How far along are you? How big is baby?
22 weeks today, not quite a foot long!
How old is/are your other LOs?
He is 2
Nails and fails from this week:
Fail: DS wasn't listening to anything DH and I were saying. He was leaning against my sewing chair and hitting it and I had been telling him to stop because it's had to keep straight lines when the chair is moving. Well I went to grab the chair to move away from him and he face planted into one of the legs. I kind of underestimated how much he was actually leaning on it, I thought he'd keep his balance better. So I felt bad after that, I just hope he didn't think I did it on purpose. I did snuggle him after, but still.
Nail: we finally got to see the dinosaurs over the weekend! Friends still couldn't make it, but we went anyways. DS enjoyed it, but apparently learned a new phrase right before..."Ah! That/dinosaur scared me!" ...no kid, it didn't, you're afraid of nothing and you're just saying that. If you're scared stop looking like you're having fun lol.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Work sucks, can't wait for Friday so I can go to a baseball game with my sorority little! She's coming to town for the game, and I rarely see her anymore, so I'm really excited!
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
I really hope this child is calmer than my son. My son is a whirlwind and he just never stops moving. He's finally getting to the point where he'll watch tv for a bit, but it doesn't last long which sucks when we're trying to do house repairs or cook dinner. Sometimes I do let him help with dinner if he can, but it's not always safe for him at 2. But man, if this boy is as energetic as DS, I may lose my mind lol.
ETA 22 weeks, not 21...fried brain from work lol
DS2 due 12/12/18
Happy Tuesday!

How old is/are your other LOs? 4 & 6 yr old boys
Nails and fails from this week: Nails - son moved up two levels in swim my younger one. One less person to worry about with swimming safety.
Fails - Husband left today to travel for work and he has family friends coming all weekend with plans every day including hosting here. Haven't had time to clean or grocery shop. Friday is going to suck!
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Nada just dying to feel her kick but another anterior placenta
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children?
Well this time my husband shouldn't be traveling the week after birth every other week for months with two kids and a c-section and no family help. So being that my kids will be older should be a heck of a lot easier this time. Shitty part is my parents are retiring week after I am due and decided to head to Florida for 4 months which hurts my feelings since they help my brother and his wife all the time but is what it is. When you have zero help when you do get any you appreciate it more.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 22 weeks, a pack of 6 bagels
How old is/are your other LOs? 19 months tomorrow!
Nails and fails from this week: A nail is that I finally got the Bub in for a Tricare-covered speech evaluation! It actually went better than the one I paid out of pocket for. The therapist had him strapped into a chair, so instead of wandering off and ignoring us he actually interacted a bit as he was supposed to. That said, she told me he still definitely needs services because of the fact that he really only has 8 or 9 words. Which is fine. I like this lady a bit better than the first one we were going to -- she seems a bit more confident and experienced.
The fail is a good one. I'll spare you guys the long story, but essentially I forgot to re-pack diapers in my diaper bag for the trip home from DC on Sunday...which I only realized when we were in the air and my son was sitting on a large, stinky poop. I did the best I could: cleaned him up, scraped the poop into the toilet, lined the diaper with wipes and a layer of toilet paper, and put the diaper back on him. His poops are usually ploppable, but I'd given him a cup of cow's milk on Friday out of desperation and to see if he would tolerate it...he definitely does not. So it was still messed up from that adventure.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Rave -- anatomy scan today! Yaaaay! Finally! Rave #2 -- baby has reached like, minimum viability! Double-yaaay!
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth) Hoping for zero meconium, an easy (easier) birth with no getting stuck, and no NICU stay!!!! Please, that's all I'm asking for!!!!!

