Re: Group 1 Check-In (EDD May 1st-7th) w/o 10/1

  • Due date/W+D: 9w 1d

Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry, Jack, The one ring.

Any appointments? Questions?: Just had my appt on Friday and all looked great! Saw the little hands wiggling and HB was at 174bpm.

Rants/Raves?: I've started feeling nauseated more frequently and eating doesn't help it go away like it used to which sucks. Although, now maybe I won't gain 50+ lbs?

How are you feeling?: Overall, not too bad. The usual. Tired, bloated, nauseated, headache, etc. Compared to last time though, I am feeling great!

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? An amazing vacation to Europe. It would be my first trip out of the country so I would want to hit up all of my dream destinations. Paris, the Loire Valley and Rome to name a few! Give me all the bread, wine and cheese.

  • Due date/W+D: 9W1D

Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry

Any appointments? Questions?: Nothing until the 17th of October.

Rants/Raves?: Work is driving me completely up the wall.

How are you feeling?: Guilty because my coworker has horrendous morning sickness and I'm over here like oh yea I haven't been sick sorry... Also starving ALL the time. It's become a joke with my fiance at this point that he thinks I'm having twins too based on how hungry I am all the time. (My coworker just found out she's having twins, we're due like 2 days apart).

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? Sadly my impulse want would be diapers and wraps for the next baby (I cloth diaper and love handwoven babywearing wraps). Those things are fun to me lol. Second thought would be a dream honeymoon to Ireland, Italy or Australia.

  • @zuuls_mom I was hoping to not gain as much this time since I’m so nauseated and I had zero nausea with my first 2...and gained approx 60lb each! But alas...the cravings are still here so my excessive eating doesn’t seem to be slowing down despite the nausea lol. Oh well, we shall see I guess!! Glad you’re feeling better with this pregnancy, that has to be a relief.

    Due date/W+D: May 1. 9wk 6days

Baby is the size of a(n): water bottle cap

Any appointments? Questions?: No appointments. That will be next week!

Rants/Raves?: The weather here blows! I need to move to Florida! Fall in Michigan has officially started and it’s been cold and rainy for 3 days. I’m already over it.

How are you feeling?: The same as the past few weeks. Nauseated randomly throughout the day, nothing really helps. Super tired, etc.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy?

Tropical vacation with all the perks, fly first class, swim up pool room and all!!!

  • Due date/W+D: 8w+6

Baby is the size of a(n): pygmy seahorse, a gummy bear, raspberry.

Any appointments? Questions?:  I want my ultrasound appt so badly, but I have to wait 8 more days!  I just want to know that everything is ok and it's so frustrating that my first appt is at 10 weeks when already AMA.  I'm not typically overly anxious, but I'm so so so over waiting.

    Rants/Raves?:  See above.  :'(

How are you feeling?: Ok. I'm still nauseated and tired mid-afternoon until early evening.  I am starting to wake up nauseous too which is always fun.  I'm getting to the point where I think I might start tossing my cookies regularly, which never really happened much last time.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? Does paying off student loans count?  I know that sounds ridiculously lame, but to have those gone would be so incredibly liberating!  It would literally give us a huge pay raise each month...like pay-for-another-little-one-to-go-through-daycare-each-month raise.  But if that doesn't count, then I'd go on a huge vacay to South East Asia...so bask in the rays and white, sandy beaches...ah!  Heaven!

  • @fuscok88 omgee I love handwoven baby wraps too! Which weaver is your fave?! I have a Chicibeanz ring sling being converted for me and I cannot waaaaait to put this little squishy baby in it! I love all things baby wearing so I will totally nerd out on this stuff with you lol.

@MaggieG183 don't worry, my first thought is always paying off debt too! We will be paying H's loans off for the rest of our lives  :'(

  • Due date/W+D: Due 5/5, currently 9w1d

Baby is the size of a(n): Grape

Any appointments? Questions?: I had blood work done last week, and my platelets were really high... like more than double the normal max, which, of course, according to Dr. Google means I have cancer, or something else possibly seriously wrong, and that I could get blood clots in the placenta, which would be dangerous for the baby. Had blood redrawn today to see if it's really a thing or just a fluke... currently waiting impatiently for results.

Rants/Raves?: I have been craving bland-ish foods, and last night I got it in my head that I wanted white pizza, so I got a thin-crust white pizza from Domino's with ham and roasted red peppers, and that sucker was amazingly delicious. Like, topped every pizza I've ever had from a chain joint ever. I ate almost the whole thing between dinner yesterday and lunch today. Mmmmmm. I want more.

