you that it's okay to have boundaries even with your care team.
The other thing that I do with my doctors is I email with things like, "Hey, we read that it's important to obtain more than one semen analysis because of (insert scientific reason here). Obviously you are the expert here and we trust you, but we think it would be wise for us to repeat this test to make sure we are not leaving any stone unturned. What are your thoughts?" A change in how this is said is dependent upon how important this thing on the list is to me (i.e., The compliment sandwich vs. I need this from you now).
I know it is hard to hear statistics. It's a delicate and constant balance of wanting to be hopeful with the rainbows, unicorns, and glitter, to wanting to hear it straight. It's so so hard. The things that help me the most, more than anything else is reminding myself that these doctors are just people. Infallible people. There is no conspiracy in the works to prevent me from getting a baby. Also, it's okay to not be okay. Just know that we are here for you to support you each and every step of the way. You can do this and you're going to rock at it because you are strong. Strong like bull.
@chichiphin What pps said, but also, I would add LH to the list of CD2-4 tests. As far as I know, it's important to measure FSH:LH ratio.
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

@LJMoon6 I am so sorry for the frustration you are feeling with your RE. I cannot relate in that capacity, but I went through something similar with a chronic digestive issue, and I found "journaling" my response to treatment helped me feel slightly more in control. But I'm not sure if it is helpful for others. AFM - my OB/Gyn is the one doing testing. I don't fall under the age/mo's trying yet to see an RE.
@LJMoon6 I'm am so frustrated for you! I think others gave you great advice, and while i can't remember exactly which tests I had and when since i had to go straight to IVF and didn't have IUIs. I do agree that you should write an email expressing some awareness to your doctor to be more sensitive and not to discuss her children with you at this time. It's less confrontational and yet gives clear expectations for her not to do that to you again.
@beachbunnyxo123 oh wow that is awesome news!!! So pleased that hurdle is clear!
@sparty18 have you had your AMH tested in normal range? Very early follicle recruitment (and yours does seem very early from what you say) can be a sign of low Ovarian reserve... don’t panic, but maybe ask at the next appointment... Also I get this with my lining starting to thicken before it’s completely shed from the previous month and if this happens too many months in a row basically implantation is very low chance as it’s not really got the right structures and is “fresh” enough... Again, I would ask and especially make sure the lining is trilaminar before trigger.
@ljmoon6 I don’t think I could write it any better than @tamalahoops. She hit the nail on the head. Feel what you need to feel though, nothing is wrong. As for the odds, we have been told less than 1% chance with assisted techniques, basically negligible without. So 90% of the time, I’m in the “fcuk it, I’ll show you” mindset. Hence IVF#8... if someone says I can’t do something I do tend of try to make it my mission to prove them wrong, but this is different to most things as hard work doesn’t overcome it...
@blackhottamales of course you’re welcome old friend. It’s ok to switch between pretending you “know” it won’t work and dreaming about it working from moment to moment. And my DH also side eyes me when I’m on estrogen and I get all emotional...
@alohakumu I hope you can fit everything in to still get in this year... the amount of time between transfers is the worst...

For real though, thank you for that insight. The RE did not include AMH in my early testing, which I was annoyed about. It is already on my list to request it at our follow-up discussion appt next week. My cycles have always been short though, so it's not like I have seen a change in the last couple of years or anything, so hopefully that is a good sign.
I'm glad things went well at your baseline (other than the battlefield) and you are ready to tackle round 8!
@tamalahoops That is a really great way of looking at it. I
just need to keep reminding myself of the little victories every step of the
way. I go through a roller coaster of emotion throughout the day of thinking it’s
never going to work, to being so hopeful. It’s so weird.
@purplg8r It’s good to know that not everyone had multiple
SAs done. After looking at the results again, and doing more research, I think
his is actually pretty good. I feel like I can breathe a little bit better
about that.
@Sparty18 It never really occurred to me that some women
aren’t as well versed in all this than we are… I couldn’t imagine getting this
far in the process and not do any research about my body or tests or treatment.
It seems crazy to me, but I’m guessing now that there are plenty of women out
there like that. Is there anything they can do to stop your body from Oing
early?
@suzycupcake Thanks for the love and support, friend. I am
so nonconfrontational that I probably won’t say anything (Minnesota nice).
Venting to you guys really helped. I’m hoping most of the appointments will be
with the nurse or U/S tech, and I won’t have to see my RE very much at all. I
think halfway through her story she realized she shouldn’t be talking about her
kids but it was too late to change the topic. I do definitely want to hear it
straight. I’m a math/numbers and sciencey person so I appreciate them a lot.
But I do need more rainbows and butterflys because I’m a pretty pessimistic
person already. The statistics are not helping.
@chichiphin Actually, writing it all down and sharing it
with you guys was very helpful.
@blackhottamales Like I told suzy, I am so
nonconfrontational. I just mostly needed to vent to your guys. I could never
say something to her, even in an email. I realize that her kids are a big part
of her life, so I just need to be a little less sensitive, I guess.
@emmasemm I am definitely swaying between “this will never
work” and “this is our golden ticket.” I’m so glad IVF#8 is green lighted! Grow
follies, grow! Hopefully your poor left ovary will still be able to produce some follies. Is there any concern about that?

