How long did it take for your body to get back on track after BC?? Please help!!

Hey guys!

I've been lurking around here for a little while now.  I stopped taking BC on AUG 06.  My first day without the pill was AUG 07. I stopped at the beginning of week 2 of my 3 week pack.  About a week after I stopped taking the pill, I had my first withdrawal bleed.  Since then, I've been temping, charting, using OPK's and BDing.  I reached "peak" fertility using a CB advanced OPK on SEP 12.  BUT, I started spotting the days following this.  The spotting was not quite as heavy as AF, but it was heavier than what I'd normally consider spotting.  Since that time, I've had some normal days, and some days with spotting.  I am about 6 weeks post BC pill.  I started spotting/possible AF today.

My question for all you lovely ladies is how long did it take for you to get your groove back after the BC pill?  I've heard it can take a couple of months for your body to even start to O again.  I'm just wondering if there is something up with me, or if this is par for the course.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It takes some people a very long time to get back on track whereas others get back on track right away. Unfortunately there's no way to know what your body will do since everyone is different. Please get involved in the daily threads where it would have been a good place to ask this question and learn from other ladies here.

@josteele91 unfortunately we can't tell you if something is up with you/what's going on with your bod.  I will say that 6 weeks (in my personal experience) is a pretty short amount of time in the world of coming off bc/hormonal regulation.  I'd give yourself at least 3 months to 'get your groove back.'  I feel I'm just finally working at my normal after coming off bcp a year ago. We're all different!

If you were really lurking, you'd know this post doesn't need its own thread, and that the best place for it is where you already asked a few days ago: the CS/Q thread.

It doesn't matter how long it takes one person's body to regulate after coming off BC. Your body is not their's.

@josteele91 like the others have said, everyone is different and since you've been on the pill you don't really know what 'normal' is for a while. This group isn't a big fan of one-off posts but it's a good question for the WTO/ TWW daily theads.

In 2.5 years my cycles never returned to my normal pre-BCP cycles. That's super helpful, right?

With my first time off bc (4 yrs ago), my cycles were 40 days. Now they've been 33 and both were "normal" right away.

@josteele91 To answer your question, it's different for everyone. The general rule of thumb is to talk to your doctor if you don't get a positive test or your period after 60 days. Until then, just keep tracking because the more data you have the better.

But I also want to acknowledge your graceful apology over having made a mistake in TTC board etiquette. If you've lurked for any amount of time, you'll know that a lot of people freak the eff out when called out on a breach of etiquette. A sincere apology (plus bonus GIF) is a great way to make amends and start over.

Also, you have a strong GIF game. I hope you'll stick around, introduce yourself in the newbie thread, and have a short and happy stay here.

@MLS6212 no worries, I just had known because I vaguely recalled seeing the username a few times recently Also I'm a chronic history looker-upper cause I once told a newbie to intro who already did and then I felt like a jerk lol.  Plus for drive-bys sometimes you get GOLD from their history
