@EErin86 - I've actually re-assigned this job away from her because of repeated mistakes, but she knows how to do it (in theory, lol!) and was filling in for the regular person who was out that day. I only saw it today (and she's *very* part-time and wasn't there). One of the tough parts of working at a small business where the employees become very close is that sometimes people stay past their prime... And I'm pretty conflict-avoidant, which I'm trying to work on!

@treeofcheem oh even outside of small business people stay past their prime. I have a co-worker that just randomly naps at his desk, then will answer the phone and tell people things are crazy busy so he will help them when he can.
Well I was annoyed enough to go to the Google play store and give this app a bad rating specifically for the ads. I'm still grumpy, but the bad review felt good
I am going to be positive Polly this morning, even though I hate the ads and I think there are a lot of issues with how this app runs, maybe they will use the money from the ads to make the app better?!
And everytime I try to do something a stupid ad pops up and takes over my whole screen!!
Y'all, Are we sure it's only Tuesday? Because it feels a lot later in the week than that. I have a good friend's bachelorette this weekend. It will hopefully be fun (but is insanely disorganized so who knows). However the kicker is that we just found out there's a bridal shower with her family on Sunday. She's only registered for a honeymoon fund so I'm at a loss of what we're doing at the shower. I ended up getting her a cookbook since she mentioned being in a cooking rut and will get a gift card to some generic store I guess? What would y'all do? I feel weird giving cash at a shower. I'll give to the fund before the wedding though.
@SkilledSailor I refuse to give to cash funds and would get a traditional gift or not. Call me old and stodgy, but I am not sending you on vacay or giving towards a down payment. Asking and registering for those seems in poor taste.

Also most of those vacation fund websites take a percentage, so if I’m just doing money, I’d much rather just give actual cash that can be used for whatever
@spottedginger I certainly don't mind those kinds of registries but I don't understand having a shower to go along with it. Like..at least register for a few tangible items. Plus I use all the items I received from my shower and I feel like in a few years she's going to wish she had some of these kitchen gadgets. Maybe not though?

Yup yup! Traditionally I'll give a gift at the shower, then H and I will give cash at the wedding.
@SkilledSailor I've been trained that you bring gifts to showers and can give cash at the wedding (why the double gifting I'm not sure, but I gifted my cousin a sushi dinner for his honeymoon through a registry)
The cookbook is a good idea, you could pair it with a nice pan or baking sheet, something to go with a cool bookmarked recipe
@SkilledSailor I would probably bring a gift similar to something you really love that you received as a gift. You will not be the only person to bring a gift and not just give to the honeymoon fund. I’m with you... I use pretty much every gift I received and I frequently think of the person who gave it to me when I do use it. It reminds me of the special time in my life, but also all the amazing people who showed me their love.
I was just saying to DH about how it should be later in the week already. At least the weather is supposed to get better starting tomorrow. I'm over this crappy spring!

So basically if I want to love tit or post or tag someone in a post I am greeted with a pop up video ad. I feel like a broken record over here, but I hate these ads! Sometimes when I post I have to X out of the ad 3 or 4 times just to actually post. Ohy!
@SkilledSailor Themed gifts are fun and I feel like useful...
ex a sundae making set so Peanuts, maraschino cherries, chocolate sundae sauce, caramel sundae sauce, maybe a gift card to an ice cream place, some sundae dishes and spoons. I feel like if they don't like the dishes and spoons, the rest of it is useful and it's fun!!
Or the cookie sheet, cookbook, gift card (if the recipe fails), oven mitts, and maybe a special ingredient for the recipe or a grocery gift card!!
p.s. I'm sure the internet is more creative than me on themed gifts...

Thanks everyone! I was feeling crazy about feeling this need to bring a gift instead of cash. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way about showers.
@treeofcheem I don't use self-tanner myself, but I know my mom (who is paler than I am) likes that Jergens stuff that is basically lotion with a little bit of self-tanner that builds up gradually (I think this is what @EErin86 is talking about).

We didn't need the stuff when we got married. Solution? We didn't make a registry of any kind and I didn't have a bridal shower. Sounds like the route this bride should have taken.

@danytargaryen Exactly. I'm thinking it's probably more of a cookout since she lives out of state but her family lives here. She likely just wants everyone together for a bit. But the title "shower" is engrained in me to mean gifts.
Every time I try to click the X to close an ad, I miss and end up opening it. Ugh! I’m probably just encouraging them at this point
I've been experimenting like it's my job on just how to click, what angle, how much pressure, what duration, to get the damn ads to close without accidentally opening the freaking fracking things! Grrrrrr...
So just found out that my director and my VP were let go last night. Of course they won’t tell us much, but it is a huge impact on me and many of our clients. Trying not to stress too much, but I was planning on telling my clients about my pregnancy soon, but I’m afraid coupled with this news it might make them very stressed. Many are coming up on contract renewal and I would hate to cause them more pain or reason to not renew.
@klj0228 yikes! That will shake up a work place. I hope things transition smoothly, maybe wait until the company gives you their leadership gameplan to share your pregnancy with clients. Hopefully they give you updates soon
I feel like this would fit under the title of randoms- today I did my gardening wearing my belly band as a mini skirt cause I didn't want to get my maternity jeans dirty and was too lazy to go find other clothes. Just took my jeans off, pulled my belly band down, and went to work.
I'm strongly considering making a sushi run while DH does bedtime. If the place that made the spring rolls I like would still be open at the time, I'd probably stop there too.
Also, I'm so far underwater again at work. Ahhh. One step forward, two steps back. I wish I wasn't so ambitious and that I had better defined dates for things to be completed. Don't mind me, I'll just be over here deep breathing trying to figure out how to get all of this stuff done.
DS just dipped his cheese stick in his ketchup. I think I’m going to be sick.
Now I want those breaded mozzarella sticks that are melty and delicious that you dip in marinara sauce! Yum! Bar food is totally good for the baby, right?
@stothi, sure it’s got protein and dairy. Sounds healthy to me . Although I was referring to dipping his string cheese in ketchup, not a fried mozzarella stick, which actually sounds really good...
@nackie lol, I totally knew what you meant but as soon as I read it my mind jumped to bar food! Dipping makes me think of sauces which makes me think of fried foods. I love all the greasy fried bar foods so much. My tummy doesn't and I tend to get pretty sick if I eat it, but mmmmmm it's so good while it lasts.
Is anyone else a fan of cheese and honey? I've been known to take regular string cheese and heat it a pan on the stove so the outside gets crispy and the inside all melty and then I dip it in honey. Yum!!!
@klj0228 I'm counting on getting some serious project work done the first couple weeks of May, so I should be in a better spot soon! But basically everything is hurry up and wait, so there are many tasks where it would be really beneficial for me to act and make progress as soon as possible instead of waiting, since there will inevitably be more waiting later on down the road. Thanks for the kind words.
Early FFFC: Part of the reason I was so excited to find out the sex today was so I could get down to business buying baby carriers in “appropriate” colors. Not that this baby won’t play with his sister’s toys and use pink and purple stuff, but I’m excited to be a “Boy Mom” too and buy some blue items!

I got my sushi and it was glorious! I waited for DD to be in bed because I knew I would not want to share, haha. I got to eat my 3 spicy salmon rolls in peace while listening to an audiobook!

@nlc8424 sorry you are underwater at work again. Maybe things will slow a bit and you can catch up.
@knitknitread I wanted sushi tonight, but neither DH nor I wanted to drive to get it. I hope you get yours and your spring rolls!
@nackie it’s kind of the same thing minus the breading.
