Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. R/R: Rant: No rants today! Rave: I'm excited to start another cycle. We're painting the master bedroom today! First big project in the new house. Trying to get it done before the carpet cleaners get there tomorrow. So much chaos but it's a welcome distraction from TTC.

CS/Q: Nothing to see. I think I'm going to take this month off temping. Mentally, I'm almost ready to give up.

I FINALLY got some antibiotics for this ridiculously long sinus infection I’ve had. It’s been going on since April, but my BSC self thinks it’s probably been going on for longer than that, like years longer… but regardless, I’m finally on antibiotics! I was so worried about the appointment. I thought for sure they were going to say it was just allergies and send me away with nothing. But the doc validated my concerns and said she could see swelling in my ear (I thought it had moved to my ear, I had some bad vertigo and “under water” feeling in it) and could even see the post nasal drip I’d been feeling. I’m on Amoxicillin for 10 days. I’m just hoping it’s strong enough.

    CS/Q:
Any advice for how to fend off a yeast infection while taking antibiotics??

GTKY: If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be?
I like this question but it’s also a hard one lol. I’m a dog person so I can bring myself to say a house cat, so maybe a mountain lion. I’m adaptable, quick to react, and look cute and innocent but can be easily irritated.

@meladams10 I’m so happy you have such a great distraction from TTC. I’m trying to find a good one too, which is hard when work is not providing enough work. Oh please don’t give up! I don’t know what I would do without all the encouragement you’ve given me. I have my FX for you that round 2 of clomid will do the trick!

@sparklingdiamond I’m glad you’re getting some help for your long cycle. Hopefully the next one will be better balanced by your acupuncture.

GTKY: If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be? (stolen from TWW cause I thought this one was fun!) I'm joining the day train. Seriously, my brats have the life. Sleep all day, get attention on their terms, food delivered on demand. And, no one says anything about them having a bitchy day. It can't get much better!

@meladams10 distractions are great! Tenping can be such a chore (emotinally and physically) so I don't blame you for taking the month off.

@sparklingdiamond I hope your Dr agrees to let you do something to end this cycle.

Sorry for jumping all over the map here, I was at the walk-in clinic earlier and the bump app is terrible for responding.

@LJMoon6 Glad you're finally getting some treatment for your infection. That sounds awful. I've never had a yeast infection and I'm no doctor but when I was on antibiotics my body went haywire. Probiotics and yogurt (or kefir) saved my life.

@prpl11butterfly I think you've convinced me to try vaginal temping. I dug up some old thread and others have said they still use their mabis basal thermometer for vag temping even though it says oral only.

@meladams10 yay for painting! that's a (potentially) fun distraction. hopefully you get it all done in time before the carpet cleaning tomorrow.

@quidditchcapn1120 yes I sometimes get EWCM early in my cycle. I love your username btw.

WAYDTGKU: same as yesterday, except now I'm on antibiotics for my UTI. Apparently macrobid is safe to use during pregnancy up until right before you give birth so that was reassuring that it shouldn't throw anything off too much.

R/R: It's election day here so I went bright and early to vote. Productive day so far! Feeling energized today.

CS/Q: Going to try switching to vaginal temping and see how that goes. Still new to temping so I don't want to change things up too much right at the beginning.

GTKY: If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be? (stolen from TWW cause I thought this one was fun!) I answered this above but I think I'd be a cat. I need a lot of sleep, I like affection but on my terms, and I am a bit OCD about cleanliness. Not like Monica Geller OCD but I have tendencies lol.

@prpl11butterflyI know it’s going to make me sound crazy but here it goes anyway: 5 years ago I randomly developed a post nasal drip with some sinus pressure. I went to my PC then and she said it was allergies and told me to take allergy meds. I didn’t agree with her but I took them anyways. It didn’t help. So she sent me to an ears, nose, and throat doc. He also said it was allergies. I told him I didn’t think so because I’ve never had allergies before. He said as you get older you can develop them more and that I would just have to live with it. So for 5 years I’ve tried to convince myself that I just have allergies. The pressure does seem to get worse when its allergy season but the post nasal drip has never gone away. Back in April, when allergy season picked back up, the pressure got worse. A month later it moved to my ear. I only had the “under water” pressure for one day and then the next it was gone but replaced by vertigo. The day after that the vertigo was gone, so I thought maybe my body was fighting it off. Then when I had my HSG my OB prescribed me a couple antibiotics for the procedure. My symptoms started to go away! I hadn’t really realized how bad I was feeling for so long until I had that day of relief.  That’s what convinced me it’s really a sinus infection and not allergies. I waited a few more weeks after that cause I didn’t want to take anything that might screw up our chances for that cycle. I was also hoping it would resolve on its own, I’ve been going to the doctor so much lately MH was starting to make fun of me. I’m not sure if I’ve truly had it for 5 years but I do know I’ve had it since April.

WAYDTGKU: BD, BBT, OPKs, CM (LOL at all those acronyms)

R/R: Rave: I just switched careers to real estate and I’m loving being in charge of my own schedule. Today I was able to take the day off and hang out with a friend before she heads out of town for 6 weeks.