@PensiveCrayon that is one hell of a fail, I can't imagine how stressful that would have been!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 22+2, baby is almost a foot long and weighs about a pound.
How old is/are your other LOs? DD is 6yo, and DS is 4yo
Nails and fails from this week:
Nail: On Sunday, I put DS down for a nap after church because LORD did he need it. And then I laid down on the couch and took a nap while DD watched PBS Kids and put a puzzle together. When I woke up, she made me lunch and brought it to me on the couch - PB&J, cheez its, and two oreos.
Fail: The PB&J was all PB on one side and all J on the other, LOL.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: I've been super stressed and when I'm stressed I grind my teeth. I have two crowns on the top right side, and I don't know if they don't fit well or if they weren't designed for me to grind my teeth (I mean come on) or what, but this past week has been truly awful. I got a mouthguard to wear at night, which has helped, but the pain is intense. First available appointment with the dentist isn't until the 16
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
This is always hard for me, as I don't really have regrets. We did everything we did for a reason, and when it didn't turn out the way we expected, we adjusted. Honestly things that I hope go the same - healthy, term deliveries, ability to do so with minimal interventions, baby that eats well and gains weight, and hopefully a fairly painless transition back to work.
I suppose what will be different is how much older DD and DS are now than DD was when DS was born. Hopefully they're still as excited about baby Will when he's here as they are now.
How far along are you? How big is baby?
19w4d, size of a mango
How old is/are your other LOs?
He is two.
Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: DS has been so good at telling us when he has to poop (except for Monday afternoon and yesterday morning, apparently..)
Fails: I got annoyed on Friday when I was asked to pick up DS before I had a chance to go to the gym.. she didn't bother to tell me why. When I got there he was sick and throwing up. I felt terrible. It only lasted like four hours though, it was so weird. His fever went away and after throwing up couple times he was done. It was bizarre!
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Dear Diary: We are going on vacation to Florida for a week on the 18 and I am so excited!
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
I'm not really sure. Everything went pretty smoothly. Maybe a shorter labor? And no tearing.. I needed a stitch. I'd like to do without that this time.

@mcgeeva That's kinda crappy of your parents. I feel like they could have waited a little bit before leaving.

@runrinserepeat your teeth situation sounds so painful! I hope the mouthguard helps in the meantime
@AdorkablePixie I'm glad DS's illness was short lived!
How far along are you? How big is baby?
23w6d almost a cantaloupe!
How old is/are your other LOs?
DS is 19 months
Nails and fails from this week:
Fails: DS has learned how to get on our bar stools and onto our countertops. This is not good at all. They are very high and he's a daredevil.
Nails: DS is talking like crazy, his speech has skyrocketed in the last month. We taught him to say "Go Huskers!" for the upcoming football season. Also, I keep asking him to say "Love you, mama" and he looks at me with a sly grin and says "Wube you, daddy". Little turd does it on purpose to tease me it's the cutest thing in the world. Also, I'll ask him to give me a hug and he will act like he's going to and then detour to grandma or daddy right at the end.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Dear Diary: My nephew is coming on Friday and I'm so excited to go snuggle a newborn!
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
Very similar to @runrinserepeat I don't have any regrets as far as how we handled anything. We adjusted to each step of the entire process. As far as what is out of my control - I would LOVE to have a shorter labor and delivery this time. I was induced on a Sunday night and didn't have him until Tuesday night at 11:45pm after pushing for three hours. Otherwise, I imagine myself to be way more chill about breastfeeding since I've been through it and have an idea of what to expect.
DS: 12/20/16
EDD: 11/29/18
How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 + 3
How old is/are your other LOs? 14 months
Nails and fails from this week: Fail: She keeps swiping food off of her high chair which is SO very annoying. I had to give her like six different things for dinner last night because she'd throw it all on the ground and the dog would eat it.
Nail: She is at such a cute age and learning so much. She started waving her finger and saying "no no no" when I tell her no. And she said "buh" yesterday when I said by to her in the morning. She also shakes herself around when I tell her to dance.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: It feels like there is so much to do before this baby is born and there is time but there also isn't. I wish I could take some days off of work to organize the house and figure out where I'm going to put everything, but I don't have that much time left.
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)? The birth itself was relatively easy. But our breastfeeding journey was hard initially, which I assume will be easier since I know what I'm doing. She was a terrible sleeper, and we had to do sleep training early (12 weeks) because she screamed and screamed and screamed no matter what I did, and I was losing my mind. I really hope this baby is easier in regards to sleeping. And I'd like to not have PPA.
oh @PensiveCrayon that fail terrible and hysterical all at once. I applaud you.
@runrinserepeat aren't all pb&j's like that? I'm confused what you mean by one side, like the whole one slice was pb and the other slice was j? Am I making mine wrong
CecilB93 Yesterday I bonked DD in the face with the remote while I was trying to get it away from her. Mother of the year over here!
@pensivecrayon That sounds awful, but also isn’t it crazy how resourceful we get when faced with a mom crisis? There are things I’ve done that I never thought I’d do.
adorkablepixie Have fun on vacay!
How far along are you? How big is baby?

