@stothi thanks for the insight! Pregnancy has brought on lots of wispy hairs. When I was little my mom called them my halo...they were much cuter when I was 5 than they are now that I am an adult expected to look put together.
Wah! I gained 4 pounds in a week! I don't understand what happened! I mean we only ate out/ordered every single meal from Friday though Sunday and then ate take out leftovers Monday and had like a dozen doughnuts in 2 days and that ice cream sundae before bed that one night and that whole canister of chips and that bag of cookies I just ate... Oh... Wait... Yeah... I think I see what the problem is... Excuse me while I go stock up on oatmeal and broccoli. Brb... Lol. Apparently I decided to be a big ol' piggie this last week! Oops. I told you all I was going to gain a billion pounds when hubby got home to enable my cravings, lol. I guess I was not wrong! Om nom nom nom nom!
@stothi I honestly haven't even been weighing myself at home, just waiting until I get to my appointments. Good luck scaling back!
Here are my randoms for the day:
My H and I (and DS) are going to be trying Dinnerly next week. It's a lower cost meal delivery service that features simpler meals (6 ingredients or less with 6 or fewer steps, more family friendly) and I'm really excited! Our spending on groceries has been getting a little out of control so I'm hoping this helps us reel it back under control.
My coworker and I have been busting our butts working on some projects and we had a not so great meeting on Tuesday that threw a potentially big roadblock in our way that is now requiring additional research and frustration on our parts. So much red tape to cut through and we both left the meeting ready to cry from not hearing what we thought we would hear. Ugh, one step forward and two steps back. Progress in health care is SO slow. I really want some wine, beer, or hard cider right about now.
@nlc8424 I normally don't ever weigh myself but I gained weight insanely fast last pregnancy and have a few notes of how much I gained when and have been comparing to see how it's going this time. It was great until hubby got home! Slow and steady small amounts... Until this week when apparently I lost my mind and ate all the things! I just texted hubby to tell him how much I gained. And that I wanted a strawberry milkshake. And doughnuts... And pizza! Lol. I'm out of control!
I'm going to look at this Dinnerly you mentioned and see if available in my area. I don't care if I gain weight cause I'm pregnant, but gaining cause I'm eating all the junk in the land does make me feel like I should try just a little harder to make better choices.
@nlc8424Let us know how dinnerly works for you. I’ve been wanting to try one of those services, but wasn’t sure I wanted a bunch of steps. This sounds better. Sorry about your work frustrations! My clients never understand why we can’t decide we want to work with a new vendor or provide a new service and it takes 6-12 months or more to research, verify compliance, contract and implement. Oh and I have been putting lemon lime Gatorade in a blender with ice and pouring it in a margarita glass. It’s my “margarita” which also means I can start drinking margaritas at 9am on a rough day.
@stothi you are just enjoying your Hs time home...making up for lost time.
@klj0228 and @stothi I will definitely report back. It's $30 per week for 2 people for 3 meals ($5/person per meal) and there is a $8.99 delivery fee. Not bad in my opinion. The portion sizes tend to be big enough that I think we'll be able to share with DS without going to a 4 person plan.
On next weeks menu is sloppy joes (with grassfed beef) with spiced sweet potato wedges, creamy gnocchi with spinach and fried shallots, and ginger chicken stir fry with snow peas and noodles. Sounds good to me! They still use organic/fresh ingredients but they're more basic recipes. I'm optimistic it will work well.
Several friends in Houston use Freshly. It is food prepared locally and frozen. You just microwave it. Friends said it was super easy during maternity leave. They have something for every kind of diet. It costs about as much as other meal delivery services. It's just already made and portioned out for you.
Also, our contractors wife dropped off a thank you gift of a full set of towels to go with our newly remodeled bathroom tonight. It was so sweet of them and we totally weren't expecting it. They are our neighbors and just a really great couple to be friends with, we ended up letting them keep the copy of our house key in the event of an emergency since we really trust them.
