  • That cat is so freaking accurate!

I've been up since 3 am because of a vicious cycle of urgently needing to pee and being super thirsty.
  • @klj0228 I have friends who swear by Depends for PP! I haven't gotten to try it personally but they say they are great for especially those first few days.
  • @klj0228 I have friends who used them PP and thought they were great. I stuck with using the big pads, but am willing to try using them PP this go around.

  • Depends for PP bleeding were awesome! So much better than trying to shove enough pads in your panties that you're not leaking every direction every 20min.

  • @fftm9318 I've been having some really strange dreams recently too. Last night it was that I was searching for a certain size of socks that apparently didn't exist and I was really upset about it.
  • Sorry I haven't kept up with randoms lately and am just stopping in with a question, but I have (another) insurance related vent/question.

My daughter's pediatrician called this morning to tell me they want to cancel her appointment next month because it's 3 days before her birthday, and they don't want to see her until she's already turned 4. Which, first of all, is ridiculously bureaucratic and stupid. She isn't going to physically change so much in 3 days that she'll need to be seen or treated any differently. But the bigger issue is that this is so close to the beginning of the school year so they have super limited appointment availability. She goes back to preschool, and I need her immunization records, the week after her birthday so I have a 2-day window to get her in if the make us wait. And our schedule when she's back in school, plus their appointment availability, plus the fact that I'll be 38 weeks pregnant and would like to get her in before I go into labor makes it tough. I guess I can get the records without taking her in, just like I'd have to if her birthday was in November or something. But I don't want to push her appointment way back - and then have them tell me next year that it has to be 365 days after the previous appointment or something - and just be done with it before the baby arrives.

The pregnancy hormones are not being friendly to me right now and everything makes me teary. I held it together for a while on the phone but I was losing it towards the end. The woman who called is going to double-check with someone else in the office and call me back later. She was very polite about everything, but it's just such a stupid situation to deal with.

Is this typical (the after-birthday requirement, not the hormones!)? We've never had any issues or questions about when we scheduled her yearly well-child visit before, and I was under the assumption that it was just once a year but the exact timing wasn't a big deal. We haven't been on this particular insurance plan before, though. I actually had a different appointment scheduled for her the day before this one, but that got canceled a couple weeks ago because the doctor wasn't actually going to be in the office - with absolutely no mention of the timing being before her birthday.

  • @treeofcheem That seems silly to me. Hopefully, they will let you keep the appointment you already have! If not, they may be able to fax you her immunization record - I had my DD's ped do this as we needed it for Kindergarten enrollment and didn't have any upcoming appointments scheduled. At least that would save you one trip!

  • @treeofcheem We had that with DD's 12 month shots. We tried to go in 2 days before her birthday and we had to come back to get shots after she was 1 since it would be forever messed up in their system and not show right if we administered them that day. It's super frustrating, but I'd rather deal with the frustration now than foooorever.
  • @treeofcheem
This won't answer your question perfectly, but is it your insurance requiring 365 days plus 1 day?  I think it might be an insurance requirement unfortunately.  When I schedule a physical for myself, they always comment, it has to be 365 days plus 1 day for us to schedule you one.
  • @treeofcheem it is possible that insurance does not cover it until her exact birthday or after based on age recommended vaccines. It is definitely a little frustrating, and even more so since you are pregnant and have those extra hormones.
  • @lisac113 I couldn’t get a straight answer about why and if it was an insurance rule or not. We were on a different plan with a different insurance company last year, though, so this is our first appointment on record with them.

  • @treeofcheem I used to work at a peds office before becoming a SAHM. It's an insurance thing, all if them as far as I know. They won't pay for the well child checks if the child isn't technically the specific age. Whoever scheduled your appointment should have caught that.
You should be able to get the immunization record without an appointment though.

I had a dream that I was in school to be an FBI agent but then after graduation I walked on a school bus & started to drive away from a giant dinosaur that was chasing me!
  • @treeofcheem They were always super strict about scheduling appts to where she would be the age and not before, especially for immunizations.
  • ^ I've been doing a lot of research and based on camel camel camel, it seems like the price will drop again closer to October. Fingers crossed! ha

Agreed about the mesh undies. I wear them in the hospital. After those two days, my belly starts to get itchy from them.

No judgment here. I looked at all the "cheaper" double strollers and I just wanted a better one. I went with the City Select and I love it. I found it used, but it was still $500.
  • @crispy11 I got my double BOB last year for black friday for around $400 on Zulily. If you can wait for the fall when they’re transitioning to next year’s inventory you should be able to find a deals Also, Amazon likes to put one color on sale at a time, so if you’re not picky, you can score one for cheaper if you keep an eye on it (how I got my single BOB for $100/off).
