Hello! I'm a third time mom, EDD is June 12. I'm cautiously optimistic and felt like I needed a spot where I could talk about this before I'm ready to share with people IRL. My DD is 4 and my DS is 2.5.
We had been TTC for 16 months and got our BFP this morning (October 2). I'm 32, my husband is 34. We live in a small town in the Midwest. I mainly stay home with the kids but I run a postpartum doula business that's about 3 years old.
I'm also a plus size mom and have been with my previous two pregnancies. I didn't have any health issues, but dealt with some provider issues because of it with my first. I'm hoping overall to focus on a healthier pregnancy this time, in hopes for a healthier postpartum.
Hi guys. Cautiously joining in here. I just got a BFP at 10dpo. Due June 13. *TW* I have two LO (not so little anymore) and two losses. One being stillbirth. My last loss was just a few months ago, a late first trimester loss. So when I say I’m cautiously joining I all out sobbed at my bfp because I am just so scared. So scared. *END TW* Ive lurked these boards for years but never joined in! Hoping this will be my outlet as I’m not planning to tell anyone for quite awhile! First timer here! Estimated due date is June 8th and got a positive result just yesterday. I am going to test a few more times over the next few days as I have had 2 losses early on (1 at 10 weeks last year and 1 at 6 weeks 2 months ago). We have been trying for 3 years and so I am VERY nervous we will be disappointed once again.

We've been together nine years and married four years, and we are both currently 32 years old. BFP was September 29 (the day after my 32 birthday!!) and EDD is June 4, 2018, based off my LMP. Haven't been to the doctor yet, but have my first appointment on October 12! I live in Atlanta, and I'm a writer for Romper as well as work at a holistic and healthy pet food store in my neighborhood. Looking forward to meeting and getting to know y'all! Hi ladies, I'm new to the bump and am excited to get to know some of you. I also waited not too patiently for this board to open, got my BFP at only 9dpo which was on Sept 20th and have waited for this board ever since. I am 4 weeks and 4 days based on LMP and I think I'm about 5 weeks based on ovulation date, I'm going with the 4w4d until I have my first appointment in a few weeks. I am 33, DH is 37, I have one child from a previous marriage who is 11 and no other babies or pregnancies until now and my DH has 3 children from a previous marriage as well so we are a big family! I am feeling mostly normal so far other than some fatigue and very mild transient nausea so far. I threw up every morning like clock-work with my daughter starting around 5 weeks until 17 weeks so we will see if I am "blessed" with morning sickness again. Congrats to all of you ladies!
Hi everyone. I started feeling car sick in the back of an Uber today. That was the first symptom from my last pregnancy. Took a test and here I am.
My EDD is 6/13. We have a beautiful daughter who will be 15 months in a few days. We are in Boston. While we were trying, it took over a year and an IUI to conceive our first. We pulled the goalie for the first time this month, fully thinking we would be back with the RE.
I'm a bit in shock. Things are really up in the air at work. I might not have a job for much longer. I found out right st the start of my TWW. Feeling a little shell shocked. Trying to look at this from the long term and what we want our family to look like. The rest should iron itself out.
I suppose I'll intro and keep my FX. I got a very faint BFP (very squinty but I'm pretty certain it's there) and am about 8 days from missed period. This will be my 2nd pregnancy. Due date should be 6/19 based on LMP. I have a DD who's 3 and keep in touch with several of the ladies from my O'14 board.
I plan to retest in a few days to hopefully see a more definite positive. Can't wait to get to know you ladies a little more!

Then I would find a new doctor. I have been trying for nearly 16 months and have had quite a few months with all of the symptoms but no positive test. Progesterone is the dominant hormone after you ovulate and it is what causes both the PG and the PMS symptoms. If you are not PG, the progesterone drops and you get your period. If you are PG then the progesterone continues to rise. Either way, that is the hormone responsible for all those symptoms in the TWW and also early pregnancy. This site is very science minded and as I stated above, if you didn't get a positive test than you were not pregnant! Not to mention, it's a little insensitive to ladies on this board who have suffered a confirmed loss.

