It took me a second to find the randoms but now I see it's just been a day or two without anything.  Did you guys move on to Facebook? I'll just forge onward for now.  We just got back from the beach and I can't stop eating fudge... I should stop because I can't imagine it's good for my goal of having a smaller baby... and yet here we are.

  • @crispy11 I feel the same way about ice cream. It’s only going to make a big baby bigger, but it’s so good. How was the beach?

  • @crispy11 you are a brave soul 3 kids at the beach without your H. Grandparents can be a huge help, but it’s also really different from how you and your own partner work together with your children.

Did we figure out if people moved over to Facebook? I found last time I finally had time to get in here late in pregnancy,  just as everyone left and I’d hate to see that happen again but understand if it does.
  • I think there was a private group created on the bump for more privacy.
Last we discussed I think others were not sure there would even be a Facebook group.
I hope there wasn't one created in just that private group and others can't join.
  • Also, I'm using the app which I rarely do. The Bump on my desktop has been showing an under maintenance message for well over 24 hours now. Anyone else? I go on here most evenings and I miss it cause I hate the phone app.

No idea if there's a Facebook group,  I didn't see a mention of it. I only use the app and it does tend to be much slower in evenings,  but not under maintenance.

Also yay insomnia. Woke up to pee over an hour ago, now I'm uncomfortable and hungry. Time to start the day i guess.
  • I access from the mobile site on my phone, and had the error message for a few hours, but it cleared up pretty quick. I never use the app because it glitches even more than the mobile site.

Okay ladies, super random. I want to talk dh into a new vaccum, I have one beastly one I use weekly that works fine and does everything including washing carpets. But it is bulky and not good for a quick clean up here or there, hence it only comes out once a week at most and I do everything all at once. We’ve had it for a couple years and it cost around $250 I think? Dh has never used it....

I’m torn between going robotic, and having no effort on my part but also still no ability to spot clean, or crosswave, which is basically a small lightweight quick easy version of what i have now.

We have all hardwood floors where I intend to use it, and some low pile carpet. I clean weekly to keep up and for dd’s health, I know that is about to get much harder w the new little one coming so i want to make it a little easier on myself.

Here are the links of what I’m looking at:

ILIFE V8s Robotic Mop&Vacuum Cleaner with 750ML Big Dustbin, LCD Display and Multi-task schedule function Design for Hard Floors https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0799KCRFW/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_mtUDBbZNT49VH

    Anyone with thoughts, opinions, ideas??

  • @jhjocelyn I have never used one of the two you linked, but my Roomba does let me spot clean. I just pick it up and put it where I need to spot clean and there is a button for spot cleaning. I like my roomba because it does more than I did prior to having it, but I still periodically like to use my big vacuum it has better suction for all our pet hair.
  • Can it mop too? I think I looked at Roomba but found this one washed as well as vacuumed. I plan to still need the big beast regularly for the thicker carpets and a deeper clean, but like the thought of no effort to keep a minimal clean going especially once the little one is on the move.

Our dog lives outside or in our daylight basement so we have no pet hair to contend with for now.

  • @jhjocelyn I have he Bissel Spotwave and it’s awesome. A bit of a pain to clean once you’re done using it, but it does an awesome job getting my hardwood clean. However, I use my cordless Dyson way more often for spot vacuuming. DS is too obsessed with our Roomba to use it daily, but when he was little it was great (but didn’t mop). However, our floors are often covered with toys and things which basically render our Roomba useless. It’s only good for clear floors so I’d have to clean up before running it which happens every night, but not during the day, and it’s way too loud to run at night.

  • Ooo I didn’t think about noise and toys! We have an open concept main level w a loft(but huge) bedroom... that is def something to think about.

My beastly vac is a water filter vac and taking care of  it when I’m done is also a pain, but I do love how clean it feels to use and fresh it smells.

  • I'm Roomba team too. Does wonders especially for our carpet, with the pet hair. But indeed, you have to clean up whatever is laying on the floor, but that goes for any proper vacuuming really. I would be super happy if it also mopped the hardwood floor, but no money for the super fancy ones that do both.
  • I would love a robotic vacuum, I fantasize about them sometimes.  :p DH insists that they’re a waste of money and wouldn’t work with our floor plan, but he’s not the one doing the vacuuming either. I try to do it once  a week, but recently it’s been too much for me to manage and it only gets done with the monthly maid service.  I was hoping he’d notice how gross our house was getting and cave on the roomba, but no such luck.
  • I think our floor plan just isn’t optimal for the roomba. It maybe finished a job once out of hundreds of runs. It was always getting stuck somewhere.