How old is/are your other LOs?
DD is 18 months
Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: DD continues with a learning explosion and it’s very cool to watch. Newest word is “shoes” and it’s a cute one because she has a little lisp at the end.
Fails: She’s kinda sick and last night was a rough one. She was very restless and woke up a few times just whining and then would go back to sleep. I feel bad.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Dear diary: I am so close to having this house up for sale I can taste it!
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
I generally am just hoping for a better sleeper. Hoping she will sleep in a bassinet and then eventually learn how to sleep through the night without sleep training.
@runrinserepeat I use to clench my teeth when I was sad or stressed in my sleep. I'd wake up and my mouth would be SO SORE! Thankfully that hasn't happened in a while. That PB&J thing is funny and adorable!

How far along are you? How big is baby? 23+2! A grapefruit, allegedly.
How old is/are your other LOs? This is getting hard to track in months, lol... 20 months!
Nails and fails from this week: The week is still young! I don't think I participated last week—I had my official parental leave meeting last Wednesday and it went well, if a little wishy-washy still on the owners' part. I'm getting 16 weeks of paid leave (nail!). Totally off the grid for December, then checking in on email & Discord (it's like Slack) a couple of times a week starting in January and progressing from there. February, calling into our weekly leadership meeting. In March, going in for the leadership meeting + full team lunch. Re-engaged full time on 3/25. I knew they wanted more participation leading up to 3/25 but they wouldn't say it. So, I told them that if they had specific expectations they needed to be explicitly stated, otherwise, that's ^^ essentially what I'm going to do.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Dear Diary, how is this pregnancy flying by so quickly? There's so much I want/need to do - at work, socially, professionally, and of course at home but I am kind of overwhelmed by it all which leaves me making little progress with anything. D'oh!
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth) Hmmm, well, I have to say my previous pregnancy, L&D and leave were pretty damn awesome. I can only pray that everything goes the same way this time, but with the added logistics of a toddler, I know it won't be the case. I am honestly a bit nervous about it all, but am trying not to dwell. Struggles of an overthinker.
They also go to FL after Christmas, so they were only here with DD for a month after she was born. It'll be the same this time around. Solidarity!
@PensiveCrayon Good vibes for your AS!
@temmetime EEK! Countertops are scary! You reminded me that as of... Monday? DD can now reach, grip and turn doorknobs.
Overthinker over here too! I'm trying to ignore my brain about how hard life will be with a newborn and a toddler. Like, shhhhh it'll be blissful and pinterest worthy.

@PensiveCrayon what a fail, and probably funny to look back on now! Not completely similar, but we were in line to get on a Disney bus back to the resort when both of my 1 year olds pooped. We had JUST changed them and I had to use my nieces pull up for that change because apparently we were going through the diapers quickly that day. So, I decided the bus was there, we were just getting on and changing when we got back. It smelled horrible and DS1 (who was 4 at the time) would not let it go. He was flipping out because of the smell. Meanwhile we had a couple with "Just Married" buttons standing in front of us. I could not stop laughing at DS1 and thought these poor newly weds are never having babies after this!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 21 weeks - baby is the size of a large fry.
How old is/are your other LOs? All boys - 9, 6, 6
Nails and fails from this week: Nails - I was able to clean the kids toy room up, which was the first step in turning it into baby's room. We took probably 6 bags of stuff out of there to donate, now it's just a matter of figuring out where the stuff we decided to keep is going. Fails: It is SO hard to sit on the floor and clean a toy room with my belly in the way.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Last Friday I went shopping for maternity clothes and got quite a bit (rave!). Rant: I was at Target and saw a Lillebaby complete on clearance for $72 - I was so excited to get such a great deal. I get home, get it out of the box just to check it out - wrapped in the Lillebaby plastic wrap was an infantino carrier! Luckily Target returned it, I was scared they were going to think I put the wrong carrier in there, but I was so sad my great deal was actually someone who had scammed Target.
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth) I hope breastfeeding in the first couple of weeks is not as hard as it was before. Both times my milk didn't come in until about day 5 and it was so stressful. With DS1 I was a new mom, so it was super stressful, then I had twins, so that did not make feeding easier. I'd love to not supplement in the first few days out of fear of baby not eating enough.
@hoosiermama-2 That is great news about the 16 weeks of leave!!
@snugglyducking25 That is terrible!! I am so sorry you didn't get your lillebaby for $72. Also, what a shame Target got ripped off like that. People willing to do stuff like that shouldn't even be raising kids, they're what's wrong with this world!