You guys, please be kind. Not everyone is science minded nor understands the hormonal processes that take place for pregnancy to happen. Her provider could have mentioned a chemical pregnancy and given her further information but she misunderstood what the provider meant. As a lay person it is easy to misunderstand what doctors mean/say. Yes it takes a positive test to confirm a pregnancy but give her some grace. Sincerely a former women's health nurse.
@misskittydanger ~ the other ladies are correct. If the egg didn’t implant (even if it got fertilized) you were not pregnant. Your symptoms were PMS symptoms. In order to have pregnancy symptoms, you have to be pregnant - pregnancy symptoms are caused by pregnancy hormones which are only actually present if you are pregnant. And if you are pregnant enough to have pregnancy symptoms, you are pregnant enough to turn a pregnancy test. If not, you aren’t pregnant and you are experiencing PMS symptoms. I would be highly suspicious of any doctor who would actually tell you that you were pregnant, that it just didn’t implant - because without implantation, you aren’t pregnant.
Anywasy! Congratulations on this pregnancy and welcome. But like others have said, some (actually a lot) of us here have actually been pregnant (confirmed by positive pregnancy test, blood tests and/or ultrasounds) and have experienced actual losses. So please tread lightly when saying you have, when you haven’t.

TB is still just a public forum and while claiming it s a science minded community, I have seen plenty of very inaccurate information given to people. I don't think OP was trying to hurt people who have experienced loss or infertility. Yes she needs to be educated but not bombarded by paragraphs of snark.

The reason why I spoke with my dr about this was because I wanted to know what was going on. I have dealt with my dr for many years, and she has zero reason to lie to me.
I went in to see her in August with strong symptoms but no positive test. She requested I wait a week and return. The day I was to return - but wasn't going to because I got my period - she ended up calling to see what time I'd be in. During our conversation there were a few things she asked and said - exactly - without doing blood work before and after to see the hormone level , best she could figure was that it conceived and I am just sensitive to things reacting with my body. She also anticipated me being part of a relatively small percentage of women who never receive a positive test because HcG levels never get to that point.
I understand people's questioning about this, but 100% this is a thing and I am not being rude but please look it up before saying I'm wrong. I would never have thought of this being a thing until experiencing it, and would have 100% been the same as many of you.

What myself and others are saying is that: 1. Unless you had it confirmed by a pregnancy test (either HPT or blood draw), you were not pregnant. 2. Saying that you were pregnant without a confirmed test (see above) is insensitive to those ladies on here who have dealt with a confirmed loss either by ultrasound or blood draw showing decreasing HCG 3. Again, I have had many cycles where I had what I swore were early pregnancy symptoms but they were just PMS symptoms. A lot of the symptoms of both are the same because they are ruled by the same hormone: progesterone.
So again, I'm not trying to be mean just educate you on why I jumped in here in the first place. I rarely lurk BMBs because after over a year of trying with no success it hurts to see all of these people who are getting their babies while I still have an empty uterus.

Hi all, brand new here. I'm 31. I got my BFP last week. I lost count how many tests I've taken at home. I am so very excited but also extremely scared. My marriage took a turn after trying for 10 years and failing. So much has happened in the past 2 years it's overwhelming. My marriage/relationship of 15 years came to a painful end and I eventually found someone wonderful who understands the loss of a relationship and fertility issues. I just moved to Milwaukee, WI after spending my entire life in Delaware. I had great insurance back home and a fantastic group of doctors. I was not expecting this absolute miracle---so I am in a mad rush to find a doctor ASAP. I am just learning about the area and now I have to find all new doctors----eeeegads. My estimated delivery date right now is 5/31, but I know it will be June! My boyfriend is 38 and is over the moon with the news even though we're smack dab in the middle of renovations. He and his ex-wife had issues with fertility for several years and were eventually blessed with a beautiful little girl.
I don't know anyone in my area--all of my friends are back home and home feels light years away. I am thankful to have found these boards. I am scared to death of every cramp, every toot (lol), every muscle ache, etc. Every time I have to pee (and boy is it frequent) I have a heart attack I will get to the bathroom and see blood. I cannot wait to get in to see a doctor--and hope I will be able to travel this journey with all of you!

