I have been having lower back pain since Wednesday, just that mild warm PMS pain so I contacted my doctor Friday and a nurse followed up with me taking my symptoms down. No call back so I assumed they didn't recommend more testing. (I had an odd period - early, watery, pink, few clots and thought ***low estrogen***)
Yesterday, I slept 11 hours and woke up feeling good (atypical for me) and discovered I had vaginal discharge (milky, white, but not something I have ever had). No pain, itching or yeasty weirdness. Back pain + discharge, I immediately feared infection. The advice nurse wanted me to get checked within 3 days; I didn't want to think about it all weekend until I got in at my doctor's office.
We were at Urgent Care for 3 hours - U/A clean, pregnancy test was negative, pelvic exam good and swab was negative for infection. But yet, still the lower back pain. It's mild and I have definitely lost some of the symptoms last week. I took another pregnancy test this morning, negative. Just waiting until my primary care doctor gets back to me Monday. Anyone else had this issue?
Worst part: I got pitied and fat shamed with an unsolicited "infertility consult" where the urgent care doctor clearly thought I was desperately hoping I was pregnant but not accepting it (I was but WTH is going on with me?) and told me my blood pressure was high (damn right, a potential pregnancy after 2.5 years of trying or an infection!?) and that she was glad I am treating my nonexistent prediabetes (I am on it for possible PCOS, difficulty losing weight) and that I needed to go on a mostly plant based diet. She's a vegan herself.... I asked what I would do to stop the sugar crash of just eating fruit, her answer "just give it 4 weeks and it'll be better. Just drink lots of water!".
She typed me as obese (which is true, I am fat) but desperate for a child so I got her pity and advice to "not give up" but to do these simple steps of being less fat and not eating like garbage. I broke down into a terrible, ugly cry in the lobby (we were the last people there), and continued in the car. Almost lost it again in Target where I got chocolate and beer. I went home and ate the entire bar, had my girly beer and was lazy with my husband.
Better today but still low back pain and felt pinching on what I think is my right ovary. Cyst? Ugh...
Oh good, my friend checked in on me which was so sweet. But then said "this probably isn't the time" before telling me her sister is pregnant and her symptoms.
@funkykey - If that not so normal period was AF, I am on Day 9. I shouldn't be ovulating. On the pelvic and abdominal exam, the pain was definitely my uterus (not appendix, kidneys, bladder).
Still hurts, taking ibuprofen but it's still throbbing and occasionally I get a pinch sensation. Ugh, I hope it's not a cyst...
And who the eff knows with that doctor! She's an urgent care doctor not an endocrinologist. I love people that listen to a brief description of my hormonal issues and go "Have you tried eating less?" Or some other ridiculous nonsense.
She also tried to tell me that it could be my colon. No, I know the difference between an oncoming bad BM or gas, and my lady parts hurting. Today it's kind of pinched as well, just little pinches and that back pain is still there.
I am feeling better but that was miserable. From now on primary care doctor unless I am bleeding or clearly in need of antibiotics.
@benjay I'm so sorry you had such a crappy experience this weekend! It sucks to have unexplained symptoms especially when you are trying so hard to keep an eye on whats going on with your body to help you conceive! I hope its not a cyst and is just something a little out of the ordinary but normal this month. Do you have an appt. with your RE? And srsly your friend telling you her sister is pregnant after all of that??? I mean I understand we all end up getting news like that whether we want to hear it or not, but geez she could have maybe picked a better time when you were feeling a little better??? *hugs*
@BenJay I can’t say what I would like to say about this whole situation because I don’t think you can swear on TB. I think this sums it up more politely:
First off, to the urgent care doctor, unless you’re a nutritionist, stop trying to force your food beliefs on other people. Also just stop being so judgy. This isn’t your field so stop trying to make illadvised diagnoses. And can I just express how ragey and frustrated I get when someone second-guesses if a woman knows what’s going on with her ute? And for a lady doctor to do it no less? GAH!
And to your friend: Well that was definitely not the right way for her to handle that situation. I can’t believe she chose that moment to drop news like that on you in addition to not being terribly supportive. I’m so sorry. I am SO glad you indulged afterward because that is all BS.
How are you feeling now? This isn’t terribly helpful but I had a lot of unexplained cramping for a few years and it never did get explained, but it eventually went away. Definitely bring it up to your RE, though, so they can run tests for cysts. Which I hope it’s not! On another board, a lady I know ended up diagnosed with a chocolate cyst because of horrible cramping, so you never know.
@thothscribe81 - I don't have an RE, because my HMO referred me to Infertility and since they kind of gave up on us, I have been working with a phenomenal primary care doctor to figure out my hormone mystery. Unfortunately, she's not available until next week for a phone appointment.
I love my friend, but she is a bit clueless. She wanted to see Bad Moms 2 with me the other day because 'it's not really about motherhood' - I simply replied that I can get trashed and do whatever I want any day of the week so, it's not quite the same.
The urgent care doctor needs to stick stitching people's faces and less of jumping on poorly understood theories on my hormonal problems. We are literally guessing at this point what to do, so we just try new stuff. This lady had the gall to tell me to "make lifestyle changes". What the eff does she know!? (I told myself while very emotionally eating a Dairy Milk bar...)
Wait, what's a chocolate cyst?
I got an appointment tomorrow at my HMO after I told the advice nurse everything. I said that I was concerned because it's been 5 days with significant lower back discomfort. Not cramps, just like that throbbing, dull pain. In spite of that, I am in an awesome mood so good hormones are happening but I want to make sure it's for good reason.
Re: Symptom check: what's wrong with my lady parts? TMI description
What the eff is with people!? SRSLY
DH - low motility

What cycle day are you? It might be totally unrelated to IF. Back pain can be anything!
Ps. why does everyone who is vegan have to talk so much about being vegan?! I get it, plant based diets are healthy... but self-righteousness is not!

@Bababatty - Of course you found the perfect gif
