What are you grateful for this week?

I will kick us off with a few thoughts from this past week:

1. I can't believe I am 15 weeks pregnant. I didn't think I would ever be here. I am soooo incredibly grateful for science, compassionate and smart medical professionals, and most importantly, my egg donor. I don't know her and don't know if I ever will, but she gave me an opportunity I would not have had otherwise and even though I silently offer her my thanks every day, I doubt I will ever come close to being able to accurately convey the depth of my appreciation for what she did when she chose to become a donor.

2. I am so grateful for the support and love that has been demonstrated by our friends and family. They know our struggles and have been the best group of cheerleaders I could ever ask for. I love that I can share my joy with so many people and they truly get it.

3. I am incredibly thankful that my husband (finally) decided to quit smoking. He knew he had to before we brought a baby home, but I worried about his will power since s/he isn't here yet. I wondered if it was enough just to have the potential. But it's been a month and I am seriously impressed with how well he has done! And it's been really funny to watch him realize what a difference it is being a non-smoker. He can smell things! He can taste things! He doesn't spend $10 a day just to have it go up in smoke! So, so proud of him.

4. Lastly, I am really grateful that the lame attempt to repeal/replace or simply repeal the ACA failed. Not saying the ACA is perfect, but I am confident that there was no chance that the potential replacements were any better. Let's fix what we have. In my professional world, I say all the time, we don't have to start from scratch. Let's borrow from what already exists and build upon that and/or edit as needed. I was pleasantly surprised when I woke this morning to see that the last ditch effort failed to advance.

Yesterday an email came around saying that there were sweet treats in the freezer at work that day. I worked from home so I was sad that I missed out on the fun but it happens a lot on my work from home days so I'm used to it. I just found out they legit stocked the freezer with SO MUCH ICE CREAM. And on a day where my debt card is lost and I haven't gotten to the bank to replace it

The weather this week has been gorgeous! 

Thankful DH is taking DD out grocery shopping and giving me some "me time" at home. We've had kind of a rough week so it'll be nice to have an hour or so to recharge.

Thankful I forced myself to go for a long run and lunch and help deal with my bad mood. Ended up being a great workout! Thankful no alarm tomorrow. So thankful for DD. Thankful for my dog. She's insane but also the best. Thankful for my new office... and so so thankful to be pregnant, in the second trimester, and just looking ahead to an exciting winter!

So thankful for my independent DD. Most days I wish she needed me more, but today I'm grateful that's she's pretty much content to entertain herself all day. I got about four hours of sleep last night, so I'm able to doze on the couch while she happily plays.

I'm thankful that my 6 year old nephew's MRI came back normal. He had to have some tests run earlier this week and I don't think the blood tests are back but at least there was a good MRI result!

I'm soooo thankful that I got results of normal chromosomes yesterday from the QNatal test that I did a week ago. I was extra worried about the health of this baby for some reason but thankfully everything looked good. Also I'm thankful to be getting another boy! Along with my other two already fantastic kids. My sister and I took the kids to the park this morning and it was decent weather. I said to her, 'this is the life, man' as we watched the kids play.

Thankful for a relaxing afternoon off enjoying a good book at the local pool. Thankful to officially be in the 2nd trimester as of today!! And thankful for a supportive DH and family who are just so darn excited for this LO's arrival (the first grandchild for both if our families!)

I am thankful for my new job and a kick ass new boss...we really gel together and I can see us really doing some great things over the next couple of months.  Also thankful that it is the weekend, it is my soon to be brother-in-laws birthday, and thankful for my health and the health of this baby.  Also thankful for Mary from my "why my pregnant self is crying post" lol!
