@emmasemm we will only get one report on day 6 so I will get a call from my nurse on Monday! I’m glad you’re feeling better and were able to come up with a plan. I did estrogen priming and also added 3 ganirellix injections in my LP this cycle (to help with asynchronous follicle growth) and all my follicles grew together. Hoping the estrogen and progesterone help for you! You’re going to be doing a fresh transfer right?
  • Options
@beachbunnyxo123 nope, no fresh transfers any more - we’re doing three banking cycles and PGS testing before transfer - partly to try to speed up getting a success and partly as I need the full immune suppression and clotting protocols for transfer

@emmasemm oh good that sounds like a great plan!!! Your last transfer was a fresh right 3 day right?
  • Options
I’ve done a day 2 and a day 5 fresh before (the 2nd cycle our one egg retrieved didn’t fertilize)

I’m not sure if I’m going to be more stressed about them not making it to freeze when it comes to it... when you do fresh you can always go for an earlier day if they’re not looking so good (or not very many).
But not wondering if a transfer will happen or not after ER I’m hoping will ease some of that stress.
These days between that you’re in now were the worst ones for me.

Diagnosis (if you've been): N/A, first appointment is next week

    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Unsure, hopefully some testing.

How are things going?: Honestly not great. I have had issues with moderate spotting for 1-7 days before AF for years now, and all Docs have said 'everything is normal'... but I find myself thinking that no one has ever tracked hormones over my cycle, and most past testing has been done on only one day, typically early in my cycle. I managed to have blood work drawn a few months back when I was having my 'typical issues', and had low FSH and LH. We have been TTC for 9 months now (I turn 35 in a month), and I finally managed to get an appointment with REI. I'm just feeling a bit down, especially because several friends/coworkers/family members have recently announced pregnancies or given birth, including my younger SIL who will have "the first grandchild" this summer. I'm finding it very difficult to spend time with her and the family, seeing her belly grow, knowing that we started TTC earlier. Please don't get me wrong, I'm happy for her, but I just can't seem to be my normal happy-go-lucky self when we're all together anymore.

Any questions?: What should I expect at the first Fertility appointment?

    @emmasemm Congratulations! What an accomplishment!!

@jlovesp so sorry you find yourself here. I think you will find that this is an amazingly supportive group of ladies. They've given you great advice so far. I will add to write down your questions as they come up either on your phone or a notebook and bring it w/ you to your first appt. My experience with the first REI appt didn't include any physical exams. We met in an office (not an exam room) and discussed the labs/paperwork we completed and then talked about options. It was about an hour. I hope you find some answers. And cut yourself some slack, your feelings are your feelings and you're allowed to experience them.

Hello everyone. Just updating on the TTC front here. I went to a counseling appointment today at my IVF clinic and am getting ready to plan our cycle. When CD1 starts I'll be put on birth control and will go in for some final testing and get a calendar and order my medications. It looks like we'll be cycling in July, if my dormant ovaries behave as they usually do and I get my period at the end of this month or early next month.

I'm both excited and nervous. Just 3 vials remaining of our donor's sperm so it really is getting down to the wire now.

Anyway, I've been lurking a lot and will probably contribute more when the time gets closer and I'm actually on BC and starting the cycle.

Shout out to @emmasemm for graduating! Congratulations!!!! Not having to write papers, read academic literature, and go to classes is one of the best feelings ever :) after my master's was done I didn't know what to do with all my free time.

@beachbunnyxo123 Congrats on more good news!  Let's hope it keeps coming!
@emmasemm So glad you're feeling good about your new plan.  Keep us posted on how it all goes.  And congrats on your thesis passing!
@jlovesp Welcome, though sorry you find yourself here!  I'm glad you're able to get in with an RE.  I don't have specific advice for first appointment, other than to do some research just to inform yourself of infertility in general.  I found "What to do when you can't get pregnant" (recommended by my fertility center) really helpful in breaking down all the various treatment options and wish I had read it sooner in my journey.  Then just be ready to take lots of notes, and don't be afraid to ask all the questions!
AFM, we had our IVF consult yesterday to confirm our plans.  We'll still need to go in in 3 weeks for the "IVF Bootcamp" to meet with psychologist, scheduler, nurse, and financial consultant.  This was with the RE herself for her to share what she thought our next steps should be.  I was surprised by how many decisions we have to make.  I thought she would be more decisive but it seems more like she has a hypothesis and an idea of a plan but there's lots of plan b's and a lot of decisions for us to make.  It looks like my fibroid was a huge problem during the IUIs, so I could end up needing surgery to remove it, which would set us back 3-6 months.  She thinks a fresh transfer would make finding the cervix easier because she could use the suture from the egg retrieval as a guide, so she recommends that.  But we would have preferred frozen to have testing and ensure we use good eggs since so many of mine are likely bad.  We also have travel coming up, so we could try to squeak in the whole procedure before we travel for 2 weeks, although traveling isn't recommended after.  Or we could wait until after, which sets us back quite a bit too.  Any advice or recommendations based on all that?  MH and I are so overwhelmed and I'm just disappointed at there not being clear "right answers."

@madspunk This whole process always makes you second guess yourself every step of the way. There are no right answers for what we "should" do in terms of procedures and testing. I'm sorry you find yourself at this step of the journey. You know you will be in good company with our community going through an IVF cycle. We will be here if you ever have questions or just need a place to find support.
@emmasemm I'm glad your doctor was able to develop a new protocol for your next steps. And HECK YEAH on your thesis being approved. That is so exciting!

@jrm_14 Thanks for the suggestions and the links! I'm still trying to find my way around this forum. Much appreciated.

@lulu1180 @emmasemm Thank you for the well wishes, and information about what tests I should ask about. And congrats @emmasemm on completing your thesis! You should be so proud.

@Avrilmai Thank you for the notebook suggestion and for sharing how your experience at the first RE went. It was amazing to read the comments I got on my post; I can see why you said that this group is a very supportive group :) And thanks for the comment about the feelings. Honestly it made me tear up, but I felt a bit of a sense of relief after reading it.

@hlb8179 Thank you for the suggested reading. It's a book I would imagine? And thanks for the reminder to bring a notebook and ask LOTS of questions.

    Here's to the weekend!