@MissKittyDanger I'm really glad you got a BFP this cycle. There is a wide range of "normal" for hCG, but it's clear that you able to produce enough hCG to turn a test, as you did this cycle.
TW re loss - I am not saying this because I am annoyed or mad at you personally, but it is a major pet peeve of mine when people (including doctors) perpetuate wrong information regarding miscarriage. As others have said, until you have a positive HPT (or hCG blood test) you are not pregnant. It is not until after implantation occurs that your body starts to produce hCG which is detectable either via HPT or a blood draw. Even the cheap HPTs can detect very low levels of hCG. For example, with my CP I had positives on HPTs when it turned out my beta was only about 17, so if you got negative tests, you were not pregnant, you had PMS. Without getting into the somewhat gruesome details, I had a well respected and well trained OBGYN miscategorize my first loss when discussing it with me. Just because a dr says something, doesn't mean it's true. In your case I honestly would consider finding a new dr because your current one lacks a basic understanding of how pregnancy works. end TW.
Hey all! I am a STM. After spending most of my life in Chicago and Milwaukee, I now live with DH and DD outside of Columbus OH. DD will be 17 months in a few days and I was mostly just a lurker on when I was pregnant with her, so I hope to participate more this time. I am 30 and DH is 34 and we are both still kind of in shock that this is happening as we hadn't planned on TTC until early next year. EDD based on LMP is 6/7/18. My early symptoms this go round are identical to last time, crazy dizziness and absolutely hating the smell of meat...and if I thought the fatigue was fun last time I can't wait to see what it will be like now juggling a full time job and chasing a toddler. Looking forward to getting to know all of you ladies in the upcoming months!

@missylaneous419 My parents are from and in Glendale, WI and I have spent MANY winters visiting them prior to moving to Panama. As far as your story... It reminds me of a friend of mine. Very similar relationship sitch AND TTC journey. Long story short.. She is expecting her first child (tried and failed for 7 years with ex) in a few short weeks with her new (married last November) supportive spouse. So I know there is hope at the end of your rainbow. I can relate to the symptoms over analysis for sure! Me!

This is my second LO as I have a beautiful toddler, and this is also a rainbow baby after close to a year TTC and two early losses. Basically... I am very happy to be here and determined to stay It's blowing my mind already how different pregnancies are even this early on. With my son I didn't test positive until around 6 weeks and found out through an ultrasound, this little nugget has had be having symptoms for a week and a half with a faint positive 4 days before MP and a solid positive just one day later at 3 days before. IT'S NUTS!!!! Anyway, amid the excitement (and let's be real... fear) of it all, I just wanted to introduce myself and say congratulations to all you ladies!

*TW* I have two LO (not so little anymore) and two losses. One being stillbirth. My last loss was just a few months ago, a late first trimester loss. So when I say I’m cautiously joining I all out sobbed at my bfp because I am just so scared. So scared.

Very nervous and frightened by this pregnancy. I have no symptoms. Last time at 5 weeks I was throwing up and felt terrible.

My EDD is 6/13. We have a beautiful daughter who will be 15 months in a few days. We are in Boston. While we were trying, it took over a year and an IUI to conceive our first. We pulled the goalie for the first time this month, fully thinking we would be back with the RE.
I'm a bit in shock. Things are really up in the air at work. I might not have a job for much longer. I found out right st the start of my TWW. Feeling a little shell shocked. Trying to look at this from the long term and what we want our family to look like. The rest should iron itself out.
I plan to retest in a few days to hopefully see a more definite positive. Can't wait to get to know you ladies a little more!

