@BusinessWife for me meeting the doula would make me more nervous too. The fetal echo is more important but none of that is under your control. It is what it is and there's nothing for you to do but show up. The doula you have to think about and make decisions and hope for all these little intangible feelings and things to fall into place. That's how my brain thinks about the situation at any rate.
Here's hoping everything goes great today!
  • Hey ladies, nothing for me this week but hoping appts and scans go well for all :)
@BusinessWife Hope echo and meeting the doula goes well. I am really wanting to know how the doula " interview " went.
@knitknitread hope your AS goes well. I find you can see so much more at this one. exciting!
@pourmeamocktail FX this placenta is moving on up for you
@MandyMost I feel the same way. Every time I have a quick check up with the OB just hearing the heartbeat takes me anxiety down a lot even though we are well into the pregnancy now :) Hope HB and measurements are good.

@smsaulino movement varies by the day for me too just like BusinessWife said.

@jhjocelyn hope your DH gets home soon so you can see what the results are. I also agree with how @BusinessWife put it, but hoping for good results!
  • 23+5 I'm off to have my whooping cough vaccine tomorrow. Apparently it can make you feel a bit under the weather for a couple of days has anyone else found that?
  • Congratulations @jhjocelyn !!!  How nice to know she's CF free!

@jhjocelyn that's great news! Yay for Brooke! I'm glad he came around to the name

@jhjocelyn glad your H got home and you got the news she is cf free. And yay for H agreeing to the name Brooke!!
  • @jhjocelyn congrats on the CF free news!
@BusinessWife I'm glad it went well! And sorry that the doctor made a dumb comment (although it sounds like you let her know with your facial expressions and she felt regretful about making the comment!).

@BusinessWife thanks for the update. Glad the scan went well and maybe the tech helped push your H back in the right direction with the name you want.

@jhjocelyn yay for CF free! And picking a name you like!

@BusinessWife sounds like a mixed bag appointment. It's great that everything looked good, very happy for you that the medical part went well. Too bad some people just don't quite think about what they say before they say it, my face probably would have said more than my mouth too lol.
  • Even though at my last appointment doc said they'd do a quick scan to check on placenta placement issues today, but apparently had since changed his mind and instead of multiple follow ups, wants to just do hopefully one check on it in another 6-8 weeks. Not real pleased about it just because it could alter my plans so much, and if accreta develops, they'll want to take baby out at 34-35 weeks... I feel like that's something I'd personally prefer to know much before 32 weeks, but still before 30 as well. Glucose test next time...yay.

@pourmeamocktail sorry the doc changed his plans on you about checking placenta placement today. I’m sure in his mind they don’t want you worrying about something too much that could change a lot in the next 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately, that actually means you will be thinking about it in that time. Maybe you could talk about it a little further at your next appointment?
  • @jhjocelyn that is wonderful news.
@BusinessWife sounds neat- glad all is well

      Anatomy Scan Yesterday..

    Questions or Concerns...
ok...I was nervous going into the scan like something was wrong but just shook it off. Went in and everything was going great...heart great, spine great, brain great, bladder already has urine....great....but..wait....kidneys. ok...there are 2 kidneys...they are obviously productive but are enlarged and there is another spot but it is not bladder or another kidney. Looks like it connects to left kidney but not sure. So of course I burst into tears when the tech says she needs to get the doctor. Long story short....they dont know. It could range from nothing...to something that will correct itself before birth.....to something requiring immediate surgery after birth. She even talked about fetal demise but said that it is a low risk because the kidneys are working there just seems to be a possible plumbing issue. Also said that these type of issues  are common in boys and usually do correct themselves with time....SO we are bumped up to high risk and going to see a maternal fetal specialist in next couple weeks for a better quality u/s and specialist diagnosis if necessary.

So there it is..I think the thing that is freaking me out the most is just the unknown. Like, I just need to know what it is so I can be prepared for whatever. I hope it is nothing and it is just their crap equipment....but preparing for the worst I guess??

Edited because I suck at typing on my phone

@Asunshinek oh I'm sorry for the nerve wracking visit. I hate the unknown too, as difficult as it is to just hang tight I'm pretty sure Dr. Google won't be much comfort right now. It's always good to be referred to specialists as needed, and I hope you'll be in good hands. Will keep you in my thoughts and hope for the best!
  • jumpy57jumpy57 member
@Asunshinek sorry you got questions instead of answers at your scan! Hopefully you can see a specialist soon and get some answers. It sounds like everything is working though so that's good

@asunshinek So sorry to hear it :( I hope the MFM and advanced ultrasound can figure it out and it's minor. Not sure if an anecdote will make you feel any better but I know two women who had similar kidney spots found at AS, both boys, and their kids are now toddlers and totally fine -- whatever the issue was resolved itself in utero. Good luck and keep us posted!

With DS my arm got pretty sore but it I felt totally fine otherwise.

  • @Asunshinek - Big hugs. The unknown really is the worst. Hope you get in to the MFM soon it turns out to be something that corrects itself before birth just so you don't have to worry about it.

@jhjocelyn - Congrats on the CF free news!!

@southernlady07 definitely ask your doc, but from what I remember with mine, it wasn't a fasting thing or at least not a full fast. I remember having a light breakfast at some point.

@southernlady07 each practice has different procedures, it seems. For mine, you don’t fast (they will send you home if you do), but you eat a protein-centered breakfast and try to avoid sugar/ carbs. Last time, I think they took fasting bloodwork and then I drank it and they took blood an hour later. Not sure if the fasting bloodwork was for the glucose or other prenatal tests.
