Gender reveal thoughts?

Re: Gender reveal thoughts?

  • @babyjjl2018 so lucky to have a God parent with a catering and decorating company! Not sure who will be our little ones God parents but I wish I knew a lovely baker friend so I could get cupcakes! Hope your gender reveAl goes to plan! I am sure my baby is a boy but don't know why! I just really have a feeling!

@knottiemorris Yes, it is, which is why i was ok with her handling everything to make it a great event. Actually she doesn't know but her and her husband will be asked at the gender reveal to be my little ones God parent. She has been there for me when i was at my lowest points and when i had my first miscarriage, so I know that mu kiddo will be in good hands.

I believe this is going to be a little girl, so i know the feeling. I keep dreaming abut her. I always wanted a boy first, but idk a little princess would be kinda of nice lol

Im trying to come up with a creative way to ask her an her husband to be my little ones God parents.

  • @babyjjl2018, my post above wasn't in response to yours, so please don't think I was questioning your reveal plans. (I see I was named in your response, maybe mistakenly.) I think it all sounds lovely and will be a lot of fun!

  • @PeachGal23
my apologies lol I will edit that post =)
  • @babyjjl2018 My friend throwing it gender reveal is doing much the same for us. She was such a support as we were going through infertility treatments, and she just had a little one 4 months ago that we celebrated to the nines. She keeps calling asking what I prefer on everything because she wants it to be perfect for us, lol. We are pretty laid back and just are happy to have an excuse to have dinner with close friends, but she is as excited about the baby as we are. It is great to have such supportive friends that just want to celebrate with you! Rainbow babies are so special :)! Congrats on yours! I hope they are able to tell the sex at your ultrasound.
  • @ramzlau Thank you for your post. It seemed that others was making it a big deal that my friend wants to plan the party and wanting to pay for it. I am really excited about this baby. I get nervous sometimes bc of the last time. I just pray for this health of my baby and a safe delivery when that time comes. Congrats on your little one as well.  I know you are happy as well =)
  • @babyjjl2018 others weren't making it a big deal. Your initial post about it came off as entitled or tacky. But your friend isn't planning it, you are instructing her on how you want it, correct? And once you gave back story no one else said anything, correct? Also, I asked questions to clarify your post before saying anything, and others waited for your response before commenting so I think "others" handled that pretty well seeing how the bump never does well with things like this.

@babyjjl2018 the bump community can be a little snarky (although this BMB is really tame), it's one of the things I love about it actually, because sometimes you need a little snark (or a lot) when some people think they are the center of the universe. I can see how your first post was misunderstood, but I think you explained it well, and like usual the ladies here were really calm comparitively. I don't usually play the nice side, but I like you:). Stick around and you will see why they react to your post the way they did, there really are some people that are that demanding and controlling. It is funny to watch and gif.

We all get nervous about the baby and wonder if everything will be okay.  For those of us that have experienced a loss, it is a stronger worry.  Totally normal.
And we are all also very excited for our lo, regardless if this is our first,  or we have more.  if we have had losses before or not, of the baby was planned or a surprise.

  • That would be a sweet little way to reveal! I only plan on doing something for the hubby since I will be away visiting family. I'm hoping to have him go to his friends place and it will be decorated with some balloons and streamers. As others have said you definitely have to do you and whatever you're comfortable with.
  • My birthday is on 1st October and was going to pay to find out gender so could have a cake to reveal! But then hospital booked me in for 5th October to find out so for the sake of 4 days am waiting! Hubby's birthday is 18th October so his cake can reveal all! I keep popping on here so can see if anyone has a crazy idea to tell everyone! Here and pinterest! Hypermesis stopping me telling anyone about the baby and enjoying it I would quite like a nice way to tell everyone the gender!!
  • @babyjjl2018 wait....you are choosing to have a gender reveal....you are choosing how it's going down....and you're telling your friend to throw it for you?

@SunflowerMama428  My intention was not to be tacky and entitled. I was excited while i was making the post, so my apologies if the details weren't enough for you and the other members. The way you came off in your line of questioning (quoted above)  didn't feel like a  genuine question. It came off as you being a bit messy as the other bump members started chiming in like yea, i wanna see what she says about this (i pictured Kermit tea sipping). It might not have been your intentions, just like my intentions were not to come of as you stated, tacky and entitled. Even after i clarified my intentions of my initial post did anyone response back? No they didn't. Its like you waited until you saw my comment to another bump member to chime in advising why you ask the questions you asked, but yet it still came off as "I'm going to put her in her place". because of my comment.

