  • @mermaidca I would have thought I was the one with an unpopular opinion for not liking that look!

@2babes3angels I have a vendetta against decaf coffee, but I will try not to judge you.

As for my unpopular opinion, I hate talking about TV.  I think it is bad enough that we all spend so much time watching it (and believe me, I do) and that it is even worse to waste more time talking about it.  When people bring up TV shows as a conversation topic I completely shut off.

  • My UO is that I wish my kids were at home right now and not at school. All the other parents are excited for school to start every fall and I’m just sad.

  • @2babes3angels Scandalous! I maintain that the only use for decaf coffee is throwing it at people. Lol.
    this is my backup acct.

  • @piccola1988 I agree, but then again, I spend a lot of time rehashing sports with friends so I'm probably not much better.  A facebook friend is starting a podcast JUST to discuss Bravo shows and was looking for volunteers and I could hardly think of something I'm LESS interested in.

@2babes3angels decaf coffee is basically only for after dinner coffee with booze drinks when we go out to fancy dinners and I don't want to go home yet.

@mermaidca I can appreciate it.  DH is bald which is a big departure from my previous very hirsute manfriends.

  • @MRDCle I’m not sure after dinner is a suitable time for decaf ...I mean, I need to stay awake on the drive home, right? Give me caf!

I do appreciate @2babes3angels’ rationale though, and don’t hate decaf so long as it’s clearly indicated.
  • Psssh if I'm out to a fancy dinner chances are we Ubered! Though if I have plans AFTER said fancy dinner...I will have caffeinated.
    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • @mrdcle haha doesn’t mean you should sleep in the Uber!
Also, I haven’t ubered home from a restaurant in like three years. I’ve nearly forgotten what it’s like.
  • I side eye parents when I see their kids (at any age) are glued to a tablet/phone out in public.  I know they can sometimes be helpful (been there, done that) but I think it's good to teach kids how to behave in public and how to socialize with other people.
  • @gollygeeitsamy yes!!!  I was at a restaurant and the family in the booth across from us had their kid's tablet on so loud I had to speak louder to my own table!  It's one thing to have them on it, but then to also have the volume up?!  Nope!  I get the allure of it, but I don't plan on doing that with my kids.  Also - I don't even have a tablet, I'm not getting my kids any!!

  • I think wine, beer, alcohol in general smells disgusting and tastes bad too.
  • @wearegroot totally agree with you on coffee and people said all those same things to me. I do like a peppermint mocha but on a daily basis I don’t drink coffee. I actually don’t think caffine even affects be like it suppose to
@gollygeeitsamy I give my kids my phone to let me finish my dinner(when out) and to get thru grocery shopping . If we go out to dinner the kids don’t get a phone till after they’ve eaten. But since I always order their food first there’s always time at the end when they’re done eating and I am not. They both have iPads (for their low vision) but 99% of the time I don’t charge them so they don’t use them.

My UO is I don’t think it’s necessary to serve alcohol at children’s parties. There’s no reason for an adult to need a drink during a 2 hour party that’s for kids. (This is a sore spot for me because my in laws have a drinking problem.)
  • haha I frequently get those responses. and @thatbaintforbetty I literally lol-ed at that!
@gollygeeitsamy I have to agree! I get the allure of it, but I just don't want to go down that road with my kiddos.
@baya5 literally never been to a kid's party with alcohol. didn't know that was a thing lol

  • @baya5 I've never been to a party with alcohol.  We have done a combo birthday party/outdoor BBQ for friends and family sort of thing where it happens to fall on a birthday and we incorporate it.  I have an in-law with a serious drinking problem and feel you there.  I used to try to keep all chances of alcohol away from her, but she always gets it some way or another so I've sadly given up.

  • @mermaidca Any party with alcohol? Or kid party with alcohol?

