Works a bit boring here too. Can't do my job until Finance guy does his but he's so slow. Monday mornings are usually a waste of me getting out of bed.
Our adoption home inspection for this morning was canceled. I picked up my house and nearly passed out for getting to hot and it was all for nothing. We are not due back in court until June so there's no huge rush, but we've been waiting Sept so I'd like it over with.
I got to work this morning, looked at my calendar, and realized I forgot to make chili for the cook-off. So I emailed my boss saying I'm taking some time off this morning and now I'm sitting in my kitchen with chili in the pot. I'm actually impressed with what I threw together, hopefully other people like it too
We told our parents, my BIL/SIL and step sister in law that we're expecting #2 this past weekend and (mostly) everyone was surprised and really excited. I'm experiencing a lot more MS this time than last time so it's a bit more difficult to hide.
I'm excited that my H is home all week this week, and we actually have a plan for dinners (not that anything sounds good). Waiting to get into a new endocrinologist to check my thyroid too, on the cancellation list.
So...nothing exciting, just trying to get through!
The kids are actually being really chill today and playing calmly together so I’m enjoying it by just laying on the couch watching them. Not feeling the greatest today so it’s working out really well that I get to just lay here lol. After my son gets on the bus I’m going for my second blood draw to check betas so hopefully that comes back good tomorrow.
I threw up while driving to work this morning. I feel like that’s the epitome of a Monday.
Everyone ok with our first product spotlight thread being about maternity clothes? I’m only 8w but I have to fully unzip my pants when I eat a meal now and that’s just not appropriate when out in public, haha.
@prpl11butterfly That’s so frustrating that they canceled! Will they reschedule soon?
Told my family this weekend. My parents reacted the exact same way as last time: surprised and sort of excited but very reserved about it. They took a few weeks to warm up to the idea last time too. At least they weren’t disappointed! DH’s family was thrilled - it’ll be the same age difference as one of his brother’s 2 kids which gives me a great frame of reference for what life should look like in Sept.
@SkilledSailor yes to the product spotlight, seems very relevant.
Sounds like everyone is having a Monday yikes! I forgot to change into my boots when I went home to make chili and it's raining/sleeting and our parking lot is a lake so now I have gross wet feet at work
We told both families this weekend by putting DD in a "best sister ever" shirt. Lots of excitement all around, it was fun. I've had a few waves of nausea for the past two days, really hoping that doesn't become a thing. I had no MS with DD and I'd like to repeat that experience.
@SkilledSailor the woman apparently fell and hurt her eye and it's swollen shut. She has no idea when she will be able to drive. Hopefully sooner rather then later because the second something with Nieces mother falls through we are going to push to move our case ahead of June. And I already sense thongs falling but need more proof.
And I'm game for maternity clothes spotlight. I need dressier stuff this time around.
It's definitely Monday. Rainy and dreary here so it's tough to wake up. Then halfway to work after my dentist appt I realized my laptop was still at home. Thankfully I'm close enough to work it didn't add too much time to get there, but it was still annoying.

My bosses and I had a meeting scheduled for this afternoon to shift some responsibilities to me, but I was hoping I would have my first u/s before I told them (which is tomorrow). I feel like them knowing I’m pregnant will make it a very different conversation. Well late last night my boss moved the meeting to Friday instead! Score!
@pourmeamocktail Are they a regular? I feel like when you're around someone regularly you pick up on small changes. The mom I babysit for part-time just told me she's pregnant. I picked up on it about a month ago when she was around 8 weeks, just hadn't asked about it.
I just found a sitter for my DD this summer! So much relief right now. My regular daycare provider doesn't work during the summer, and last year we had zero options. My husband ended up taking a layoff for the summer to stay home with her. Thank goodness I figured it out early this time.
@SkilledSailor Yes, definitely a regular, but now I'm even more confident that spilling the beans this early was right for us. I just can hide 4 pants sizes, or being nauseous at all smells of food...shudder.

Target has two chances for gift cards right now.. $40 dollar one when you spend $200 on nursery items (bed, bassinet, mattress, changing table)... and a $20 one when spending $100 on diapers, wipes, toiletries.. if you've told anyone and they want to pitch in for the above.. it might be worth mentioning.
Sitting here trying to make a grocery list for the week because my husband is finally coming home from his 14 day hitch and I just want to vomit thinking about food. The struggle is real.
@megnwingate I had to ask H to help with the meal planning last week because we'd all just eat like one green pepper and a carrot if he leaves it up to me. Nothing sounds good.
@Patience7150 MH only gave me like 3 ideas. He’s going to be the one cooking because I start my 7 day work week. Just looking at meals on Pinterest has my stomach rolling. I’m worried how I’m even going to be able to function at work, especially in the OR
@Spylon I'm sure that is a big relief. I was actually thinking about putting out a general PSA encouraging those who are planning on going back to work to seriously consider looking for day care now, 2 years and younger is tough to find! I hated saying something as soon as I knew, but I let my daycare provider know basically as soon as I turned a test positive to see if she would have any openings and she does! We've only been with her since October, but she's fantastic with DS and I feel totally comfortable with her watching my kids.
If there's any interest I could create a separate thread about day care, what to look for, what our experiences have been as a STM.
@nlc8424 You're so right about it being difficult. Even in Canada where we get a year off, it wasn't easy to place DD. I didn't start looking during pregnancy, and I really should have. I figured a year after she was born was plenty of time, but we were pretty worried for a while. I'm going to talk to my current provider about #2 very soon.
