Anyone else ever have a low fetal heart rate?

i am worrying myself sick and I know there isn’t much I can do.  I had a second ultrasound yesterday and baby grew great over the week but the heartbeat is slow (112) at 7 weeks.  I work in an ER and one of my doctor friends ultrasounded me today and the heart rate is 110.  I am just coming off a miscarriage.  I just feel sad.  Anyone else ever go through this?

  • I think low HR in the beginning is normal.

  • Anything between 90-110 is normal at 6-7 weeks. With my loss, it was really low - like 80s.

  • At 6w3d the HR was only 110, however yesterday at 7w5d it was 151.  Anything from 90-110 is totally Norma through week 7!

  • Thanks!  I’m trying to stay positive.  I have another ultrasound on the 6th.  My doctor said she wished it was 120.  I am praying this little baby is doing okay.  I did see 110 could be normal.  In my last pregnancy the HR was 163 at 7 weeks so it just feels different
  • I was 6w5d yesterday with a HR of 120 and the Doc said that was normal.

  • That’s pretty normal for where you’re at. Mine was much lower at 6-7 weeks and at 8+0 it was 175.

I’ve been doing a lot of research on this as I was worried about the heart beat as well. With a borderline low heart rate the chance of an adverse outcome decreases until it reaches a plateau at 120 bpm for 7 weeks. That means that with a heart rate of 112 you would be at a slightly higher risk of something going wrong but that risk would be only be marginally higher (so only a couple of percent, decreasing the closer the heart rate is to 120). If by 8 weeks the heart rate is in normal range, that risk decreases. So, at the end of the day the probability of something good happening is a lot higher.
  • Thanks for all the positivity you guys!  You fall in love with these little beans and it’s so hard not to worry.  I really appreciate it
  • My first ultrasound was today and baby measured 7+1 with a heat rate of 100. My doctor said it’s not unusual for it to be low this early, but she does want to see me back in two weeks to make sure it’s increasing appropriately. I definitely understand that it’s hard not to worry!