We served alcohol (white wine, rose, beer) at our daughter’s first birthday. It wasn’t super prominent, and most was left over, but since a lot of family stayed for dinner too, it became mostly evening drinks. When it shifts to a party for kids rather than a party for adults, I’ll probably drop the booze.
  • Yes, @lyse01 I meant I've never been to a kids party with alcohol.  Missed a key word there.

In defense of tv when out to dinner... we didn’t have a babysitter for a full year, for a variety of complicated reasons. So we go out to eat as a family about once a week. But about once a month during that year, we’d go to a nicer restaraunt, give our kid headphones and his kindle, and have ourselves a “date”. I hope people weren’t judging us too harshly, we were making it work for our family!

@2babes3angels I had to give up coffee because I nearly got an ulcer back in April. I miss the routine so much more than I miss the drunk!
^^ETA that was supposed to say “drink”

My UO is that I LOVE super cheesy romance novels. Like Nora Roberts and Courtney Milan. Trashy novels are okay. But I’d rather read a sappy romance any day.
  • @hcr0322 Which cruise line did you go on? That definitely makes a difference.
  • @hcr0322 yes and also there’s never enough time in port to properly explore.
  • Damnit it never posts my whole post!!!! With 2 kids under 2 I did what I need to do to get by! No regrets. Live smarter, not harder!!

Unpopular opinion: I think cruises are trash and someone would have to pay me to go on another one, not the other way around. Maybe one around Europe or Alaska would be neat but I get so bored being stuck on a boat
Gah! Cruises are my favorite!! Royal is my jam! I’ve never cruised with kids though. I bet I would not like that. I loved prekids cruising though!
  • @professormama I think anyone who would judge for that probably doesn’t have kids or just kind of sucks and must be perfect and in that case I judge them for judging lol

i haaaaate any sort of romance books but I love me some Stephen King!!! He is all I read!
  • @mermaidca I am from the PNW and my husbands hair is down to the middle of his back. I get it :)

  • I loved coffee- before pregnancy. Now, I hardly have any interest. It’s not repulsive, but also not lucrative.

After dinner coffee has has never been my jam. I’ve always found it odd to drink after noon-ish.

I would agree with finding it annoying when people have to have booze at a kid centered party. Like choosing Chuck-E-Cheese solely bc it’s acceptable to drink (warm, watery) beer there.

I’m not sure where this group lies- I would rather take a warm bath over a shower most any day. Showers are a hastle & always feel rushed.
  • @jrm_14 I think that was mine last week.  I don't like baths, Jacuzzis whatever. I get bored!

  • @wearegroot Carnival both times so maybe that would make a difference but both times I just ended up getting bored out of my mind, I like exploring on vacation
  • @hcr0322 I had a feeling you were going to say Carnival. They have a reputation for being kind of trashy. You definitely have to find the right line and the right itinerary...and avoid Nassau.

Same. I get hot and bored and anxious. I can take a quick shower and go lay on my bed to relax.

  • @sdelg09 I hate gender reveal parties too. And like you, I hate them even more when they play on stupid stereotypes. It’s like you’re forcing huge gender expectations on your child before they’re even born.
  • I feel like I must have a really short bathtub. I'm only about 5'4" and I'm almost sitting up and it's not comfortable. Ugh. Just not for me.

@sdelg09 they're not my cup of tea either.  And omg yes.  Bullets and bows, pistols and pearls...gag.

  • @sdelg09 I hate them, too. It feels so weird that people pick sides, and half are rooting against my child having the genitalia they have.
  • Lets see...

I only drink decaf, I prefer the taste and then if I am really tired a cup of real coffee makes a huge difference and I don't have to rely on it.

We only do phones for DD After she is done eating and I still need to eat.

I live in florida so cruise vacations are SO easy for us. but I am an explorer too so I try to pick cruises with little or no "days at sea"

    My UOs:
I still eat lunch meat when pregnant

I love spoliers in general. Books, Movies, TV shows give me all the spoilers!
