Incisional Hernia or Scar Tissue?

I am 2 years out after my third C section and for over a year and a half have had abdominal pain that feels like it is in the muscle. I had scans and my OB and I determined it was probably scar tissue. The only way to deal with that was more surgery so I declined.
2 days ago I was laughing and the spot where there is pain felt like a pop and then a huge amount of pain. It was super sore for 48 hours but better now. The pain has lessened but it is still sore. I wonder if it is scar tissue popping or an incisional hernia. I have an appointment next week but want to go in knowledable and prepared. Has anyone else had either?
