I think the ultrasound tech knows a lot more about it than I do. I'd listen to her.

Just fyi these posts don't go over too well. Once you know the gender for sure you can post it in the boy/girl thread. Or there's other websites where people can post ultrasounds and people can guess. Good luck you'll know soon if she was right!

How far are you?  Usually it's pretty difficult for techs to tell until around 16 weeks, where they can start guessing.  I mean, that screams boy to me, having worked alongside US techs and seeing it all the time though I don't see the other leg outstretched.  US's are also very "tech dependent."  Sometimes, they can make things "appear" to be something else when it's not really there.  But still, lol...a definite answer will come soon.

You should also read about the genital tubercule (nub) until week 14-16 it's external for both sex so it means absolutely nothing. The angle can be an indication but before 16 weeks only a blood test can tell you.

Definitely this. My sister had an ultrasound at 14 weeks where she was told definitively she was having fraternal M/F twins. Nope! Identical twin girls.

At my 12 week mfm ultrasound with my first pregnancy they were fairly certain he was a boy and he is! We waited until the 20 wk ultrasound to tell people the sex.

@linsye talk about someone who is useless at their job.  How do you confuse fraternal twins with identical ones?  It sounds like there could have been a goldfish in there and she would have said "oh what a beautiful baby!".

I didn't know much about it but apparently it was difficult to tell whether it was one or two sacs early in pregnancy. She saw a regular OB and a specialist throughout her pregnancy so I'm assuming she got decent care, but yeah it seems pretty crazy to me too.

I think I'm not an u/s tech nor a doctor. So my thoughts will be pretty useless to you.

And +1 to ultrasounds not being able to tell you the gender.

The only way to definitely tell whether twins are identical or fraternal is through DNA zygosity testing.  The only thing they can "tell" on ultrasound is how many placentas are present, and how many amniotic sacs (mo/mo, mo/di or di/di) It is largely believed that mo/di are identical and di/di is fraternal, but depending on when the eggs split and/or implant, it is totally possible to have identical di/di twins and fraternal twins that have a fused placenta, making them mo/di.  So the US tech probably saw two placentas and said they are fraternal, but it's possible the egg split early, giving them two placentas.
Also, OP, why are you flashing pictures of your child's genitals on the internet?  Ew.
