Nails: okay admittedly I did nothing...but DH got most of our downstairs bathroom torn out so we can paint and put in tile this weekend!

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Totally going to Build A Bear tomorrow for the Pay Your Age day, $2 stuffed animal? Uh yes please!
And minor rant, I'm so freaking tired today. Part of it is my fault because I stayed up later than I should have, but I can definitely tell part of it is pregnancy related.
And Rave, next appointment is Friday!! Can't wait to hear baby's heart beat again. Ive been so nervous for no reason that something is wrong, so it'll be nice to hear baby again.

GTKY: If you could instantly become an expert at one thing, what would it be?
Probably cooking/baking. I love to be in the kitchen, I just hate our kitchen so I don't do it as much as I'd like. And I really like baking cupcakes and cakes, I'm interested in learning to decorate with icing, so that has been put on hold due to the gestational Diabetes. I may do cupcakes for my next work food day though just for the hell of it lol.

Nails: We got our shed delivered, base built and shed built this weekend! and while my fail involved making DS skip soccer I also managed to get to a bridal shower AND birthday party for a 2 year old no more then 15 mins late. Super win.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Rant: my feet are about 4 times the size they should be and my shoes hurt. Rave: feeling lots of movement in the mornings these days and were only 5 days away from the anatomy scan (/first and only ultrasound)!!

Something educational so I could get a decent job..

@CecilB93 I really want to bring my son to the pay your age thing, but I am so worried it's going to be packed busy!! The accessories are separate of course, but I doubt my DS would care that we didn't buy anything else. lol

Nails and fails from this week: Nothing I can think of

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Rant: My dog has been dry heaving all night, and didn't want to eat breakfast. Which means vet visit, and I am going to be really upset if he ate something and needs surgery. A few months ago, he ate a squeaker that got lodged in his intestines, and $1300 later, he was fine. But he seems to have possibly eaten something again. We cannot afford another $1300 right now. Really freaking out. I hope he decides to eat and that he is fine. But he is going to the vet at 2pm today. I don't know what he would have eaten, we have had to take away all his toys and dog proof the backyard. (He ate my sons wooden sand box a few weeks ago...UGH). But our neighbor has 4 kids and like to throw their toys over our fence, so I really hope they didn't throw a toy over and he ate it. <cries> SO STRESSED!

GTKY: If you could instantly become an expert at one thing, what would it be? Expert at photography. I love photography and learned manual after months and months of learning material and youtube videos, but I still have a lot to learn and it would be nice to just instantly know all the things so I can get my business up and running.

Nail: All of the boxes are out of my house! This is wonderful news. I’m starting to try to clean in those weird little crevices you never think about.
Fail: We have done a ton of work trying to get this house ready and the other day part of our wrought iron staircase broke. It’s probably to 3 minute fix, but trying to get anyone with welding equipment to come out here to do it is proving impossible.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Dear diary: After discovering my child is carsick in the worst way possible yesterday, I may never go anywhere ever again. The end.

Probably learning another language or two so I wouldn’t be so afraid to go to another country.

DD is 6yo. I'm conflicted with her this week - she wants to sign up for ballet, jazz, gymnastics, and soccer this fall. Besides the fact that this would cost us a small fortune, she barely handled ballet and jazz last year. It's just a lot for such a small person, and doubling the number of practices she has just won't work. But IDK what to switch her to. Thinking of dropping jazz and letting her pick up the other two to see how it goes, but that still seems like a lot...

DS is 4yo. And apparently doesn't require sleep any more. In addition to my own insomnia, this has been really hard on me.

Nails and fails from this week:
Finished a cute little hat for my friend's baby - Nailed it.
Started a cute little hate for my own baby and an hour in, somehow wound up with a giant hole in it. I'm going to have to start over, because I can't figure out what I did and I won't be able to recover with all the short rows in it - Failed it.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
I'm on day 2 of a headache, and I think I got 3 hours of sleep last night. If I didn't have to save my sick days for maternity leave, I wouldn't be here. I can't believe this is how my work wants this to go - I'm not useful to anyone right now. I'm a warm body in a chair.

GTKY: If you could instantly become an expert at one thing, what would it be?
If I could become an expert in computer programming, that would certainly help my career.
If I could become an expert at knitting or quilting, that would save me so much personal time. I think I choose personal time. I wish I could make socks and sweaters like my mom does.

