My husband and I are on our 2nd month ttc and I don't think it happened this month. If we were to get pregnant next month it would put me right at 8 weeks for a trip we have planned to Greece. I hear that is often the peak of fatigue and morning sickness, so I'm wondering if we should skip next month to avoid that.
We're both frequent travelers and do a few international trips a year, so it is not being out of the country that would be of concern, just feeling so miserable that I don't enjoy it.
Not everyone experiences those symptoms, but it makes sense that you're considering these things. If you're concerned about the possibility, maybe take the month off to be safe, but if you're charting and such, continue to do so.

OP there is no guarantee that you will get KU next month if this month was not successful. I thought I would be KU quickly and I'm currently over the year mark and dealing with infertility. Don't plan your life around TTC and don't forgo anything or avoid simply because of plans that are already in place. It is not worth it to put your life on hold for TTC or to put TTC on hold for your life.
Also, please introduce yourself on the weekly intro thread and participate in the WTO or TWW threads depending on where you are in your cycle!

No seriously. OP. This post is not okay. You need to lurk way more, read the Newbie guides, intro on the Newbie thread and get to know the culture here.
1. We don't do one-off posts like this
2. Sounds like you are assuming you will be a speshul snowflake who gets ku on your 2nd or third month of TTC. Which you may well be. But we've got ladies here participating daily and actively trying for 6+ months, 10 months, 12-14 months, several YEARS!!! So frankly, if you do "try" and get immediately get ku, most of us would gladly give our left arms to be seasick in Greece. Like not even joking. Cut my arm off bc I don't need it as much as I need my babies.
3. If you don't try next cycle and also don't get KU in a year's time, your future self is going to feel pretty silly looking back on where you are right now. J/s
There are lots of reasons to wait until you are really ready to have a baby before trying for one. Maybe being 8 weeks KU on a vacation isn't one of them. Imho.
Okay. I go cry now.
Yeah, I mean, intro on the newbie thread and get to know us better, but I still wouldn't have wanted to be pregnant when I was in Greece. So my vote is to abstain.
We're both frequent travelers and do a few international trips a year, so it is not being out of the country that would be of concern, just feeling so miserable that I don't enjoy it.

Aww, knocked up and travelling internationally? How unlucky can you get, gosh darn it!

OP, you've gotten good advice and please do lurk and read the newbie rules. This touches a nerve because many of the ladies on here have never been pregnant and are trying desperately to become so. Others have had losses or even multiple losses. Even though avoiding unpasteurized cheese in Greece would be a PITA, I would personally not take a ttc break for a vacation or any reason that was not medical, and as you can see, many of the regular posters here feel the same.
As to how you would feel if you should be so lucky as to get ku, every body is different and responds differently to pregnancy hormones. You can't predict how your body will respond any better than you can predict when you will get ku. Some women get very sick in early pregnancy, some do not.
Welcome! As other have said, make sure to post an introduction on the newbie thread. As for TTC, it's so hard to know how long it will take or what symptoms you will have during first trimester. (*TW---FWIW, I did not have any major symptoms during first tri, so you may be forntunate not to experience morning sickness or fatigue, etc. end TW*). GL!
Yeah I mean in an ideal world you could abstain next cycle, get knocked up the next, and have a great vacation to boot.
But like also you might not get knocked up at all. Or for a really long time.
None of us can really say.
If you're looking for my personal story I actually did abstain for an awfully long time to "time" my pregnancy with the school year, as I'm a teacher. I thought for sure I would get pregnant in 1-2 months. 17 cycles later here I am doing IVF. Hope that helps!
Please go into in the newbie thread! We would like to get to know you. You have gotten a little bit of snark here because you hit a nerve with women struggling with infertility, but we would genuinely like for you to get involved here, get to know us, let us get to know you.
It's a gamble either way. *TW* I entertained a similar debate before trying for my son. We were considering booking a trip to Morocco and I wasn't sure if I'd be pregnant or not. We went thinking I might not be pregnant in three months but kept trying anyway b/c if IF ended up being an issue (it wasn't), then I wanted that one year clock started ASAP. So I went to Morocco at the end of my first tri (doctor approved) and my MS which was mild at home got much worse. I couldn't eat fresh veg b/c there were no guarantees they were washed in clean water, my main aversion was to grilled meats and that's a major part of their menu, etc. The only time I threw up was after a winding car ride through the Atlas Mountains. I guess I'm glad I went, but I wish I had enjoyed those experiences while not pregnant. *end TW*
As the other ladies have said, only you can decide what is more important to you and what level of discomfort you are willing to deal with.
I've been planning my life around the BFP for two years. And guess what? I'm still not pregnant AND I missed out on a lot. I hope you are a special snowflake but you may not get knocked up right away.
OP, you might think that a lot of us are coming across as bitter Betty's, but frankly, that's where my head is right now. No one thinks that it will take them a long time to get KU. Something along the lines of the invincibility complex, but for fertility. I haven't avoided getting KU since we started trying a year ago and we've gone on several trips and have had a great time. You can't stop living your life while TTC, because you just don't know how long you'll be stuck in this cruel place. If that situation presented itself to me, I'd still continue TTC, but that's only a choice you and your SO can make.
