@tamalahoops I find it super weird! That wasn't a function the first time I was on TB.
My UO - I dont subscribe to the thought of "well it was safe for us ... I turned out fine ... Susie's baby used that product and had no issues" when it comes to the safety of products or foods. We have more knowledge now than we did 5, 10, 30 years ago, why be ignorant about it?
Agreeing with both @lalala2004 and @tamalahoops. I used way too many gifs for like a week, and then shit went crazy. And I hate having to open spoilers for every response because they're gifs.
Onions are gross. Tomatoes are the best. You should taste food before adding salt/pepper.
On the gif thing, I just feel like they have a lot of time on their hands. Whenever I want to gif it takes me like 10 minutes to find one I think is even halfway good...
I will say that even with the spoiler boxes a ton of GIFs make mobile Bumping even harder than it already is. Repeatedly scrolling past all of them is a pain.
I definitely am one to over gif lol. I usually do them when I have more time on my hands, or if it gets the point across more accurately. It's hard to "sarcasm" on the internet, so sometimes gifs relay your tone better. I prefer someone over use gifs/"try too hard" than not try at all My UO, I also over use emojis - again to relay tone - and give 0 F's if I look like a wacko because of it
ETA: WORDS! and tag @izza2 - Raw onions are gross - cooked they're not bad. Raw tomatoes are gross - again, cooked they're not bad. And MH is notorious for adding hot sauce to food before tasting which drives me up a wall

@lurvleybunchococonuts Yes! I way overuse emojis too--in email, in text, on the bump...everywhere!
Aaaand I've been putting my gifs in spoilers because I thought some people were annoyed by them. Maybe @lalala2004 was referring to me about the newbie gif-ing too much? Oops. And yes, I do have too much time on my hands. DH is playing a lot of video games and I have nothing better to do in the evening. I'll cool it on the gifs though since it seems a lot of people don't like them!
On that topic, my UO is that I actually like that DH plays video games. It gives me some alone time in the evenings.
I wasn't trying to call out anyone in particular. It was just something I noticed with a lot of new members lately. I think GIFs are great if the moment calls for them, but sometimes people throw in a GIF that barely makes sense, and that's trying too hard.
I hate summer and heat and an glad it is coming to an end. And I don't mind funny gifs, but I never add them, and loathe when a GTKY asks for them. I am only ever on mobile though, so I would probably feel different if using a PC.
@lurvleybunchococonuts I'm with you! I bought my DH a video game system when we were newlyweds so he'd stop waking me up so early on the weekends. I love when he plays...he's happy and I get some me time
I hate helicopter parents. You may as well grind a brick up my backside when you tell me - with a big, unapologetic smile on your face - "I am SUCH a helicopter parent, haha!" NO. It's not funny. I work with college students whose parents fill out their housing applications, manage their time for them, speak on their behalf, and hang on to critical ID and keep it at their houses (such as social security cards and passports).
The result? They can't think for themselves. They need a ton of hand-holding. I have to ask targeted questions to get them to think things out on their own and I have to tell them "no" a lot. Then their parents call me and try to fix it. No, Kathleen, I cannot move your son from his room because YOU doesn't like his roommate.
Not all students/parents are like this but it raises my hackles when I encounter this and it makes me crazy.
And don't get me started on how I feel about "lawnmower" parents. If you've never heard this term, look it up. *shudder* We need to put independence back in its number 1 spot where it belongs, folks!!
@wishiwaspreggo Yes! At one college I worked at, we created different categories for helicopter parents. The news helicopters weren't too bad (just hover to get info on their students lives), but the black hawk were the worst.
My pretty random UOs for today: Golf is a completely pointless game. Multimedia art installations (i.e., ones with visuals + sound and/or video) are nearly always awful and incomprehensible, and I think most of the viewers are only pretending that they like them/understand them.
*snip* @izza2 - Raw onions are gross - cooked they're not bad. Raw tomatoes are gross - again, cooked they're not bad. And MH is notorious for adding hot sauce to food before tasting which drives me up a wall
I also over-use emojis, but more-so on texts because sometimes I don't remember what the faces I want to add are called on TB, lmao.
@wishiwaspreggo - Did a quick read on lawn mower parents, and holy wow that's go way above and beyond! I thought helicopter parents were bad... I mean, I get wanting the best for your kids, but come on... Give them the opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them - or better yet, just think for themselves on occasion.
@izza2 Growing up, I had a babysitter who would eat onions raw with a little lemon herb sprinkled on top!
@offtoneverland I'm an emoji lover too! (On TB and on Text )
@canucklehead123 Uggs are pretty awesome! I live in a warmer climate now, but I still wear ugg slippers around the house because they are so comfy.
AFM: I'm not sure if this is more of an UO or FFFC, but I'm not a fan of beer. . Give me wine or a margarita or other drink any day, but I'm not a big fan of most beers.
@dukestar5, I think beer is nasty. If, I had to have one because I am dying of thirst, Stella Artois is tolerable. I stated last week, I have a few wines that I really like, but otherwise not a big wine drinker either. Margaritas though, I can drink me some margaritas. Right now, I am enjoying a martini and just opened a bottle of Muscadine wine.
+1 gifs +1 emojis +1 for onions cooked, not raw +1 tomatoes, in any form -1 for video games +1 for not summer. I don't hate it but I prefer fall +1 uggs +1 golf +1 for beer, all the beer (apparently I am for almost everything that ya'll are against)
AFM back in the day I liked Christina better than Britney and BSB better than N*SYNC.