- We were TTC since July {2017} and I was technically pregnant in August, but it didn't implant. All the symptoms but no positive test.
A week before taking test, I had symptoms but didn't wanna get hopes up. Took test earliest day I could {according to clearblue site} and it was a strong, but faint positive
First dr's appt to tell her and see what's next step. I am FTM, so bare with me if I freak out over strange things lmao!! Google is not my friend
(Consistent) Symptoms
- boobs grew
- craving dairy and salty foods
- no food aversions but anything strong scent makes me gag

I'm sorry but if you didn't get a positive test, then you were not pregnant. A lot of the symptoms that you get in early pregnancy are the same as PMS symptoms and the implanting of the embryo keeps the hormone progesterone elevated beyond the normal 2 weeks, which is what causes the aforementioned PG/PMS symptoms.

She's pretty sure - only thing that would confirm would have been a blood test before and after - but basically it was conceived but never implanted, hence the negative test.

But like others have said, some (actually a lot) of us here have actually been pregnant (confirmed by positive pregnancy test, blood tests and/or ultrasounds) and have experienced actual losses. So please tread lightly when saying you have, when you haven’t.

If you thought those comments were snark, you're in for a long ride.
I went in to see her in August with strong symptoms but no positive test. She requested I wait a week and return. The day I was to return - but wasn't going to because I got my period - she ended up calling to see what time I'd be in.
During our conversation there were a few things she asked and said - exactly - without doing blood work before and after to see the hormone level , best she could figure was that it conceived and I am just sensitive to things reacting with my body.
She also anticipated me being part of a relatively small percentage of women who never receive a positive test because HcG levels never get to that point.
I understand people's questioning about this, but 100% this is a thing and I am not being rude but please look it up before saying I'm wrong. I would never have thought of this being a thing until experiencing it, and would have 100% been the same as many of you.
1. Unless you had it confirmed by a pregnancy test (either HPT or blood draw), you were not pregnant.
2. Saying that you were pregnant without a confirmed test (see above) is insensitive to those ladies on here who have dealt with a confirmed loss either by ultrasound or blood draw showing decreasing HCG
3. Again, I have had many cycles where I had what I swore were early pregnancy symptoms but they were just PMS symptoms. A lot of the symptoms of both are the same because they are ruled by the same hormone: progesterone.
So again, I'm not trying to be mean just educate you on why I jumped in here in the first place. I rarely lurk BMBs because after over a year of trying with no success it hurts to see all of these people who are getting their babies while I still have an empty uterus.

My boyfriend is 38 and is over the moon with the news even though we're smack dab in the middle of renovations. He and his ex-wife had issues with fertility for several years and were eventually blessed with a beautiful little girl.
I don't know anyone in my area--all of my friends are back home and home feels light years away. I am thankful to have found these boards. I am scared to death of every cramp, every toot (lol), every muscle ache, etc. Every time I have to pee (and boy is it frequent) I have a heart attack I will get to the bathroom and see blood. I cannot wait to get in to see a doctor--and hope I will be able to travel this journey with all of you!

@MissKittyDanger I'm really glad you got a BFP this cycle. There is a wide range of "normal" for hCG, but it's clear that you able to produce enough hCG to turn a test, as you did this cycle.
TW re loss - I am not saying this because I am annoyed or mad at you personally, but it is a major pet peeve of mine when people (including doctors) perpetuate wrong information regarding miscarriage. As others have said, until you have a positive HPT (or hCG blood test) you are not pregnant. It is not until after implantation occurs that your body starts to produce hCG which is detectable either via HPT or a blood draw. Even the cheap HPTs can detect very low levels of hCG. For example, with my CP I had positives on HPTs when it turned out my beta was only about 17, so if you got negative tests, you were not pregnant, you had PMS. Without getting into the somewhat gruesome details, I had a well respected and well trained OBGYN miscategorize my first loss when discussing it with me. Just because a dr says something, doesn't mean it's true. In your case I honestly would consider finding a new dr because your current one lacks a basic understanding of how pregnancy works. end TW.