  • I have to shut the laundry room door or Roomba traps itself. Also it went to close to the toilet once and since the edge lifted it thought it was going off a cliff. Silly Roomba. I think it's great for in between maintenance (dog hair!) but you will still have to do some vacuuming on your own
  • I have a roomba and Dyson and like them both. The roomba often leaves dirt still so I finish up with the vacuum. I like how the roomba gets under furniture.
  • And there is a roomba that mops I think. It doesn’t vacuum and mop, but I hear the mop one is much less expensive than the vacuum.

Roomba is definitely made for open concept. Our house has halls and corners and weird spaces so I kind of corden it off in different areas. Most importantly it cleans the “lived in” spaces more often because they have more dust and dirt.
  • DH seems to think it would be a waste, bc out biggest issue is doghair... but I love the idea of it cleaning under the couch!  How much does it hold?  Like if it fills up in 4 minutes and then stops bc DOGHAIR, then it's not going to get very far in our house... :/
  • @BusinessWife I actually have to say I'm extremely impressed at how well it cleans the dog hair from our carpet,  my normal vacuum can't even clean it that well. As for how full it gets, I'd say I empty it after every run (I have 4 pets so it gets full).
  • We got an off brand Roomba once but returned it. It's party was totally random so I would watch it go over the same spot several times but never hit other spots. The width of the actual vacuum pay was also quite narrow so it would have taken it constantly running for days to finally pass over every part of the floor. Maybe a real Roomba wouldn't have those issues though, idk.
I've been wanting to get a little cordless vacuum/dust buster type thing for a while though. Toddler = crumbs everywhere! Also to use in the car. Any recommendations?

  • We have a Dyson stick vacuum specific for animal hair and I LOVE it. It costs a small fortune though, and we don’t have any carpet, just area rugs. But we never used to vacuum with a “real” vacuum, it was such a hassle to lug out and plug in. This is so simple we do it...well, before company comes over.
  • BusinessWife  Mine doesn't hold THAT much, but it does the entire house and then I empty it. That said, we do not have pets, so I do not know how fast it would fill with dog hair.
  • I'm loving this convo! We got a knock off Roomba last year. It did ok when we had one cat and one dog but with the addition of the second dog it just couldn't keep up. It's great to hear that maybe a Roomba could since we've been talking about just sucking it up (haha puns) and getting the real deal.
  • I have a roomba and for those of you with pet hair, just run it more often so there's less to pick up. The first few weeks I was frustrated because it would get a full bin in the middle of a run, but now it's doing better.
  • @Car0liiine So we have no carpet in our house, so I only had a stick vacuum-it works so well on area rugs, hard floor, etc. However, we also have baseboard heat, a flight of stairs, and couches that need a quick once over, and totally agreed on the toddler.

So we got this little gem. I love it. has a hose, so it's easy for the radiator boxes and blinds, comes with a couple tools makes the stairs super easy. We use our shop vacuum in the cars, but my mom tried it in her car and loved it, plus it's like 3 lbs or something. And cheap enough and small enough that when we get a bigger car we might get another, so one can live in the car.

  • Still actually wondering whether or not there is FB group or if you're sticking with the Bump private group?
  • Still actually wondering whether or not there is FB group or if you're sticking with the Bump private group?
And I’m wondering what the criteria is for the private group, it’s lonely out here and I’m off work in two days (aka all kinds of screen time coming up!)
  • This is completely random... but I'm going through bottles, nipples and pacifiers right now. Do you wash and sanitize them all before baby uses it or just sanitize? Also, can you just sanitize pacifiers with pacifier wipes or do they need to be sanitized with the rest?

I have been washing them, and I'll sterilize them before I use them,  because I feel like even if I do it now, I'll store them and then want to do it again before I use them. Maybe that's just me being ultra cautious.
  • @chillmama1518 @mrsman2018 I was wondering too, it has been pretty quiet here. No idea where people left!
  • @smsaulino I sterilized everything once before the first time I used it, but that was it. DS never took to pacifiers, so we never had to deal with that. With this one, I figure the dishwasher will get everything clean enough
