I have had brown spotting since 2 weeks. Last Thursday I went to family doctor and got my hcg done at my normal lab. She decided that I needed to taper down my topamax medication from 100mg 2x a day to 50mg 2x a day for a week, then 50mg 1x a week then stop as it is a cat. D for pregnancy drug. Started that on Thursday the 18th.
Jan 18 hcg: 4311
On Friday the 19th I had some more spotting but still brown. Sunday I felt some pressure on my left ovary for 10 minutes and the spotting turned red. I should note that I only have my left ovary and tube due to a history with functional and dermoid cysts. In fact, prior to pregnancy I knew I had a cyst on my left ovary. I was told during another stomach surgery.
Around 3am Tuesday morning I convinced hubby to take me to hospital because obgyn did not think it was big deal when I called Monday but the bleeding increased and there was clots.
So Tuesday I was exactly 5 weeks. They did my hcg and an ultrasound where they found a gestional sack and yolk sack. My hcg according to them was 20,000. ER doctor says the cyst that was on my ovary prior to pregnancy has ruptured and that could be source of bleeding but it could also be early miscarriage, he says too early to tell.
Obgyn didn't call me back Tuesday so I called them Wednesday and demanded they call me back. In the meantime I had my family Dr order me hcg weekly.
So at the same lab one week apart;

1/25; 24192
But the ER lab got 20,000 (estimate. That is what ER Dr told me) 2 days prior.
The spotting is almost non existent now again and it's brown and sometimes there is clots but I'm waiting on another call from obgyn. I have no pain.
It is possible my #s have hit sort of a plateu because they are more of 6 week range and also the Dr said he felt the ultrasound tech should have seen more on screen for my #s then just a yolk and gestional sacs but I was exactly 5 weeks from LMP and I ovulated around 12/29 putting conception from 12/29-1/2 bc we did have sex everyday then.
Sorry for the long post but because of the epilepsy, chronic pain issues I have, and having had gastric bypass I am already high risk and so this issue has just thrown my anixety through the roof.