I posted a super quick vent on Facebook earlier, that yes, my life has been and will be harder at other times but I haven't gotten more than 6 hours of sleep for like 10 days straight and I'm cranky and want to kick everyone out of my house for a day to catch up of sleep and cleaning.
Someone came back and pretty much told me first to "find a way to carve out sleep" and when I answered that a being in my house (it has rotated between husband, toddler, and each dog) has woken me up during normal sleeping hours..so other than my one night that I work late and can't control it was all just a fluke...she then proceeds to remind me that she had two under two, so deal with it.
Ugh, yes, again, it's not the worst week ever, but I still don't have to love being woken up at 2, 3, 4, or 5 am because a dog is being an asshole!
When I say I want to vent, I don't like being told to grow up. Everyone needs to vent sometimes, everyone has bad days and moments.
Rant over, thanks!
Also, tiny person has finally started saying "mom" and giving me huge hugs, so this week was pretty good minus the tired.

@pourmeamocktail I feel you right now. #teambarelyanysleep here too. Between Polly and the dog constantly kicking me when I'm laying down, it's hard to sleep. Sounds like you need to "unfriend" her. She really should've been more understanding.
@pourmeamocktail big hugs, I've been there before and it is maddening and makes me want to do the same thing as you (or as an alternative, makes me want to run away and sleep in a hotel until I remember I don't sleep well in places that aren't my bedroom). I 100% get that you just want to vent and I hear you and commiserate. I will also say the responses you got are the exact reason why I don't put that on Facebook, or honestly even typically tell my mom about it because she would react much in the same way. I know sometimes all we want to do is vent and have someone say "I'm really sorry, that IS tough. I'm sure this will pass but I'm here to listen in the mean time", but many people just don't know how to stop at that without throwing some quip in about expecting this with young kids, blah blah blah.
@pourmeamocktail you’re right, it’s not the worst week in the world, but lack of sleep is rough! It makes getting through every other task of the week even harder. And lack of sleep while pregnant is even harder because this whole growing a human thing takes a lot of extra energy!! Sorry this person was rude to you when all you wanted was to vent. Maybe they were having a tough week in other ways and were just taking it out on you. (Which by the way is not right either)
and YAY for your lo saying “mom” and giving you big hugs! Those help a tough week be not as bad.
Ugh I'm sorry @pourmeamocktail, I don't get why people can't be compassionate and have empathy and instead need to make it out to some "I have it worse" high horse competition. No sleep that long while pregnant is ROUGH. I hope it gets better soon.
@EErin86 I got one too... They didn't have the colors in the bag I wanted on sale, so I got the next size down. They didn't charge no tax. Best $50 spent on Polly so far. Lol!
@stothi haha no! September 6th! I think my comment about wanting to look pretty for my birthday right before I deliver was glanced over. I'll be somewhat surprised if baby girl decides she needs to share my birthday like my H and FIL share a birthday (Aug 20th), but 10 days early would be okay by me.
Thanks guys, I knew you would get it. It's unfortunately family, so getting rid of the friend isn't really an option. I'm tired of mom's with kids in college telling moms of little ones to grow up! It's hard, that's all.
I wouldn't vent on Facebook, but my life allows me to talk to my friends and family maybe once a once otherwise, my goofy schedule let's me see husband, toddlers, and drunk people only most weeks.
Oh well, it's just a difficult time, we'll get through. Last night was more of the same and tonight I work until probably 11, and get up at 7, so not hopeful. Maybe tomorrow night?!

My baby girl is apparently as excited about the royal wedding as I am! She is flipping and kicking and being a squirmy work this morning and I have barely felt her the last couple weeks.
Ugh this daily mail article makes me so mad! She doesn’t look like she’s pregnant with twins, she just looks 9 months pregnant (which she is)! Aghhhh!!!
We finished painting the nursery this morning! It nearly killed my back, but I'm so glad that part is finished. And my parents got us the dresser! It arrives tomorrow. So excited for the nursery to be coming together.
