Re: Weekly Symptoms w/o Oct 7

  • @sabby2, BFP at 2w+5? I think it's more likely that you O'ed earlier than you thought. Are you going off LMP or were you charting? The blastocyst doesn't implant until 6-9 dpo (aka 2w+6 or later), and you can't have HCG in your system to turn a test until then (and it still takes at least 2 days to build up enough in your system to turn a test).

  • @icecubeinthedesert using opks so definitely knew right when LH surged.  I thought it was crazy early to get even a faint.  I only took it because I was having heartburn which I never get unless I'm pregnant.  Confirmed on another frer and digital test a few days later.

  • @sabby2, OPKs aren't really definitive for O, though I haven't heard of anyone turning one after O before. Just be prepared if your doc tells you you're measuring ahead of where you thought.

  • If I go by LH surge faint positive  (very squinty at 3 min) would be 9 days post ovulation

@icecubeinthedesert  I have heard of an opk turning after the fact.  A friend of mine had it happen this last cycle.  She was temping (and is very consistent with time and sleeping enough) and was testing every day.  She was also on Clomid that cycle (which is probably why this happened) She had 4 days in a row of dark positive OPK's and her temp went up on day 3 of the dark opks and she still had another day of dark line OPK the following day and temp continued to go up.  So to be clear her temps were 97.2 went up to 97.6 on day 3 of positive OPK and 97.7 on day 4 of positive opk.  I am not saying this is normal for a woman not taking meds, I am just saying that it can happen.

  • @icecubeinthedesert yup I was shocked turning a test.  My opks were all done at the same time of day, first morning void. I had 4 days of LH surge then they went back to being negative.
I worked as a women's health RN so I was giving myself some serious side eye taking a test that early but I had a feeling.

  • @sabby2, I'd go off the OPK. LMP is notorious for being unreliable, as many people don't have textbook 28 day cycles (and even with 28 day cycles, could O earlier or later than CD14). I also got my first faint BFP on 9dpo, and this is just about the earliest to turn a test.

Now, on the other hand, docs will usually ignore you anyways and go off of LMP simply because many people don't know how to chart properly, so this is the most concrete, quantifiable date. This is a pet peeve of mine, as I have much longer cycles, and have never O'ed before CD17, but usually more like CD24 (an this month not until CD26). So I'm sure my doc will think I'm two weeks behind at my first US. I'm glad that I know better so I don't get my RPL head in all of a tizzy over that. Oh well, that's one way to get early ultrasounds!

  • @dashaina, I think a day after O is not that crazy, especially given clomid. Probably could happen either due to +/- 1 day error in temp rises or LH carry-over (especially if turning positives for more than one or two days). But +OPK at 5dpo would be unusual. I do know that OPKs will turn from HCG as well, but again, that wouldn't happen until at least 9dpo.

  • @icecubeinthedesert When I got pg with DD1 I had later O's as well CD18 like clockwork and so instead of fighting with the midwife's office, I just changed my LMP date to line up with what would have made it CD14 and none the wiser.  It saved me a load of fighting (which I truly hate conflict and prefer to avoid when possible) and headache and anxiety (which being a first or third time mom to be we have plenty right?)  So idk, that's just want I did.  Just a suggestion.

  • @icecubeinthedesert Oh girl, I hear ya on the ignorance of the "western" medical system.  It's mind boggling to me how we, as women, can't be trusted to KNOW our own bodies.  I mean SERIOUSLY???  Ok I'll step off my soapbox.  But really this is ONE of the MANY MANY reasons we left N. America and moved to C.America...after touring a few other places in the world of course.  But that lack of listening to a woman really presses my buttons. ... I'm also pregnant so it's amplified atm   btw, what is RPL?

  • I also don't have textbook cycles. With DS, we were tracking everything. My cycles vary from 25-38 days.
The OB actually was talking about inducing me a week earlier than I was willing due to the dates. Luckily my week 12 dating u/s backed up my O date so he decided I might know what I was talking about.
Luckily this time the dates for me are only off by about 3 days.
Although changing lmp date isn't a bad suggestion... I might consider that.
  • Yeah. I only had 1 "normal" cycle after having my iud out before we started ttc.  It was about 27 days in between. My typical, 3 years ago before dd, was anywhere from 26 to 29 days like clockwork.  Per opk, o date would have been cycle day 12 so only 3 days different than going by my lmp. They will only change edd if it's greater than or less than 5 days either way.

I think I mis-posted. My faint positive would have been at 2w6d. I got a definite light pis it I've about 6 days prior to missed period.

  • With DS, I got annoyed that they kept trying to go by my LMP instead of the day I knew I O’d because I track and had my charts to prove it. So I eventually just changed my LMP date to get it to line up with my actual due date. And now I realize that was dumb in my case since I O early and them going by LMP actually gives me 3-4 more days before they consider me “over due”, which makes a big difference at the end.

So this time I’m not even fighting them on it. I know my ultrasounds will like up with my date (like they did last time), but I’m going to let them write my EDD based on my LMP so that I have those few extra days at the end in case I go over.