@CecilB93 my mom is gonna attempt to go tomorrow but has no problem walking out if it's crazy since DD is only 13 months and wouldn't know the difference
@Whitmore1027 my dog eats everything too. We've been lucky in that he usually throws it up. He ate a plastic bag the other week. Fx he passes is. Have you thought about getting catastrophic insurance for him? We pay I think $250 a year for a lot of coverage if he did something crazy and needed lots of help lol
@runrinserepeat could you ask her which 2 she'd like to do? Or maybe stick with one dance since she did them before and one new sport? I feel you on feeling crappy. Luckily I will have zero time saved for maternity so I don't have to worry about taking a sick day here or there lol

Fails: I left MILs the other day without taking DS to the potty first. He had an accident RIGHT before we got to my house. I was so mad at myself. He gets so upset when he has accidents.

Nails: I kept him alive, so that's good. lol
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Dear Diary: DH both decided we are too impatient to wait until August 2 so I scheduled an elective ultrasound for today to find out the sex. They are putting it in an envelope and sometime next week (probably Thursday) we are going to have a reveal and find our with out family what we are having. I am going to order silly string and give the envelope to our cousin, she is going to e-mail the vendor and tell them the sex so they can get it prepared and ship it out. I am so excited. I am really looking forward to seeing baby tonight on the ultrasound!!

Hmmm.. Maybe baking because I love to bake. I'm good, but not an expert. Or maybe an expert on running a business, because I'd love to start my own accounting business (I'm a CPA). Or an expert ice skater. I'd also love to be fluent in Italian. Okay, I'll stop here. lol

@Whitmore1027 yea at that age he wouldn't know if he didn't get a toy. I haven't said anything to my son just in case we decide it's too crazy.

@rosebud332 oh I forgot about language! Ive always wanted to be fluent in French!!

@CecilB93 I said baking too! I told DH he could take DS to the Build-A-Bear thing tomorrow. Who knows if he will or not, but I think DS would enjoy it!

@Whitmore1027 Ohhh photography, that's a good one!! I'm sorry about your dog! I hope it's nothing major and not a super expensive vet visit.

@rosebud332 Oh no to car sickness! Are you sure it wasn't something they ate? DS got sick on the way to my mom's a couple weeks ago and it was so weird, then he was fine after. I think the yogurt he had for breakfast upset his stomach.

@runrinserepeat I am so sorry about the headache. I've been having more of them than I'd like to lately too. I hope they let up soon!

@Jens_Hoes Yeah, we are just NOW thinking about pet insurance. $250 a year isn't bad at all! I wish we had done it right away. He is about 9 months now, and we have had him since December. I have just never gotten pet insurance with any of my pets so we didn't really think about it. But now I regret it! Your dog ate a plastic bag?! That's nuts! It's weird because he doesn't touch any of my sons toys in the house. It's just anything outside. Since the squeaker incident, I don't give him any toys with squeakers.
@AdorkablePixie Thanks! And that's so exciting that you are doing your ultrasound today! I can't wait for ours either. We may do the envelope thing too, and we were thinking of doing a reveal during my son's 2 year birthday party. (I don't think he will care, and I really don't want to plan two separate parties. haha!)

@Jens_Hoes my biggest issue asking her to pick two is which two she'll pick

I know I'm pushing my own biases on her, but she would probably pick ballet and gymnastics. I'm pretty okay with the dance (and I'd prefer she stick with ballet if she's going to do anything, because it's more foundational for all the other types of dance), but I would just imagine her sticking with soccer longer than gymnastics. IDK. I suppose my sister did gymnastics in high school and it's a good foundation if she wants to do something like pole vaulting or diving, but... DH is a soccer ref, former soccer coach, and former college soccer player.

I suppose really, she should just pick up golf, because if she can hit the ball she could probably just walk onto her high school team and be the best one there.

I overthink these things. She's six.

@runrinserepeat lol I love gymnastics! I did it competitively from the age of 6-18. I think it teaches you a lot, but I am biased lol

@Whitmore1027 I hemmed and hawed about it, and them Christmas Day after we had him a month he fell into a table and was limping around and I panicked and took that as a reason to get it lol. I have it through Petfirst Pet Insurance, and we did it all online. I think we have a deductible of $500 with catastrophic insurance up to $20,000? I honestly would rather have it then not know he roams around and gets into everything.