@beachbunnyxo123 I generally suffer with some anxiety, so I know that I am going to go through a lot of it through this process. Trying to find things to distract myself, so started making a quilt. Such amazing news! I am so happy for you!! One more step done.
@whatsbumpinpumpkin Hope you get that call back soon and don't have to wait too long. So much waiting all the time.
@chichiphin I think all the other ladies have given you solid advice on what to test/when. Hope you get to test soon and get some good results too.
@AlohaKumu Oh friend that is such disappointing news.I am so sorry. I really hope that there is enough time for your lining to recover in order to transfer before your clinic closes. I know the scheduling is something that we had to deal with too. FX!
@blackhottamales You being emotional about how much love YH gave me a chuckle. Hopefully being emotional doesn't hang around for too long. Less than 2 weeks to go!
@LJMoon6 Wow, just wow. I am so frustrated for you that the Dr was so careless with what she was saying to you. She really should know better. As for the SA, our clinic required MH to have a really indepth SA done by their own clinic. We had had one done previously but it was not good enough for them. I am not sure if they would have still done a second if we had not had one done before hand though. I think in your situation I would try and push to have another one done. So much can change in such a short time period.
@emmasemm Round #8, hoping it all goes smoothly for you!
I'm not sure if i belong here, but i participated in the dailies, and then stopped because i just felt i had too much going on to keep up. Now after a yearly GYN check up, things have...developed, i guess. During the exam he felt cysts, had an ultra sound and came back with 3 complex cysts. Endometriosis isn't ruled out.
Diagnosis (if you've been): N/A - starting to test what is going on.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): I have a repeat ultra sound and HSG scheduled for Monday afternoon
How are things going?: this week has been rough.
Any questions?: i have a million questions, and i don't even know where to start.
GTKY: What song(s) do you listen to that help to lift your mood? My go to is Hanson. no specific songs. I'm just a complete Hanson junkie and they make me happy.
@yooosara I remember when you were participating (you were one of my fellow BB fans, right?). Sorry to see you here and for everything you are going through. I hope the upcoming u/s and HSG gives some more clear answers for your next steps.
@yooosara Happy to have you back with us! Sorry you’ve had a tough go at it here recently I hope your u/s and HSG go well on Monday and you can start getting answers. Hang in there. We’re all here to support you!
@emmasemm I hope round 8 goes smoothly from here. I’ll be looking for your updates and sending positive vibes your way for a great round 8! @blackhottamales welcome. I can so relate to the tears/being overly emotional. I’ve been crying at all sorts of things lately that I would never normally cry about. @LJMoon6 thank you for the positivity. I hope you keep a little for yourself too. It is so, so hard at times, and sometimes just not possible, and that’s why you have us, to vent to, to complain to, to DD. you’ve already gotten some great feedback from these ladies. So I will just add that my initial appt with the RE was very similar (minus that awful chit chat you had at the end. That was just not okay). I think a lot of times they approach the initial consult with the idea that the patient has no idea and they discuss basics of infertility and stats. So, my advice advocate for yourself and what you want. You’ve educated yourself and there is nothing wrong with questioning or challenging your doctor. In the end this is your experience/emotions/money. To answer your question about meds, my RE preferred femera bc of the side effects. I would guess there is more info on clomid success rates bc it has been around a lot longer.
AFM, I realize I haven’t updated in a while. I still don’t have a date for ER. I went for monitoring yesterday and today and I go back in tomorrow. Things are progressing and I’m repeating my mantra of quality over quantity in an effort to maintain some hope for success this cycle.

@emmasemm time to get party #8 started!!
@Sparty18 Hope your TWW is going by quickly for you!
@Avrilmai Grow follies, grow!