How are you feeling?: Yesterday I was a walking corpse. Today I foolishly tried to wear heels and my feet were screaming by the end of the day. Also I fell, which was glamorous.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? I honestly have no clue. Maybe a trip to Hawaii or Japan. Never been to Hawaii, and I would love to go. I play ukulele, so I would probably get a nice one while there if my $10k would cover it.

  • @maggieg183 If student loans were an option I would 100% pay those too. That's a massive payment each month.

@zuuls_mom Pretty Paisley and Honour Handwovens are two of my favorites but I only have Pretty Paisley's so far. Honour's are a bit pricier but I want one sooo bad. They both tend to do geeky inspired wraps so I basically need them all. I just ordered 2 new PP Ring Slings in her recent stocking because I have no self control and I couldn't choose (one is Outlander and one is Fantastic Beasts).
  • @fuscok88 I just searched both of those and they are so talented! I love all the Harry Potter stuff! I used to have more handwoven stuff (an Erizo Tula and another Chicibeanz ring sling), but sold them since we weren't wearing as much anymore now that my son is bigger. I am really excited to wear another baby. I want to buy more stuff, but I will probably have to be super choosy since it's all so expensive!

  • @zuuls_mom I had a lot of machine wovens with my son and only like 2 Pretty Paisley's. Harry Potter is what brought me to Pretty Paisley. They did a wrap made to look like the blanket Harry is swaddled in when he is brought to Privet Drive. I still wear my son occasionally but mostly in the Tula or RS. He doesn't have the patience for a wrap anymore. I cannot wait to have a new squish to wrap.
  • Due date/W+D: 5/1, 6 weeks 5 days

Baby is the size of a(n): cherry, or water bottle cap

Any appointments? Questions?: had my first prenatal appointment in Wednesday, it was amazing! Heard heartbeat on doppler, 185 :) we get another ultrasound on Friday and I'm so excited to see a little baby instead of just a blob!

Rants/Raves?: rave, husband found out that his company offers 6 weeks of fully paid paternity leave! I'm so stoked. We will probably use 3 weeks at the beginning and tack on the other 3 weeks at the end of my FMLA leave to help my transition back to work go smoother.  Rant, husband's family leaves in a disney world trip on Friday and I'm crushed we can't go :(

How are you feeling?: pretty good overall! Still getting waves of nausea before lunch, but they are manageable. I've also been sleeping better so that's a big plus.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? Probably travel! My husband and I are travel junkies, so I'd love 10k to split up between a couple amazing vacations. Hawaii is next on our list, but Italy and Ireland are also top of our list. I'd also love to go to disney again and another disney cruise... lol travel is the only reason why I keep working.

@zuuls_mom Paris is amazing! I also would love to travel the Loire valley, so beautiful.

@MaggieG183 sorry about the constant nausea, it really is the worst. I ended up sitting in the breakroom today for 5 minutes trying to tamp down a wave of nausea. On a different note, paying off student loans totally counts! Is so nice not to have them hanging over your head.

@brie_and_almonds Good luck with the repeat bloodwork! And that's really cool that you play the ukelele!

  • @sagems10 6 weeks paid paternity leave! That is amazing!!! Super jealous of that one. DH works in sales. So he can make his own schedule. He will most likely take a couple weeks off around when baby comes, but it’ll also mean small paydays for a while unless he amps up the volume for a couple weeks beforehand. He’s not so good at planning ahead and knowing my pregnancy brain, I will forget to remind him to make sure he does. Just living on the edge over here. 😂
  • @sagems10 your husband's paternity leave sounds great! That will be perfect to help with both transitions.

I got my bloodwork back, and my platelets are still more than double what they should be... I'm hoping my Dr's office calls me today to talk about what that will mean.

  • Due date/W+D: 5/1, 9w6d

Baby is the size of a(n): southern pecan

Any appointments? Questions?: My first appointment with OB is Monday, 10/8. I CANNOT wait! I had an intro appointment with a MA on 9/20. I haven’t got to hear a heartbeat or have an U/S, yet and the anxiety from not knowing is really getting to me.

Rants/Raves?: I wish my OB listened for a heartbeat sooner! I’m a worrier and this waiting has been hard! I keep reading comments from people who have had both heartbeat and U/S checks already and I’m jealous.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. A little bit of nausea and sore boobs the past few weeks, but both gone now. Mostly just feeling tired, now. This is my second and by this point last time I was feeling all the nausea. I kinda wish I was feeling stronger symptoms because it would be reassuring.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? I’d probably save it for a vacation when my kiddos are older and can enjoy it too.

  • Due date/W+D: May 4, 9w3d

Baby is the size of a(n): southern pecan

Any appointments? Questions?: Next Tuesday! I'm kinda pumped to see my midwife again.

