Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Feeding baby top 8 allergens?

Hi all! I'm preparing to start solids with my little guy. I just read that 65% of food allergies develop in babies without a family history! But I also read that the latest research says to feed baby the top 8 allergies early and keep them in his diet regularly to significantly reduce the risk of developing an allergy. What do you think about this? How are you doing this?
Thanks!!

Re: Feeding baby top 8 allergens?

  • I am very pro, but not at a super early age. I think babies should be exclusively breastfed until six months, not three, so these shouldn't be introduced untilafter six months. I haven't done a lot so far but will just introduce them one at a time just like anything else. I definitely wouldn't combine them because then you'll have a harder time figuring out what it is if they have a reaction.
  • Thanks for responding! Just curious, do you have a plan for regularly keeping all 8 in the diet, like a couple times a week? I know some people use charts or make a specific recipe.

Not at this point, no. I try to keep what she eats mixed up anyway, so I'm not super concerned about how often we feed it.