If I O’d late though, I would for sure change my LMP or dig my heels in with my charts so my EDD was correct, because in that case, you are loosing valuable days at the end that can make a difference if your doctor considers you “over due”
  • Morning sickness hit like a ton of bricks. I was up every 3 hours crazy nauseated or throwing up. I also have awfully sore nipple which is making it much harder to nurse as well, but we are trying to power through.
  • I made the mistake of thinking I didn't feel that bad this morning. About halfway through my shower I dry heaved so hard and had nothing to actually throw up. DH is a saint and brought me some graham crackers and OJ as soon as I got out. 4 weeks is starting out with a bang this morning.  To top it off, a different nurse is sitting by me today who doesn't know I'm pregnant yet. So if I run gagging to the bathroom that will be a dead give away. Yay! :)

Part of me is happy for the symptoms but I felt so awful during pretty much my entire last pregnancy, so I'm a little bummed to have MS so early. Alright my pity party is done now.

  • Most likely psychosomatic, but definitely having some nausea this morning!
I've had really bad heartburn for the past two days as well, that my usual meds aren't helping me with.
And other than that, just some faint cramping that's totally different than anything else I've felt before!

  • @Dashaina hey - could you rename this to "Weekly Symptoms w/o Oct 7"? I think a lot of people are still using the old one because they think this one was only for Saturday. :)
  • Well, threw up my entire breakfast this morning. So it looks like that is a thing now. Secretly excited, secretly dreading breakfast for the next couple of weeks. With DD I ONLY threw up in the morning, looks like this pregnancy is following in those footsteps..
  • @doxiemoxie212 on it girl! Sorry about that.

  • My only symptom right now is crushing fatigue. I was lucky that I was on summer break during my first trimester of my last pregnancy, so I legitimately slept 14+ hours per day. Not sure how I'm gonna survive this time, unless I start napping under my desk in my office...

  • My newest symptom that I was trying to psych myself out of...queasy. I am trying to cook dinner (vegetarian pad Thai with macaroni noodles instead of rice noodles) and the smell isn't bothering me.. But I have this under current of queasy feeling... Bleh.
Lilypie Pregnancy tickersLilypie Kids Birthday tickersLilypie Kids Birthday tickers
  • @bkrahn I was secretly hoping to avoid queasy all day feeling like I had with DD2... But like you it kinda makes me feel a bit more secure that it seems to be similar. I am a bit jealous of you knowing roughly when to expect it though.. Lol. For me it just comes on seems to be happening only in the afternoon so far but anytime after noon. Fx. Lmao
Lilypie Pregnancy tickersLilypie Kids Birthday tickersLilypie Kids Birthday tickers
  • @Dashaina oh, I definitely get queasy in the afternoon/evening too! It just never results to throwing up, like in the morning. Hoping yours can figure itself out!
  • Guess I can add queasy and vomiting to the list now. Can we also talk about how difficult it is to cook dinner for LO while having serious food aversions. :s Sorry kid looks like french fries and yogurt for dinner tonight. Really happy MIL had him this afternoon so I know he ate really well all day.
  • Hi! It's 2:50 am. I cannot sleep....seems I struggle to fall asleep, and then I wake up a bunch from tossing and turning or to pee. This has been going on about a week or maybe a bit more. My only other symptom is slightly tender boobs, and I'm a bit moody. Hoping I don't get any MS, but I think it's too early for that anyway (I'm only 4w6d) ok, hoping to fall back to sleep!
  •  I planned way too much this week and had a full on emotional meltdown yesterday because I was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed, plus exhausted plus nauseous made for a really fun emotional day.

One of the first symptoms that always shows its ugly face for me is constipation. I need to talk to Midwife about something I can safely use, this is already miserable.

  • I can add nausea all day to the list, along with peeing way too much.
Woke up twice last night to pee. I usually have an amazing bladder and only go a few times a day.
    That's out the window now.

  • @morristhecatmom I had a full meltdown the other day too from being overwhelmed, and being nauseous on top of everything really does not help any. Hope today is a better day for you. I don't want to come off as a nag (I also don't know your situation) but remember it's okay to remove yourself from a situation and breathe for a minute if needed. It took me waaaay too long to learn how to do that.

  • @bearmoons, that was me exactly last night woke up early for the 3rd night in a row to pee. But this time I had some bad period like cramping, and all the BSC anxiety thoughts happened. I rolled over, and a minute later the disappeared. So maybe just gas? Sheesh.

Literally all day Monday & Tuesday my abs were sore, and not just the lower abs upper too. I walked on Sunday at the gym. I googled it and it said to rest (shrugs) so I didn't do my morning pregnancy walk again until yesterday (Wednesday).

  • @icecubeinthedesert Mine haven't been what I would call sore, but they're definitely tender.  Mostly around my bellybutton when I stretch.  I had laparoscopic surgery a few months ago and I thought maybe my bellybutton incision was just tender but it definitely feels more muscular.  It's weird that it's so high up.