@krashke You take that back! Nsync is soooo much better than BSB. I saw BSB in Vegas a few months ago and the whole time I kind of just wished it was Nsync instead (it was a really great concert though). @lalala2004 I didn't think you were trying to call me out, I just thought it was funny since I've definitely increased my gif usage lately, so I wondered if I was partly to blame. @dukestar5 I never liked beer until DH started homebrewing. Now I like all kinds of beer. When there's a seemingly endless supply of alcohol in the house, you gotta teach yourself to like it.
@offtoneverland ah friends of mine went to see BSB in Vegas and I was sooo envious!! They were my first loves -- but N*SYNC would have been good in concert too...um Justin, yes please!
@canucklehead123 - I can't stand Uggs. It comes from my college days when everyone was wearing them and they all shuffled their feet while they walk. Omg, it irritated me so much. To be fair, not picking your feet up while you walk and making that scuffing sound is a pet peeve of mine (no matter the shoe), but it seems like all Ugg wearers are guilty of it.

Married 12/2016 DSS born 01/2016 TTC since 01/2017 Letrozole + TI = BFP 01/30/2018 | EDD 10/11/2018
@canucklehead123 the Uggs as workplace appropriate made me LOL. I used to do it at my old job all the time with my fake uggs. It was always cold. Now at my new job where we don't have a dress code I never wear them.
@darkstar42 - I love that you had different categories of helicopter parents! Too funny! Most of mine are the news helicopters, too, but I had a black hawk I wanted to shoot down :P crazy woman called me every day for a month to ensure her special snowflake son was perfectly comfortable. Then he dropped out.
@izza2 - what surprises me about lawnmower parents is that most of them are youngish parents. You'd think with all we've learned about the detriments of doing everything/removing all obstacles for children you'd do everything you could to stop it... Lawnmowers follow my kid around at the park! It drives me nuts! I don't help my son climb on bars or walls. If he cries, I wait 5-10 seconds to see if he'll figure it out first before I swoop in. I was doing my pause thing while he was hanging about 2 inches off the ground and some asshole picked him up and set him down before my predetermined "let him figure it out first" time allotment. Then he had the nerve to give me the "you're a shitty mom" look. Even if my son let go before I could catch him he'd land on his feet. Lesson learned: It's not so scary! Yay! Another step towards independence!
Oh, and I'll put my son in his car seat in the winter before I'll put my cart in the corral so he can stay warm. Inevitably I'll come back to my car and find someone hovering around peeking in the window at my kid. For God's sake, it's never more than 1 minute before I get back to the car. The doors are locked. He's not getting frost bite. Everything is fine. This surveillance culture we've got going on is killing me. I'm more afraid of some vigilante calling CPS on me and having someone legally kidnap my son and put him in a terrifying state home than I am of him actually getting harmed by doing what used to be normal kid things.
@pebbledam fair point!! And even back in highschool where the uggs would be all wet and trashed, plus the shuffle, EW!! @nimmle I should say, I think they are only appropriate on cold days! But my boss wears Crocs to work all the time so I feel like I'm off the hook for the uggs! Although I saw a really cute pair of healed Ugg boots (they had some more style than the traditional ugg) and they were 100% workplace appro.