Rants/Raves?: I've got nothing today. I'm feeling so drained, I can barely bring myself to even fill this out.

How are you feeling?: See above - drained. So exhausted despite going to bed so early every night. I woke up at about 2 am and slept like shit for the rest of the night. Nauseous, puking every morning, usually before breakfast, but I almost brought up my toast this morning. I cannot wait to get my hands on some diclegis next week.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? Housekeeping services. For as long as the 10K lasts. I absolutely hate cleaning. If I can afford to have someone else do it for me... I would love it so much. Wait - is that considered fun?

  • @brie_and_almonds I hope you get some answers soon!

@k2k2tog Brilliant. A housekeeper would be amazing, especially during pregnancy when I'm tired all the time or when baby is first born when no one is sleeping lol.
  • @fuscok88 haha I cloth diaper and baby wear too, buy all the diapers! I was shopping online yesterday for a new carrier. Oops.

This thread is for those due May 1 - 7!

    Due date/W+D: 9w4d

Baby is the size of a(n): tater tot!

Any appointments? Questions?: next appt is Thursday, fingers crossed everything looks good

    Rants/Raves?:

How are you feeling?: bloated and gassy. Not even farting, just like painful gas in my stomach. And I’m always hungry but then I’m so uncomfortable after I eat. The nausea has subsided a bit but that just makes me nervous.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy? Haha furniture? Can that count as fun? I’d probably spend $3000 on new furniture and the rest on a European vacation. We went to Italy/Greece/Switzerland a few years ago and it was amazing. I can’t wait to get back someday and explore some more countries.

  • @k2k2tog YES house cleaning services! I am deeming it fun because it frees up more time for you to have fun.

@zuuls_mom A Europe trip sounds so amazing!  Nothing can go wrong with all the wine, cheese, and bread.

@fuscok88 I just got a Lillebaby ring sling and love it, but I'm not great at using it. I need to look at the Harry Potter one you mentioned!

    Due date/W+D: 5/2, 9+5

Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry/grape/water bottle cap

Any appointments? Questions?:  Had our first ultrasound with the OB on Friday, everything was great!  I cried in the office, I was so relieved to see the little wiggleworm.  The NP was so wonderful, she let us look at them for a long time, the little one did a little fetus dance that we managed to capture on camera and we saw them touching his/her face. So amazing.

Rants/Raves?:  You guys.  I am at my wits end with NIPT testing. It's not only not covered by my insurance under the age of 35 - they won't even RUN THE TEST even though I'm willing to pay out of pocket.  So I did research for days, called pretty much everywhere in my area trying to get the test, and a consult to order the test, and FINALLY got a reasonably-priced consult and test.  And then DH decides this is a hill to die on, and he just wants to do the NT screening/integrated bloodwork.  I almost started crying in my office.  I may just do the test and not tell him.  Is that terrible? Am I a terrible person?

How are you feeling?: Like crying every second, and also some stretching/pulling and on and off again nausea. But mostly the crying thing.

GTKY: You're given $10K as a gift and told to spend it on something fun. What would you buy?  Wow, what a hard question! I have no idea.  We just got a new house, so probably would put all of it towards updates/paint/furniture.  I have no idea how to execute any ideas so maybe would get some professional design help with that.

  • @aels12 with my son I didn't use newborn diapers because we expected him to be pretty large (9lbs 9oz 23 inches) so he went straight into one size. This one we're hoping is much smaller because of the different genes so I'm buying ALL the newborn diapers. Thankfully my fiancé is 100% on board and is just glad I'm not buying more OS for the 2 year old. And furniture should totally count. It's fun to pick it out. It's fun to move it around 14 times to get the perfect layout lol

@mrsdee15 LilleBaby didn't have the Ring Slings yet when I first found them. They've expanded sooo much since my son was born, which is awesome but now I want all the carriers. And that is so frustrating about the testing! All that work an hubs changes his mind!? Annoying

This is the HP print. I was trying to find a wearing photo but they're buried in my phone. I only have it as a blanket and scarf now.
  • @fuscok88 I LOVE those!! I'm thinking really seriously about a HP nursery for baby 2, so these are fantastic!  And I love the idea of repurposing the slings.  I'll take all the Harry Potter things, please.