Nails and fails from this week:
DD will be a flower girl for the first time this weekend! I will report back on whether that will be a nail or fail.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
We fly out to MN tomorrow for the weekend and I CAN'T WAIT! We're staying at a cabin on the lake near Nisswa and Brainerd. Looking forward to getting DD back in the water...because we haven't been "swimming" since FL in late May. #badmom
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
I'd mostly like to change things labor/delivery related...which I can't control anyways, so, fingers crossed. Hopefully no back labor, shorter labor, no infection during labor and no NICU stay. I just want baby to chill in my room with me so that I can skin to skin and BF when I want with no cords or machines in the way.
@mcgeeva Heck yes on the good swimmer! Solidarity on the anterior placenta...I'm ready to feel those kicks too. Hopefully you do soon!
@PensiveCrayon Way to crush that poopy situation like a pro! Good luck at your AS (now that it's finally here)!
@runrinserepeat Sorry it's been stressy for you lately...I hope it eases up on you soon! Also, how sweet of her to make you a PB&J, but the execution made me giggle. Andplusalso, I PBS Kids.
@AdorkablePixie Yay for vacation...hope you guys have fun! Sorry little man was yucky Friday, but glad it didn't last.
@temmetime OMG, the climbing makes me cringe! Luckily, DD hasn't been much of a climber yet (knocks on wood). D'awwww to the "Go Huskers"...so cute!
@Jens_Hoes Nothing cuter than a dancing baby!
@rosebud332 I hope your DD is feeling better today and tonight is a much better night of sleep!
@hoosiermama-2 That's a heck of a score on the mat leave...congrats!
@snugglyduckling25 Hilarious story about the bus ride from Disney! Sorry about the carrier...that just sucks. People just suck sometimes.
@snugglyduckling25 I must ask...being a boy mom myself. Is this a 4th boy or still a surprise?
hoosiermama-2 it's so hard not to compare. My brother had their 3rd this year and my brother is about to have surgery and they help them weekly. I had inlaws that moved here last year bc they needed to be near my husband their only child to help the. They are physically in bad shape bc of how they live their lives so babies are something they can not do at all. Never changed a diaper etc. So we are truly on our own. I'm freaking out now bc my middle of the night babysitter who lives across the street from me is moving No clue what the heck I will do if this baby comes early. And kudos to your company for giving 16 weeks that's amazing!
temmetime just wait soon he will be on top of the fridge! Mine somehow figured out how to climb everything so hiding snacks goes over the washer now
AdorkablePixie yeah my parents pretty much suck.
runrinserepeat yes big plus on the swimming. Free entertainment and no longer have to worry or get in myself. Your daughter sounds super sweet! Love how carrying the older ones can be, melts your heart.

@CecilB93 I also hope this kiddo is calmer than my oldest, haha. DD is a tornado. I love her to death, I love her energy, but both my husband and I are crossing our fingers this babe is more chill.

