DS (2.5) often drinks from these plastic glasses we have that say "Party like a pineapple" (don't ask, a friend gave them to us). Tonight I was eating cereal and he asked why, so I said the baby was hungry. Then he asked if the baby drinks milk from a pineapple cup too!
He also every day asks if there's a boy in my tummy and a "girla" in my boobs. Every. Day. LOL! He does not accept that there is only one baby in there.
And lastly, we went to the OB's yesterday for my monthly check up. DS was so disappointed while we were there and I realized he thought the new baby was coming home with us that day. I kept saying we were going to check on the baby to see how it's doing, and I guess he thought he'd get to meet the baby at the appointment. Oops! My bad!
When I ask my toddler where the baby is, he points to my stomach and then pats his own tummy. I know he really has no concept of the new baby, but it’s cute that he knows baby=stomach.
My son just turned 2 and my parents tell him that Baby Brother will buy him gifts lol, so...he's pretty excited for that.
He also pointed to my chest and told me that Mama Milk was for him AND baby brother. That made my heart pitter patter as tandem nursing would be a beautiful vision come true for me.
@bdaybaby18, on a regular basis DS tells me there's a baby in his and daddy's tummies. We've explained several times that only girls have babies in their tummies. Now he keeps asking if our cat has a baby in her tummy lol
My 3 & 4 year old talk to the baby almost every day. My 3 year old was laying down with me and got so excited telling me that her baby brother was kicking her belly and it tickled. My 4 year old hugs and kisses my belly every morning before school. The 3 year old did something she wasn’t supposed to and tried to say the baby did it, nice try sweetheart!
My 5 year old rubs my belly any chance she gets and tells anyone who will listen about her baby sister. She talks a lot about how she's going to feed her and sing to her and help me take care of her.
My 3 year old thinks the baby is in my boobs for some reason. I don't think she really gets it...
The other day we picked up a bunch of baby stuff and the truck was pretty full. My 3 y/o looked very concerned so I asked him what was wrong and he said
”Mommy his won’t all fit in your belly with the babies!!”
My 5 year old was excited to come to my appointment with me, she wanted to invite her teacher (mind you she’s never even told her teacher that I’m having a baby). At that appointment my Dr asked if my girls had any questions and my 8 year old as what kind and f materials they would use to get the baby out because babies are big and our vaginas are small. She was horrified when I told her as the baby starts to come the vagina will get bigger. She also wants to be in the delivery room to hold my hand. Not happening but sweet.
My toddler keeps mentioning New Baby Brother. I'm not ready to push that agenda quite yet because I'm afraid of rocking the boat -- we had a mighty sleep regression before 2.0 was born that led to me at 9 months pregnant sleeping on the floor in his room every night. But I think school is talking about it a lot, so he brings it up.
He likes to come in New Baby Brother's room to play. He told me his name should be Baseball Bounce

DS is 2.5, so I don't really know if he really gets what's going to happen in March. But, he loves the idea that there's a baby in mama's belly. He always says "ni-night baby, love you baby" and kisses my belly before nap time and bed time.
My 10 month old has no idea how his world will be rocked. I am extra babying him all the time right now. I feel so bad for cutting into his own baby time with how close these two will be in age.

My 4 year old seems to have a really good understanding of the baby and is very excited. She talks to the baby all the time. When she’s mad at me she whispers secrets to my belly so I can’t hear her but sister can. She tells anyone and everyone about her sister. She also likes to tell the baby all the things she can’t wait to teach her. It’s basically the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
4yo: *Pointing to boobs* Is baby brother in there? Me: Why do you think that, you know he's in mama's belly 4yo: Then why are your boobs so big? Me: *tries to explain lactation to 4yo*
2 yr old DS poured his cup of milk on my belly this AM because he thought the baby wanted some milk too. Needless to say I had to get changed for work again
My 2 year old kisses my belly & tries to share his snacks/ milk with “his sister” (we’re team green). Also, when we ask him what he wants to name the baby he says “Baby Milk”
My little guy just turned 5 last week and has been talking about all of things he's going to do with baby brother.... like drive him around in his tractor, pick him up from his crib at night when he cries and feed home. Very sweet and we will have to have convos as it gets closer about how we have to be gentle with baby. I don't think he realizes just how fragile they are when born. Love it though!
If anyone here has a toddler I highly recommend getting him/her a baby doll! My two year old absolutely loves taking care of his babies. We started dolls in the spring before new baby surprised us and I’m glad we did. He changes her diaper, feeds her, snuggles and kisses her, and puts her to bed. He may not be old enough to understand the concept of a baby in my belly, but I definitely feel the dolls are helping to prepare him.
He went to my last OB appointment and the dr let him help with the Doppler. She told him that was the baby he heard. He said “no” and walked away lol
We were just at the Great Wolf Lodge and 5 yo DS was soooo concerned that the babies were gonna fall out while we were there. He made sure I didn't go on any slides (not that I was planning to) and even in the pool he kept telling me "hold your belly so they don't fall out."
I asked his recently if he was going to help me give the babies baths and he said "Hmmm...not sure I know how. Maybe when I turn 20."
We went to IKEA today to get new bedding for DS so he can move into his big boy room tonight. He was so excited saying "The baby is coming today!! I'm going in my new room because the baby is coming home today!!!" I felt bad telling him the baby won't be here for a while still.
My 5 year old is so excited to be a big brother again. He talks to his brother daily about how much he loves him and tells everyone I am having a baby in March for my birthday (I am not crossing my legs for 14 days to have him on my birthday). My 2 year old tells the baby she has loved him her whole life and wants to kiss him to sleep every night.
My 5yr old pointed at my boobs the other day and said "why are they so big?" I told her that when I had a baby in my belly they made milk so when the baby came out I could feed the baby the milk. She didn't look convinced and keeps looking at my chest suspiciously like something else is going to happen. Also in the morning after my shower I rub cocoa butter on my stomach to help prevent stretch marks (this is my third go around and I don't have any yet so it seems to be working!) and she said "Mommy, stop rubbing that on the baby!"
The funniest came from DS though who's 2.5. I told him that I had a baby in my belly so he patted my belly and said "baby!" and then stuck his head between my legs and looked up! I said "oh no honey she's not coming out anyyyyy time soon!" I have no idea how he knows that babies come out that way or if it was just a strange coincidence but I thought it was funny.
My older two kiddos have been through this before (they're 11 and 10), but my 5 yo is in awe at everything going on with me and his new baby brother. He whispers secrets to the baby often and told me that I need to swallow a nightlight so the baby won't be scared of the dark anymore (apparently the baby has told him that he's scared of the dark in there, lol). He's also concerned that the baby won't be wearing clothes when he's born. I assured him that we'll put a diaper and clothes on the baby soon after he's born. His concern and curiosity is really cute.
DD told me the other day that the baby must have a REALLY dirty diaper by now, and why don't I change it? I had to explain that the baby does not need a diaper while it is still in my belly

I got excited today because DS pulled up my shirt this morning and patted my bump and said “baby brother. Hiii! Baby!”
I still think he has no idea that someone else is coming to live with us in March! Lol.

What's he got against boys????
Also, when I was born my sister wanted me to be named "Pumpkin Pie". So thankful children don't get to name their siblings.
Me: Why do you think that, you know he's in mama's belly
4yo: Then why are your boobs so big?
Me: *tries to explain lactation to 4yo*
Me: Dada helped
4yo: Did he put it in your mouth?
Me: Would you like a cookie?
I found this conversation way funnier than DH did.