  • @aels12 and @fuscok88 I have 2 ring slings at the moment that are linen Sakura Bloom that I used with my first. They are so soft and worn in and lovely BUT I’m totally buying an onbuhimo for this one once their a bit older and can support their head. Some of their weaves lately have just been stunning! I also cloth diaper and Grovia (headquartered in my hometown) just came out with two new prints and I’m dying! I am totally going to buy them (I always buy 2 of the same print too because I’m obsessed) and hide them from DH as I promised him we’d be working on potty training this month and buying more diapers would be defeating the purpose... But they are too amazing and I just need all the diapers!!!
  • *lurking from group 3* I am loving the carrier conversation and hope we can start a thread (or maybe just part of the "what you'll need" thread eventually) as May get closer. I was always intimidated by the ring slings but have a couple different wraps I love so interested in experiences/suggestions!

  • @mrsdee15 I'm right there with you. I need all the HP and Firefly. I may have an obscene number of wraps inspired by this show.

@MaggieG183 Sakura Bloom's feel so nice! I've never owned one but they carry them at a local natural parenting store and they're lovely. I've been thinking about getting an onbuhimo for when my belly is too big to be comfy with a buckle carrier since my 2 year old still demands ups sometimes but he is also huge and I can use the bump as an excuse for my fiance to wear him instead lol. Grovia is one of the brands I haven't tried before! Blueberries worked the best for us with my son. He has terrible eczema so nearly everything but the organic cotton irritated him. I am right there with you buying all the diapers though.

@kvh22 I would love a carrier thread. They can be super intimidating for parents who haven't worn before and the lingo/acronyms, especially with wrapping can be a big deterrent. I struggled so hard with a ring sling when my son was itty bitty but once I figured it out it became my favorite. There are some really good YouTube tutorials but the best help for me was a friend showing me how to pretighten around my elbow to make a pocket. Total game changer.
  • +1 for a carrier thread! I could talk about/oogle them all day! This reminds me I need to check on the status of my Chicibeanz ring sling!

  • @fuscok88 I’ve never tried Blueberries but DS has pretty sensitive skin too (eczema on his cheeks and back of his arms usually. Rarely will he break out on his toosh, thank goodness!) and we use the organic cotton snap-in inserts for him with the Grovia hybrid system and looooove it!

I always wait for the Sakura Bloom sample sale they have once a year, otherwise I’d never be able to afford them. I was able to try two out before I purchased though with our carrier lending library at our natural baby store. I’m really hoping for a silk to use next winter and I feel ya on the onbuhimo as the bump grows. DS is almost 2 and very much wants to be carried on the regular. I’m asking Santa for Christmas...FX! Otherwise, it’ll be a non-negotiable come spring.
  • @maggieg183 You definitely need a silk if possible! I got a silk blend RS last year for Christmas and it is amazing. Still super supportive with my 33 lbs 2 year old so at least I can back carry him with it when my bump is too big if I can't get an onbuhimo. I didn't know Sakura Bloom did a sample sale every year. I may have to check it out not that I need an excuse to get any more carriers...

@fuscok88 they always announce it through  their Facebook baby wearing page, but I’ll let you know before it happens. It’s amazing!
  • FTM here so I've never had any experience baby wearing, but I'm excited to try it out! Just from looking at them, the wraps like the moby look sooo comfortable to me so that's what I've been leaning towards. I'm not sure about the ring sling type because it looked more uncomfortable with the ring and only carrying the weight on one shoulder. Not true? I haven't heard of the kinds you've mentioned, so I'll have to look those up! Thoughts?

I'm also really excited to cloth diaper, so we should definitely start a thread as may gets closer!
  • @sagems10 I loved my moby when my son was itty bitty but he was 9.9 pounds and very quickly gained enough that my moby wasn't comfortable anymore. Since it's a stretchy wrap it's great for little babies but once they get a little heavier it doesn't have enough support, in my opinion. My son was always sagging down in in and I'd have to retighten. I'm excited to break it back out again with this next baby!
  • That makes sense! Thanks for the input :)

If you’re interested in the moby, I would jump right to a woven wrap. They’re put on in the same way, but because they aren’t stretchy, and the fabric is super strong, they can be used foreeeever. As in, I’ve seen pictures of women carrying their 200 lb husbands on their back in a woven wrap. Your kid literally cannot grow out of them.

  • Haha that is hilarious, but awesome! Definitely the less stuff I have to buy for this baby the better, so something that works for newborn and up would be ideal!
  • @k2k2tog yes! Women's last forever! Especially with all the blends available. I went to a babywearing convention last year and one of the mom's wrapped another mom and wore her easily for 30-40 minutes comfortable.
  • Since so many of you ladies love woven wraps, I’m totally going to show off a wrap I split with someone that I’m having converted into a ring sling!! The other piece is becoming a structured carrier (Blue Hibou). Here’s my beautiful Chicibeanz Earth Maiden 😍