How old is/are your other LOs?
DD is 2.5
Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: After kind of a rough day on Friday where DD was feeling overwhelmed by the noise and size of the crazy preschool lunchtime (it's double her toddler class) she has done SO well this week! No tears, no sadness, and she is excited that her preschool class has her best friend in it, and a brand new fish they all get to take care of. I am so happy she's happy. And my husband and I have given her tons of pep talks about not having any accidents all day (she gets a sticker or two if she goes all day without an accident) and she has only been having one during naptime (like when she's asleep) and they are fine with that (and so are we.)
Fails: My husband has been getting frustrated with DD because the second I'm home she only wants me to do everything, and I mean *everything* for her. Like, only mama read book, only mama put on jammies, only mama make dinner, etc. It is exhausting for me too, but he just doesn't understand that he spends more time with her since he does all the day care pickups and drop offs, plus they hang out for an hour or so until I get home, so she just wants to maximize her time with me. I think it just hurts his feelings because he puts in so much effort wrangling her all day only for her to want me over him all of the evening once I'm home. And my fail is, I get frustrated with him for getting frustrated with her, instead of really understanding his hurt and frustration. Need to work on that.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Rant at myself: I feel guilty because at a drive through this morning the girl at the window gave me my ice water without the lid on all the way and it spilled all over me, and I was kinda rude about it. Like, she said sorry and I said "alrighty" but it was kind of a bitchy tone of voice and I just drove off. I wasn't exactly mean, but I wasn't nice either, and I have worked so many crappy jobs like that (waitress, pizza delivery driver, etc) that I know better than to be rude when mistakes happen, but my hormones (and the ice cold water all over my lap) made me not act like my best self in the moment and I feel bad.
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
Oh jeez, lots of things. The most important thing that I DO want to repeat is that I had a safe birth and my DD was fine and I was fine. I would love to avoid though, sciatic nerve pain so bad I had to walk with a cane for a couple months prior to delivery, I would love to avoid an induction if possible, I would love to avoid having a bad reaction to the epidural, choking on my puke while alone in the room and the other assorted scary issues with that. I would definitely love to avoid PPA/PPD caused by postpartum thyroiditis and my breastfeeding issues (caused by the same thing) but I am certain that I will be way more chill about the breastfeeding part this time, even if it's a total failure, and my endocrinologist and I are on watch for any postpartum thyroiditis symptoms (and I'll be tested much sooner) so at least I have a good game plan for all of that.

Nails and fails from this week:
Nail: we took a four-day trip to the beach and had a great time! My mom and a couple of my younger siblings came and it went smoothly. If I didn’t know any better, I would assume my mom was medicated!
Fail: Inspired by @PensiveCrayon yesterday, we flew from Wilmington, North Carolina to LaGuardia airport, with no problems. However, once we boarded our flight from LaGuardia to Dayton, we sat on the runway for over an hour. They told us after about 45 minutes that we would need to deplane because the door was malfunctioning, but it took another 30-40 minutes for them to bring steps for us to get off. My son, who never sleeps anywhere other than his own bed or occasionally his car seat, was thisclose to falling asleep in his car seat when they finally got us off. Unfortunately, We ended up at LaGuardia, which was packed for over two hours and our stroller, which had been gate checked, was still on the plane. It was miserable! DS did not nap at all on vacation and slept with DH and I and woke up several times each night, so he was over tired and just kept running around. He has never pooped on an adult toilet without a potty seat before, and we had to overcome that in the nasty airport bathroom. After all of that, we finally were able to board the plane and as soon as we pulled out of the gate, DS announces that he has to go potty. He was so upset and insisting that we take him because he can’t pee in his pull up even though we kept telling him it would be ok if he did. We ended up on the runway for 45 minutes before finally taking off and so we weren’t able to get him to the bathroom. Once we landed, we realized that he had Peed through his pull-up, clothing, and all over his car seat. I felt so bad for him. Then, when I was stripping him to change his clothes, he escaped and was running through the airport butt naked. Thankfully, no one saw and DH caught him quickly. It was quite an adventure!
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
We found a couple of cockroaches in the Airbnb we stayed in, so now I am washing and Clorox wiping everything we own!
GTKY: What do you hope goes differently this time compared to your previous pregnancy/children? (Either before, during, or after birth)
This time, I hope to go into labor on my own and not be in active labor for 40 hours. I hope to not need a c-section. I hope the baby is not stuck on my pelvic bone and does not have skull issues. I hope bfing goes more smoothly and that I don’t have to pump after each feeding and meet with LC’s biweekly for months. Overall, I just hope baby is healthy, just like DS.