Ugh, thanks for the reminder ladies! Guess I'll have to talk to my provider soon too. I know she has 2u2 right now (our states max) but pretty sure one is going to age up in Sept/Oct. Going to stalk the mom's FB page to be sure
@smsaulino Oh thank you for letting us know! MIL wants to buy a lot of our big ticket items and it'd be nice to get an extra gift card on top of that. She's all about a deal.
@megnwingate Girl yes. I can't even open my fridge without gagging. I should grocery shop today but doubt I could make it.
@patience7150 Haha I need to see if I can get H on board with that. He can't cook well but I can't cook without gagging so one of us will have to step up. I vote H.
@nlc8424 I was just thinking about daycare. I will be a WAHM with MIL wanting to watch the LO a couple times a week but I was an infant-2y teacher before and I know how good the socialization can be. I think I'll struggle to find a good facility that will allow just a couple of half days. I might have to bite the bullet and pay for two full days.
@SkilledSailor yeah that probably would be tricky. My mom watched DS full time until he was 9 months old, financially it was fantastic, but it took every ounce of my patience and sanity to keep the peace between us during that stretch of time since my mom and I have VERY different parenting styles. Your best bet would probably be a daycare center where you can just sign up for a couple days a week to get the benefit of socialization. At home daycares it's a lot harder to find someone to agree to do part time, unless you split a week with another parent.
FWIW, I think it's a really good idea to have your foot in the door somewhere in the event that your work situation changes, or if you decide that being a WAHM or SAHM part or full time isn't your thing. I love my DS to the moon and back, but there are days I can't get him to daycare fast enough!
Plain pasta ftw for the second night in a row. Apparently pasta with just some butter and a little parmasean is all I can eat and doesn’t make me instantly sick. I never had morning sickness with any of my other pregnancies and man am I paying for it now. I’m being such a big baby about it and am just miserable. I begged my mom to come over tomorrow to take me shopping for some saltines...and more pasta...and some b6 because I’ve heard it helps. On the plus side I got my second betas back today and they look good so now just fingers crossed for my ultrasound next week!
I haven't been very active on here. Trying to figure it all out but right now I'm having trouble balancing taking care of #1, feeling like crapola, keeping up with my first BMB and just haven't been able to keep up on here. I have a cough which means I'm peeing my pants alllll day and I'm so miserable! Pregnancy/childbirth really does a number on your body. I have my first appointment tomorrow and I'm so worried I'll cough while someone is under the hood and just shoot pee at them! Also worried about waking up and getting myself and DD dressed in time for my appt at 10, which I realize it's pathetic. Perks of being a SAHM is I get to sleep in as long as I can get my kiddo to - usually 9:30 or 10.
@nlc8424 Oh that’s another good point about the work situation. I’ve been a nanny at least part time for the past 10 years. While doing it full time is when I learned I could never be a full-time SAHM. I need alone time.
Regarding daycare, I work part time (2 days a week) but send her 3 days a week. The extra day is for me to pick up an extra shift at work or to just be home alone and get stuff done around my house. I do feel kinda guilty sending her when I am not working, but I think having "my day" is really important to my mental health. I also love that she gets to interact with other kids and that the teachers always have lots of activities planned. I can tell that she gets bored if we are home too many days in a row (especially if we are stuck inside in the winter).
@mandamay1414 Don’t feel guilty about that. In my experience caring for kids, they’re happiest when the parents are happy and healthy. It’s good for the entire family to take care of yourself.
@Mandamay1414 I do the same sometimes as well during my slow weeks at work. I use those days to make appointments for myself, run errands, hit the grocery store in peace and clean the house without having to re-do it 5 minutes later. Everyone needs a little alone time and it definitely benefits the kids when momma bear is happy!
Thanks ladies! I don't know why I feel like I should want to be with DD in all my free time.. but sometimes I just want to what I want when I want. Lol, you remind me that that's not a crazy thing to wish for.
Since I've felt like sh*t the past month, I've let the household chores slide and was feeling bad about it. Then I watched Hoarders and I feel much better about the state of my home.
Also, today's win: I went grocery shopping. Only gagged once and got fresh fruits and veggies. Not just simple carbs, haha.
I’m heading to a log overdue dinner (authentic Szechuan) with a couple girlfriends tonight. Should be amazing because I love this place, but I’ve had a few bouts of nausea and gagging today and am praying not to be sick at dinner. Also coming down with DS’s daycare cold. Bleh. How does DH never get the daycare crud?!? He does mornings and bathtime very darn day so it isn’t a matter of exposure.
@SkilledSailor Maybe I need to watch Hoarders as well. I almost cried the other day just walking past the 3 basketfulls of unfolded laundry in our bedroom (that have been there for over a week now). I'm only managing the bare minimum for housework right now, which pretty much is just keeping the kitchen clean.
@Mandamay1414 I think it's great you take a day for yourself! I get one every now and then, and it definitely helps keep me sane.
@katethemom Do it, it really helped my moral! At least you had clean laundry! I felt decent this afternoon and decided to catch up on chores and have done three loads. Gah. Thank god for a decent day, I don't know what I would have worn tomorrow.
@spottedginger Hope the dinner went well! What kind of food does the restaurant serve? I'm not sure what Szechuan is.
