I've lurked for a few days and read as many threads as I could. I tried to memorize the abbreviations and when to ask what, but I'm seriously lost. If this post is annoying or redundant, I really do apologize. My husband even discouraged me from getting on forums, but I need a community.
(TW) Full transparency: I have two, healthy children. It took no effort to create them. Now it's a few years later and we're trying for a third. It's been over a year and nothing is happening. I'm older than I was, so there's that. We've also had a few changes in insurance and had to switch doctors a few times and each time we start over from scratch. They all want their own tests, their own ultrasounds, and then say basically the same thing "give it a year, percentages this, IVF at your age that.."
So I downloaded a few apps and everything is just confusing as hell. My head is spinning, which is probably making everything worse. I haven't gotten a referral for a fertility specialist because of the endless insurance rules that would make it cost prohibitive until we get past the end of this year, IF we 're not pregnant before then and IF the next contract negotiation doesn't throw everything into a tailspin yet again.
Where did you all begin? I'm trying to track my cycle, but taking my temp the same time every morning before I've gotten out of bed is near impossible when young children are up at 5 and 6. My cycle averages 30-31 days but I don't get even a faint line on an ovulation test until day 19-20, which seems crazy to me. I'm frustrated if that's not obvious. Any tried and true advice would be warmly welcomed.

Hi. Sorry you are struggling. Please read the ****READ THIS FIRST***** thread at the very top its entirety. It will explain so much. TW is trigger warning. Please edit your post and place it before & after discussing children, pregnancy, and loss. Also, you should introduce yourself on the Newbie tread best of luck *TW*
Many women here are also struggling or have struggled for a very, very long time to get &stay pregnant. Saying that it took you no effort to get pregnant may be pretty hurtful to some.
There is also a weekly TFAS (trying for a sibling) thread. If you are in two week wait or waiting to ovulate, you can post in those dailies. We just ask that you be sensitive to those of us members who are still childless and not go out of your way to mention your existing children unless it makes sense or is necessary for the content/context of your update. To be honest, it can be hard to read that kind of thing in a forun like this, even with a "TW".
Sorry, that you are struggling for your child this time, and that you feel pressed to wait the full year. Without knowing your age or how long you've been trying, I can't say if it may be time to press for some preliminary testing. However I assure you, a 30-31 day cycle with ovulation around that time for a 10 or 11 day L.P. could be absolutely totally NORMAL. :) so please try not to worry too soon, if that's really the case.
Please reintro on the newbie thread and join us in the dailies and/or TFAS. Welcome and GL!! *typo
I have a similar issue with taking my temperature at the same time every morning. Are your little ones sleeping through the night yet? If so, I'd recommend setting an alarm for about 4:30am (if they wake up at 5am) to take your temperature, then go back to sleep. It's especially helpful if you have a basal body thermometer that saves previous temperatures so you don't have to bother with recording it immediately. If they're not sleeping through the night (like mine) just try to do it before you get up for the day; that's what I do. Sometimes it means I've been asleep for three hours, sometimes it means I've been asleep for 30 minutes, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
As for the late ovulation, that's not necessarily a deal-breaker. I was tracking my temperatures when I got pregnant (first cycle) with my son and the Fertility Friend app indicated that I ovulated at cycle day 22. This time I'm trying for our second child and the first cycle indicated again that I ovulated on cycle day 22. My period came on cycle day 34, which indicates a 12 day luteal phase. The concern comes when a luteal phase is shorter than 10 days, as it can prevent implantation from happening. Track your temperatures as best as you can, get to know your cervix, and use ovulation detection kits if you feel so inclined to do so. This information will be useful to know when to have sex for conception, or if you need to see a medical professional for further guidance.
Best of luck to you!
