UO Week of 3/13: Whatever You Want It To Be Edition

Re: UO Week of 3/13: Whatever You Want It To Be Edition

  • @prpl11butterfly @lin0442 - we have a traverse and we primarily bought it to tow our boat around. It's my daily driver because I drive less than DH (WFH) and it helps us save on gas rather than having him drive it everywhere. We usually drive the sedan around if we're going any great distance, unless we're towing/moving/going to Lowe's, etc. where we might need the haul space. But we do also sometimes get a bunch of snow and it's been SO nice to just drive right through it and not have to dig out.  :p

I must admit that I wanted one LONG before we bought the boat, I bought the sedan b/c it was less expensive and it was certainly a serviceable car, but when i got the opportunity to get one, I jumped at it. I'll admit I'm proud of myself for not having to get something like a suburban or a tahoe. that would have been super overkill. Also team no minivan here and the traverse meant I wouldn't need to get a different vehicle if road trip supplies wouldn't fit in the sedan. We drive literally everywhere b/c we hate flying and definitely need space for that.

  • When we replaced our car after the accident, we specifically did not want a sedan. Nothing against sedans, but I'm a larger person (I've been fat my whole life) and DH is fairly tall and mostly legs. We ended up with a Jeep Compass, which I jokingly call a "soccer mom car". It has all the features we wanted (plus a few others, like remote start), and plenty of room for car seats.

  • I like being higher up when I drive, so I like certain SUV’s for that.

    TW* kids stuff mentioned*
Two tall adults in a car with a rear facing car seat requires more than a sedan. Otherwise you have to fold up like a pretzel. I have to do this in MH’s car.

  • Per the latest drive-by- I have to admit I’d love an Ava bracelet. I’m just not a consistent temp-taker and I’d love the data. The price is not justifiable when saving for IVF :(
  • @jrm_14 I can see the interest but yea, the pricetag seems crazy.
  • jrm_14 and @prpl11butterfly I heard today that fitbit is adding fertility tracking software to their watches! I don't know how true that is though.

Omg! My Alta has been acting up so may totally be upgrading!!

    Tw** pregnancy mentioned**
I complained to them a few years ago for removing the pregnant and nursing options from their account settings. For people who preg but trying not to gain to much really could use that help. I could have used it nursing because my weight dropped to low. I could have maintained better if I was able to have help calculate intake vs burn.

H has been informed that this purchase is happening. My decision was quick once I saw how pretty the new Versa is!

  • @galactickates As the weekly grad thread says, “sometimes silence is the kindest.”  There are some grads that make me sad they didn’t post- like pebbledam. Even though older regulars recognized get & knew her back story.
There are others that even though they are not 1/1 or 2/2, they have been on the board only a month or two. The weekly grad thread even discourages those from posting there in that case.
  • @jrm_14 yes!!! I agree, there are also some on the opposite spectrum that I definitely wish posted - same example <3 .  I want to know how she's doing too along with a couple others.  I really do feel happy/sad when people move on.  Over the moon happy they are getting their take home babies, but also sad because you make these awesome connections with people then they move on.  The grad thread is like having coffee with them and catching up. I always wonder if they even think "is this something I would want to read if I was still in ttgp." I'm guessing not....

Ps. There are MANY posts that I love.  But this isn't about those.
