@fatstagnation Didn't have advice, but glad LO is okay! Nora gets the same overtired/overhungry so she can neither sleep nor eat insanity from time to time.
@mccurleya LO is literally an inch away from the height limit so we are looking for one also. There are way too many brands to choose from. So far I'm liking the Chicco Nextfit. Amazon has been having some really good sales recently some were up to 50% off.
Thanks everyone for the wishes! We (our house and my MIL’s) is still out of power but we have water. It’s still raining and windy here. But we’re safe. @mccurleya, we did a rear facing to front facing convertible seat once DD1 grew out of her infant seat. They’re more bulky but some can be converted to a regular booster that’ll last until the kids don’t need a booster anymore. I personally prefer the Graco lines.
So we had our 6 month check up today. LOs head is on the flatter side and they talked about a helmet. They said they wouldn't do anything about it right now but if I'm not seeing changes by 8/9 months then she'll send in the referral. Anyone have experience with helmets?
@sgrn18 No experience personally, but I have a friend whose daughter needed the helmet. It seemed relatively painless (she only had to wear it for a few weeks) and I think the issue fully resolved. Hoping your LO won't wind up needing the helmet or that things go smoothly and quickly if you do!
@sgrn18 I found this woman's blog helpful and took one of her free e-mail courses ( a set of 4 emails on how to play with newborn). This link is her pitch for her book on how to stop and reverse a flattening head. I haven't read it, but you might want to check out the amazon reviews and give it a try. https://www.candokiddo.com/news/the-flat-head-syndrome-fix
I also know of a kid who wore the helmet and it's not that bad when necessary. Good luck.
I just signed up for her "stress-free solids" course and will report back in the solids thread if I learn anything good.
In other news, we're sick. It's not real bad, thank goodness. But poor Vinny. Wakes herself up when she coughs out the pacifier. Now I wonder if that bad day we had was the first day of a cold.
My cousin’s little girl had to wear a helmet for about a month this summer. It seemed pretty easy and quick treatment plus she had it decorated and doned with a cute bow. Hopefully it corrects itself before then.
So about three years ago, my husband and I adopted our second dog. My husband was so excited - he even went through the rescue site's logs online, found info on our pup, and posted a whole Facebook thing about our new dog. At least he thought he did: it was the wrong dog and he couldn't tell the pictures apart although it was VERY obvious. I have never laughed so hard or felt such unadulterated joy in my life.
Cut to today, when my husband starts texting me. "Sometimes I can't get over how big Nora's getting. Look at the day care cameras! She can sit up and move around so well now! They even have her on the 'big babies' side today!" ...guys. He was looking at the wrong baby 😂
These are the things that make marriage worth it!!
Also, thank God I do day care pick-up - he'd come home with the wrong kid!
@ashtuesday, that’s hilarious! I have a similar story. I have lots of magnetic photo holders with pics of the girls set up in my office at work collage style (think about 30 total). I switch them out as I print newer pictures (once every few months). DH was there dropping me off lunch and asked why I hadn’t switched out the old photo of Lily (DD1) for something more recent. I told him, “because that’s Luna (DD2)” and started laughing. My neighbors overhear the commotion of him insisting that it’s Lily and we all got a huge laugh when I pointed out the picture right above showing both girls with our dog and Luna’s wearing the same onesie. Now we play a game with the Facebook memories. I save the photo to my phone and see if he can tell it’s an older picture of Lily (about half the time he can’t)...lol. But I’ve gotta give him a pass- our girls do look extraordinarily alike.
Nate has this rash looking thing all over his but and upper thighs. Some spots are raised. He doesn't seem bothered by it, but it looks awful. His butt area is also bright red. Any idea why this is happening?
What's the number for mommy HR? When we call in sick they send a temp, right?
JK, but seriously, ugh. I just want to stay in bed and watch movies, but LO still has all the energy, even with a snotty nose. Which, she hates it when I wipe her nose.
@DDRRT1982. I have family that hunts hogs in Cuero, tx. Should I go visit her? I could hardly understand what I was reading lol cracked skull sounds like a TBI, 2 bc babies, doesnt want to put the dad on the birth certificate....weird.
Also what happened in the nov14 bmb? Lol
In other news, LO is getting another tooth and he is giving me a run for my money today.
@mccurleya, I’d monitor it. That looks a little like the hand, foot, and mouth that our older child got (and luckily did not give to the baby) but that usually shows up in the extremities first. Maybe something in the poo is bothering him- was a new food started recently?
Nora has her first cold. She was sent home from day care yesterday because she threw up - my husband picked her up, then we took her to the doctor when I got home to make sure it wasn't the stomach bug we had last week. It's just a cold and she's acting mostly fine, but boy, is this girl sleepy! She napped from 4 PM - 10 PM yesterday, had a bottle, slept from 10:30 PM - 6:00 AM, had a bottle and played a bit, and now has been napping since 7 AM. I've had a cold for the past week myself, and I couldn't be more jealous of how she's sleeping it off! My sweet pup!
@mccurleya, DD1 had issues with squash (got a rash on her trunk area). Showed up on day 3 of the intro testing. We just avoided all gourds per peds instructions and reintroduced after she was a year old. We haven’t had any issues since then. Glad his went away with cream!
I just put this together and cried my eyes out. My baby isn't so little anymore and none of my friends understand this feeling because they don't have children.
@mccurleya - I love that and have been having a lot of tears lately especially after seeing my babes next to his newborn cousin. Why does it go so fast?
Re: September Randoms
@maelily15 Stay safe!!
@maelily15 - thinking of you!

ETA: We did that trade in deal at Target and got 20% off plus it was already on sale!