My friend lent me her belly support band and it is a LIFE SAVER! I have been running errands for five hours and my sciatica is not bothering me at all! I went flower shopping with my Mom and can’t wait to work on my planters later. I’m currently eating at Sonic by myself and don’t have to share my chocolate shake with anyone (all the praise hands).
Well, we ended up painting the trim in our living room and dining room today. I forgot how sore painting makes my hips, holy cow! Also, this belly is doing me no favors with the extra weight when I had to get up and down on hardwood floors. Ouch is all I can say. Finally sitting, took a couple tylenol, and drinking some water to make sure I stay feeling okay.
I got really sick last night. After 24 weeks of no morning sickness, I guess it’s fair to have some random tummy trouble. I had a fairly unhealthy, high fat dinner (pulled pork and potato salad and it was delicious) but I ate late, and probably had too much. Around midnight I got so sick. Threw up so hard I broke blood vessels in my face so now I look like a monster haha. I was worried that something was wrong but baby seemed unphased and continued kicking away.
@ashh2018 sorry you were sick last night. My dr said this late it could be heartburn, even if it doesn’t feel like it, so now I take Prilosec twice a day. It has seemed to help for the most part and I was very sick the first 16ish weeks.
ETA all that to say yes, it could have been what/how much you ate, but could also be just heartburn.
Thanks @nlc8424 and @klj0228! I’m ok today, just headachey and pounding water. And avoiding mirrors so I don’t scare myself with my face haha. I honestly think I just ate too much bad food. I guess my stomach is a little more squished now and I can’t do thinks like that! Lesson learned. Reasonable portions of grilled chicken and spinach for dinner tonight, blah haha.
Does anyone know when month 6 starts? TB says at 25 weeks. Several links via google say 26 weeks. I'm 25 weeks and am excited about getting to another month.
@ashh2018 I'm sorry you got sick. It is quite an accomplishment that you hadn't got sick for 24 weeks. I started at about 9 weeks and even though it has lightened up on me, I still get sick 2-3 times a week.
@smsaulino I just count months backward from my EDD to make it easy. So, I’ll be 6 months on June 3rd (due Sept 3rd). I guess that will put me at one day shy of 27 weeks. Not sure how “accurate” that is, which is why most go by weeks, I think.
It's tricky @smsaulino but I found this chart. It looks like they have basically added a week to each trimester, since a month is not really 4 weeks... <img alt="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/eo/nfmu4ordp252.jpg"> ETA this also puts 3rd Tri as starting week 27, which I had been figuring week 28... <<<insert shrug gif>>>
I've been doing it similarly to @businesswife 's chart. I'm in month six so I say I'm six months pregnant. It's just easier for me. And makes me feel better about my big belly.
Y'all, last night I met someone who is also pregnant. We exchanged due dates and I was guessing she was a couple months behind me. NOPE! She's due first week of August. H had to tell me multiple times that her belly looked smaller because she's so much taller than I am I say all that to say I look 6/7 months pregnant so that's just what I tell people.
Confession: those weeks-to-months charts make no sense to me. The day you turn 30 years old you’re in your 31st year of life, but you still say you’re 30, not 31! Those charts basically go up to 10 months, not nine, which is so misleading. Anyone talking about pregnancy in months is likely thinking you give birth at 9 months, not 10.
@Redpuma119 The problem is that except for February, months aren't only four weeks in length. So each calendar month adds 2-3 more days on, totaling a couple weeks by the time you add that up. You are actually pregnant 280 days (assuming 40 weeks), which is 9.3 months, averaging 30 days per month, or 9.03 months averaging 31 days per month. Nobody is actually ever 10 months pregnant because that would equal almost 43 weeks, which no OB will let you reach. And the thought of being 43 weeks pregnant makes me want to cry right now! I think those charts are bogus so I just go by calendar day to tell months. Most of the time I tell people how many weeks I am because it's easier to keep track of.
@wishilivedinflorida Right, and 9.3 isn't 10, but it is going into the 10th month. My thought behind it was that most people assume a month is 4ish weeks right? Obviously it's longer.. but you get me
