Prenatal Vitamin?

My current prenatal is causing my nausea..arg.
Im curious to know what prenatals work best for you? I know everyone is different, but there is so many to choose from. I would love love some suggestions. :)

Re: Prenatal Vitamin?

  • I can’t take oral iron, so I take gummy prenatals- they still have DHA and folic acid which is the most important (and they don’t taste fishy at all). I take them in the morning usually and they’ve never made me more nauseous.

If yours make you nauseous even even if you switch, try taking them at night.

These are are the ones I like.

  • I get the one a day prenatal the strawberry chewy gummies

  • I take New Chapter prenatal and a separate DHA. The thing I like about the new chapter is it’s really gentle (says you can take on an empty stomach, although I don’t). You take 3, which could be helpful or not - helps me because I take it 3 separate times and feel like all the vitamins are more spaced out, haha.
  • I appreciate your suggestions :) I am not taking gummies, so i will consider those! Maybe easier on the stomach than taking a pill!
  • What time of day are you taking them?  I've always had problems with prenatals that they make me sick, but I take mine before bed and have no issues.
Make sure you check the details on the labels of gummies because they aren't always the same as a regular vitamin.

  • Thanks for the response :) I have heard of the New Chapter prenatal! The reviews are great. I'm usually a one a day type of gal. I dont know if i could remember to take 3  :D
  • I take Zahler prenatal + DHA. Haven't had any issues with nausea, but it is a twice a day vitamin.
  • I take mykind Organics prenatal and Nordic Naturals DHA. I've found that taking a prenatal before bed works best for me, as well. Plus, mykind has folate rather than folic acid, which I prefer.
  • I will definitely start taking mine at night! & in the meantime i will look into all the other prenatal suggestions  :) Thanks!
  • @lauriebream what DHA are you taking? I’m currently looking for one.

  • @kayjay44 ha, I just ordered those off of the target site.
  • @madreofdragons - They actually taste really good....

  • I have the Smarty Pants ones and I can’t stand them.
  • I like the Target UP and UP brand gummies.  Taken them for both my pregnancies and recommend them to my patients

I’ve been taking Puori O3 for awhile. H did the research and it’s supposed to be good quality, I’ve been happy with it. A plus is it doesn’t give you the fishy burps, haha.
  • I like the Prenatal One by rainbow light. It’s just one a day which is nice because I forget to take them if they are ones you’re supposed to spread out! I also just bought the smarty pants gummies for when I’m really queasy and they taste good to me!
  • Ive been taking the 1st response gummies cuz they were onsale. Im going to switch ti the vita fusion ones once i run out!
  • Naturemade prenatal, with dinner and never any problems
  • Whoah! Maybe my prenatals are making me sick. I take  naturemade. I’ve been on them since June 2013.
  • I take MegaFoods Baby & Me vitamins. I can take them on an empty stomach without any nausea.

I’ve done the NatureMade prenatal + DHA combo the last two pregnancies. Before BFP, I was taking a Nature Made regular women’s multi gummy plus a folic acid tablet but the DHA content wasn’t anywhere close to the prenatal so I switch for at least the first tri. When I finish up my prenatal bottle I’ll probably finish off my multi bottle. Maybe. I don’t know  :D
  • The Smarty Pants ones were officially what was giving me the poops.
  • Oh and I also take mine right before bed which helped with the nausea that they gave me my first pregnancy
  • I was taking the gummies, but those make me sick so now I’m taking Nature Made.
if you are having a really rough morning, Smoothie King has a pgal smoothie (is has a name but I can’t remember it) with prenatal vitamins in it. You can ask to have prenatals put in in any smoothie, but they charge extra, annoyingly.
AND if you are in Baltimore, the fed hill SK has $5 32 oz for any smoothie on Friday’s, a deal I intend to take full advantage of :)
  • @conchispitita I wish we had SK in my area. Or any good smoothie shop for that matter  :'(