@AdorkablePixie I think it was a combination of food and getting in the car too quickly. We were going out in the morning so I fed her her usual breakfast but earlier than normal and then about 30-45 minutes later we were in the car. I guess I have to be more careful about that now.

Fails - DS keeps biting, pinching and hitting it's driving me nuts that no matter what we do to discipline he keeps doing it.
Nails - I got my DH on board with eliminating the binky at the beginning of August. Fingers crossed for success!

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Question: We are going to move DS to his big bed in October & I'm torn on whether to use a bed rail or a semicircle bumper pad to help keep him in the bed. It's a full size, so he will be gaining tons of room. Does anyone have experience with either/both?

My first thought is photography, but I don't want to work to take pictures for other people, it'd just be for my own family. So, I'm going to go with cooking! I always follow recipes/tweak as I like I don't just make my own from scratch because I'm not confident or familiar enough with ingredients.

runrinserepeat I would stick to no more than two sports especially with school starting up in another month or so. I can barley juggle one sport per child during the school year with homework.

Whitmore1027 nothing worse then a sick pup. Always an arm and a leg for all issues. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

@temmetime Ugh! The hitting! DS I usually pretty good at not hitting but if he's a little tired and you try to take him away from something he wants to do and shouldn't or something he wants to keep doing but it's time to go inside or something, he hits. I am so over it. I'm not sure how to stop it.

@temmetime I'd personally not use anything, but I'm harsh like that. When DD transitioned, she went to a toddler bed that was closer to the floor, but she did fall out a time or two (onto hardwood). She learned quickly. DS transitioned almost immediately to a bunk bed, and the bottom bunk was essentially a twin bed. He fell out a couple of times, too, but again, he learned quickly. I did try to put down his sheepskin or blankets to cushion the blow. Honestly, I'm mostly just glad they don't have a crutch and we could easily put them to sleep at my parents' house or anywhere else without worrying about it.

@mcgeeva - our kiddos are the same age! Does your 6yo do any extra-curriculars? I'm thinking of letting her do ballet, gymnastics, and soccer. I feel like soccer will be much less of a time commitment since it won't be happening over the winter (and it's a lot cheaper than the others), and she's got her heart set on continuing dance and gymnastics. It's just going to be a lot.

runrinserepeat awesome! Your right where I am then with these crazy beasts! MY 4 yr old now craws in to my bed nightly at 4-5 am. WTF never happened before. So this is the first spring we put both kids in sports. We did Tball and baseball. It started in april and ended mid june and let me tell you, it was so much damn work. One practice a week and games on the weekends. And at some point it went to games during the week and weekends. I was running around like a crazy person and my husband is about to sign the kids up for fall. Shoot me! I think the older will try soccer - hoping not at many games, and do tball again for the 4 yr old which is boring as all get out. Dance and Gymnastics I would enjoy watching unlike tball I had a kid glued to my leg I would have to stand in the field with. Have your kids asked if they are going to miss Christmas this year since they are older?

@mcgeeva the kids have asked whether the baby might be born on Christmas (answer: absolutely not, I'm due 12/10, and I refuse to go that past overdue, lol), and how long I'll have to be at the hospital. But I asked DS (4) last night "won't it be fun to have a new baby at Christmas this year?" and his face just lit up. They're seriously so adorable when it comes to the idea of a new baby. Now to see how they like it in practice...

Our kids are doing t-ball this summer. It's just 6 weeks longs, once a week, so no huge commitment. What a mess, though. It's ridiculous trying to explain to a 4 yo, "okay, so when he hits the ball, where are you going to throw it?". Never mind the fact that my 6 yo was so focused on fielding the ball last game that she tackled a runner in the baseline. Two more weeks left of that fun.

Started drafting my parental leave ask/plan. I'm asking for 16 weeks paid. My company is owned by three men, two are childless by choice. All are nice, but definitely business conservative. And I'm pretty sure one is a robot almost incapable of feeling empathy. So. Can't wait to get this convo started.

The dreamy part of me says soccer. The practical adult part of me says development - backend or frontend. Or both.

@hoosiermama-2 Yes, you are correct. My due date is Jan. 7 2019. However, I am having a scheduled repeat c-section on December 31 2018. And I decided to make this my BMB. I understand it's hard to keep up with everyone. There are a lot of people. I stopped mentioning my circumstances after a few times I have posted. I figured people would get tired of me explaining it so I stopped, but now I guess some people who missed it is confused. haha. It's all good though!