I am not here to start any trouble as I didn't joined this community to feel like im going to be ganged up on if i make a post and the post  was not clear enough. I joined bc as FTM who have experienced a loss. I figured i can surround myself with other moms who have been there done that or moms who either have similar stories like mine, i can surround myself and get some positive reinforcement and vibes from as we all are progressing on this wonderful journey to motherhood. Some for the first time others for their 2nd 3rd, etc.
  • @mamaof5already yes the worry is so real, but i just stay calm and chant my montra i made for this pregnancy and that seem to work. Laos reading post from other moms who have the same fear and hearing their stories helps put me a east that this kiddo is coming. So i keep my eye on the prize, seeing that face for the first time.
  • @ramzlau It is what it is lol Cant please everyone, right?

. Wait you drink coffee? OMG I'm so scared to drink anything caffeinated. I miss my Starbucks run ;(  lol
  • @babyjjl2018 Lol I used too! I miss my Starbucks too! I sometimes will have some instant coffee because it is lower in caffeine, and sometimes I just do decaf when I miss the taste, but overall I have been trying to avoid caffeine too. Although they say 1 cup a day is okay, but I am not sure that means 1 cup of Starbucks :)

LOL right! Starbuck coffee is def not a reg ole cup of Joe! Im a gold card member so i have to buy something to keep my status, reg ole vanilla bean frapps for me lol
  • If you google Starbucks and caffeine amount you can learn the amount of caffeine in different drinks and tailor your order to that. I still have Starbucks all the time. :)
  • @babyjjl2018 Yeah don't try to call someone out indirectly.

    I can't even.

ohh never thought to do that...hmmm fall is coming and spicy pumpkin latte sure does sound like #drool
  • Your post just only confirms that your line of question was not genuine. @SunflowerMama428

Why you are being so mean though? like seriously? lol

Its too good of a day for the both of us to be going back and forth over something that was clearly taken out of context. Im a hugger so let virtually hug it oud and agree to disagree, cool?

  • @babyjjl2018 oh that was being mean?

    Sorrynotsorry
  • @mangolia305 I have a close relationship with my friend, she like my sister and she knows how big of a deal this baby is, so when she said tell me what you want and it will be done. I'm like cool!!! She is really one of those friends that is insistent on doing things and there is no saying no to her. So, i left it be bc here would be no convincing her not to. I feel like I was being judged/low key attached bc my friend is offering to throw the gender reveal and asked me what i wanted for it.

Yes, you are correct, there are a great group of women here which is why i joined the community so i can surround myself with people who are on the same journey and i can reach out to when i have questions, which have been very helpful thus far.

. Wait you drink coffee? OMG I'm so scared to drink anything caffeinated. I miss my Starbucks run ;(  lol
My go to is a grande, non fat iced caramel macchiato.  I think it's about 75 mg of caffeine if I remember correctly.  Well below the 200 mg limit recommended.
  • I feel like we need a Starbucks thread. My baby needs passion tango tea lemonade at least twice a week.

Hey @chucksmom15 I think it is 150 mg, still below, and I know I am being extra cautious with caffeine because I occasionally eat chocolate or other things that have some caffeine. For me it is more how caffeine effects me more so than a concern for the baby.
  • @chucksmom15 and @ramzlau My doctor told me 200mg and I literally drink 200mg of caffeine a day. I have it down to an exact science.
  • I feel like we need a Starbucks thread. My baby needs passion tango tea lemonade at least twice a week.
Vanilla bean frap over here, or I'll get a decaf something or other for the comfort factor.... But it's really their double smoked bacon cheddar sandwich that has me going there 3 times a week!

OMG that sandwich is life.  I would eat one every day if I could!!!
  • I decided that 200 mg daily is an average. So if some days I need 2 cups of coffee and some days all I have is a small green tea or Diet Coke, I'm still good. I was super cautious with baby #1, but baby #2 got lots of caffeine (I was working 80 hours a week and had to get up at 4:00 am to drive 30 minutes...I genuinely needed it). And baby #3 gets sushi. And today I realized I have been eating unpasteurized honey because I never checked the label. I think you get complacent after things go well!
Yes! I am right there with you and on baby #1. I've heard 12 oz. of caffeinated bevarage is ok, but different beverages have different amounts so I figure two small cups (like a teacup) or 1 large cup like a bigger mug or a medium at a coffee shop is a-okay. Also been eating deli meat many days for lunch and plan to eat sushi whenever the mood strikes. I think every food can "potentially" get you sick so I don't see the point in avoiding any foods that I've never been sick from. Obviously, if something seems spoiled or not thoroughly cooked, I wouldn't eat it, but I don't do that anyway. Still not drinking alcohol, but that is pretty much the only diet change I made. On the other side of the coin, I understand if someone is more comfortable cutting out any "potentially risky" foods completely then that's fair too. I just don't feel scared of getting sick from foods that have never made me sick before. To each her own right?

I usually spend my subway ride calculating what my order is and how it will end up under 200 ( with the app as reference) like " if I get a half caf grande I can still add 1 pump of chai syrup or I can get a full caf tall with no chai, etc etc" and make it a huge complicated puzzle.