CS/Q: The more I chart, the more complicated my cycles seem. First cycle I knew nothing and assumed I O’d at CD14, last cycle I started charting and thought I O’d at CD16, and this cycle I’ve added OPKs and it’s looking like I may have O’d yesterday?! (OPK was darkest yesterday morning and has gotten progressively lighter since then). And my temps are all over the place despite temping vaginally. UGH. If only MH and I had the libido to BD every other day all month, then I wouldn’t fret about timing for O

GTKY: If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be? (stolen from TWW cause I thought this one was fun!) Hmmm probably one of the monkey varieties. I can be very playful and have quite an expressive face (hence my overuse of emojis). Other people have likened me to a coyote for my trickster antics (meant positively lol)  :p

@meladams10 Hope you have fun with the painting today! Full day projects can be a nice distraction. I’m sorry you’re feeling mentally exhausted from TTC. I don’t have much experience, but it seems letting your mind rest a little by not temping may help.

@sparklingdiamond Good luck with the doctor. I hope you get some answers that are helpful.

@LJMoon6 I’m glad you’re finally getting that sinus infection taken care of! What a lengthy ordeal for you.

@suzycupcake Thanks so much for suggesting I do OPKs twice a day! Quite helpful

@LJMoon6I hope you start feeling better!! Allergies and sinuses are such a pain to deal with. Thank you for all of your encouragement. I was on a low yesterday but hopefully am on the way back up today. I hope you can find you a good distraction from TTC. It really does help a lot!

@prpl11butterfly That's very interesting about your temps now that you switched it up!

@sparklingdiamond Temping just stresses me out! I definitely plan to take this month at least off. It's like an addiction!!

@quidditchcapn1120 I am such a fan of neutrals! Think rustic, farmhouse, etc. We chose Valspar Filtered Gray for our master bedroom! It seems like a calming color :) What's your favorite interior paint colors?

@kindbytealikat We just need to do a few things here and there and we're going to look into a kitchen renovation! What type of repairing/painting are you gonna do? What's your favorite paint colors?

@navete Real estate always seems so interesting! I definitely think it takes the right personality to do that career but it seems pretty fun!

@navete Chiming in to say it is very, very unlikely you would have O'd on CD6 and if you did, that would certainly indicate a problem.  What kind of OPKs are you using?  A positive will typically be pretty obvious, at least as dark as the control line.  My positives are blazing and much darker than the control line.  Keep using them and you'll start to see a pattern and when you have a real positive you will most likely know it.  There is definitely a learning curve with OPKs.
  • Options

@Sparty18 Thanks for chiming in. I’m using Wondfo OPKs. I think you’re right; I just need to get used to using/reading them and learn to recognize my pattern. I’m continuing to get a fairly dark line (but less than the control line). I haven’t seen anything that was darker than the control, just got nervous because the lines seemed to be getting lighter. But perhaps there’s no progression with LH and it fluctuates slightly before/after the surge?
  • Options
@navete It will certainly fluctuate quite a bit and can vary depending on many factors such as the dye in the test, how diluted your urine is, etc...  I'd recommend doing a couple a day for now and with the Wondfo OPKs many people will say it's actually best to not use first morning urine.  I typically just do one a day now when I use them and do it in the evenings because that is what I found works fine for me.  Hopefully once you see a positive you'll be like oh wow, ok!  I also don't start using mine until a few days before my usual O day so I don't go crazy.  :)  Good luck!

@meladams10our living room is this I don’t know dark beige/light brown. I’ve always hated it but didn’t ever do anything about it because I thought we’d be out of this house in 5 years. Well that’s off the table for at least 3 more now so I have to at least change paint to tolerate it. Anyway, I want to lighten up the living area and hall, so we’re looking into a sandy color something pretty neutral but won’t wash out with the beige furniture we have. We’re going to accent the large wall in this dark blue. That wall corners with the kitchen, which I’m also repainting. I’m thinking beige or a light brown in there, something different than living area but still mostly light and neutral. I really wanted to paint the kitchen white and paint my cabinets black but DH vetoed that idea.

@navete - Just to chime in as well about the OPKs, since I too struggled with reading them. I used a dip stick brand (not sure if it was Wondfo or not) for two months and had a hard time reading them. I regularly got lines that were as dark and even darker than the control, but they didn't coincide with other factors. Someone on here recommended the ClearBlue digital OPK, and I'm so glad I switched, if only for the peace of mind. It's a bit more expensive, but I found that it was worth it to ward off the craziness. For example, last cycle I used both and got a positive on the  dipstick OPK and  peak on CB, then two days later tried again and still got a positive dipstick but a negative CB. For me, I think the dipstick brand was too sensitive and was showing a lot of false positives. I don't want to make it more confusing, but it does go to show that you might need to test out what brands and methods work best for you, since they don't all work for everyone. And, if the expense is ok, the ClearBlue ones take a lot of the guesswork out of it.

@meladams10 I’m loving grays right now for sure.  My husband is more of a bright color fan so it’s very difficult for us to agree on paint colors.  I usually get my way though- I always talk about how it will impact resale value haha!