Omg @mcgeeva my kids were such assholes last night. I watched my 4yo repeatedly throw sand in his coaches face, while the coach just stood there and took it. I’ve never been more embarrassed. I’m sure some of it is being 4 and not feeling great (he had shots on Monday), but still. If next week is like yesterday, we’re skipping the final week because ftn.

@AdorkablePixie Thank you, I hope so too. I'm trying to remain open-minded. I think the guys even moderately altering my plan goes against our values and the message that the robot owner is constantly touting. And the fact that I (we) should be "grateful for anything" pisses me off. Though I am, of course, it's ridiculous that... well, I won't get into it but just say that lack of parental rights and paid time off in our country is something that takes me from 0 to 100 in a split-second.

@Whitmore1027 Cool! I would've settled for "you guys are just much cooler than January"

My EDD is 12/3 but DD came a few days early and was ready to come out, haha. I think this one will come early too and I've been meaning to look around N18 but let's be honest - I struggle enough keeping up here.

runrinserepeat lol been there! Where I wanted to drag his butt home and be done with tball but totally all with the age. Do you know what your doing with your third for daycare? I feel at some point I can't handle a million drop offs. But I don't like the idea of someone living in my home so what other options are there besides breaking the bank? I have to figure out before and after care this month for my older son.

My son is actually a January ‘17 babe but was due December 29. I knew he would most likely come late because of my mom’s birthing history but I liked the D16 peeps. That said, I hated being SO FAR behind.

Whitmore1027 I agree. I haven't even checked January even though I was technically due the 2nd my doctor scheduled c-section for the 27th but with my history of complications told me we will have the baby before christmas most likely. I live the peeps over here. Jan is probably people just starting to confirm pregnancy, tell others etc. I want to move this show along.

@temmetime - good luck with taking away the binky! As far as the bed transitions go, for me, it depended on the kid. With all of my kids I never put anything on the toddler bed because it was so low to the floor. For big boy beds I didn't give DS1 anything and he fell out of his bed, which was kind of high up, and I said he needs something. He is a crazy sleeper. For DS2 & 3 I didn't put anything on their beds and they have fallen out, but they are not all over the place while sleeping, so I wasn't worried about them doing it often.

@mcgeeva and @runrinserepeat I've decided that having older kids is harder as far as time than younger kids. Between school, sports, other activities we are always on the go and it's exhausting. Luckily DS2&3 are always on the same team for sports which at least makes it more like having two kids in sports vs 3 for me. When they were babies we went home each night and had nothing on the agenda.

Nails and fails from this week: I cannot seem to get myself and the kids out the door on time. I know I need to get stuff ready the night before, but I'm tired then and don't want to.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Vacation starts in 5 hours! I'm not actually going anywhere, just volunteering a few hours each day at my church's VBS like program, but I'm excited to not have to go to work each day. Even though VBS plus having my kids with me all week is probably more work.

GTKY: If you could instantly become an expert at one thing, what would it be? Photography for sure. I have a DSLR camera that I bought when DS1 was born (so in the world of technology it's probably ancient). I was trying so hard to learn to use it, but I was just not picking it up that well. Maybe after this baby I'll try again.

@snugglyduckling25 I can relate so much to your post. I can't get anywhere on time anymore. I had a friend tell me years ago that each year gets harder and the baby age was easy. I 100% agree with all of it. With older kids you don't just run for sports, now have to help with homework, worry about social well being. Lord the list is ending. I found out my older son got chocked and pushed down multiple times in SACC and I had zero clue what to do. Parents say..boys will be boys. But I am a mom of boys and mine do not hurt one another in that manner especially if you already push someone down and they cry. Any who I am still mind boggled how I am going to juggle three now. I clearly won't be able to work the night hours I work now after a full day of work so something will have to give and my younger also starts kindergarten this year. Enjoy vacation!

Nail: I resigned from my job and am officially taking the year off. I am still going to sub a few times each month in our home district, though.
Fail: We were going to go to Build-A-Bear today, but that line is way too long. I just wish I ahd not gotten DS all excited to make one for Baby Jellybean.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
We went to a little preview in the park activity for a new all ages gym that is opening in the area soon. It is only going to be about 1 mile away and I thought that may be a good way for DS to burn some energy this winter when we are cooped up. Well the classes are $760 per season! What!?!?!?!?!

I would be an expert at talking to others and being more confident in large groups.
