I was just talking to my mom about my own birth. Which got me thinking this might be a fun GTKY.
So....tell us about the day you were born!
1. What month were you born? 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 3. Do you like when your birthday is? 4. What time of day you were born? 5. How big were you? 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen?

I was born in March, and love the time of year. My birthday is the first day of spring and just a great time for parties and fun. I was born in the morning in the hallway, going in for an emergency c-section.
TW: I was a twin and the other twin had many health problems and didn't make it. They didn't think I had any chance of making it either, so they bought nothing and had no nursery set up. My mom's friend spent the entire weekend at their house painting and setting up a nursery for me to come home and my mom had no idea.
Also, I never learned I was a twin until I was 22 and my dad make a joke about my dating someone that was a twin, saying we better be careful trying for kids. I was pissed, and still think it was a pretty asshole move to never tell me. For a long time I thought I was adopted because there were zero baby pics of me, and none with my parents in them.
Love
it! Really wanted a spring baby, but decided it wasn’t important.
4. What time of day you were born?

6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth?

7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen?
My
grandma was the first to hold me because my mom was completely knocked out. I don’t know
why it wasn’t my dad (he was there!) This would make me so sad if I wasn’t the
first to hold my own baby.

1. What month were you born? June 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? No clue, I need to ask! 3. Do you like when your birthday is? Yes and no. I hated it as a kid because I never got a special in school birthday celebration. Then I loved it because it's 6 months to the day from Christmas so I though (and still do) that it was cool! 4. What time of day you were born? 9am ish I believe. 5. How big were you? 8lb 14oz 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Not really. My mom said one of the first things she said was "oh my god, she has her grandmothers feet!" I had huge feet and still do (but I'm 6' tall so it makes sense).

1. What month were you born? August 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Late; my mom was about to be induced when I decided I wanted out! 3. Do you like when your birthday is? Yep, I do! I always liked having a summer birthday. Except being at camp one year when I got very homesick. 4. What time of day you were born? Not sure...I think morning? 5. How big were you? I think around 7lbs 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My mom was watching the three stooges and eating peanut butter sandwiches when she went into labor.
1. What month were you born? September 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 3 weeks late! Horrifying to think about that now. 3. Do you like when your birthday is? Yeah, I always get the gift of a 3-day birthday weekend, but it was rough the few times it lined up with my first day of school. 4. What time of day you were born? Early afternoon 5. How big were you? 8lb 5oz 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? C-section 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? I went into distress, which is why they finally induced my mom. I'm sure that's why they don't let women go so long past their due dates now.
@tamaraaaa That story is crazy, I can't believe they kept that from you for so long. Is it talked about now, or still a taboo subject?
@tamaraaaa I can't believe they never told you you were a twin! How terrible. How do they explain not having any baby pictures?
My mom: "I'm fat and it was the 80s."
Not taboo, but also not really discussed a ton? I mean, there aren't a TON of ways it would come up in convo either so it's kinda whatever. I guess I understand not telling me at 5 years old but 22? Geez people.
September. I was a scheduled c-section. 11:28 am 7 lbs 6 oz ( 8oz? Something like that). I live my birthday b/c it is near Labor Day so I always get a holiday right around my birthday! My mom was very annoyed to be having a c-section because her doc originally told her she could try a VBAC and then changed his mind.
Married May 2014 DD born August 2016 Baby #2 due December 2017
All I know about that day is that my mom went into labor while cooking fish for dinner, but she finished cooking and had her dinner before she went to the hospital.
Also, my mom suspects she was having undetected thyroid issues at the time and that's why I was born almost two weeks late. Now she's always on me to have my thyroid checked if I'm even a little bit tired one week. (Spoiler: its fine.)
@moonlady-2, lol about wanting a spring baby. My husband's birthday is January and I'm december and (TW) my first pregnancy the baby was due in January. When I lost that baby I got a little invested in having a winter baby. (END TW).
My son was born in October and we were going to try for a winter baby next, but I got accidentally pregnant 8 months before I had intended to. So this was my last shot at my winter baby. Apparently I never decided it wasn't that important (which really, I know it isn't )
Now that I have a fall, spring, and impending winter baby, I wonder if I shouldn't go for a summer baby and round it out, lol!
Last bit of semi-interesting info: my birthday is a week before Christmas, DH is always near MLK weekend, DS is a week before Halloween, and DD's was on Easter this year. (and my mom is the day before Valentine's Day, my grandfather was July 3, my grandmother is always near Memorial Day weekend, and even my brother was born the day before my dad's birthday.) We have a holiday baby habit in my family.
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? I was a week late, so they induced my mom because of her history of big babies (her first was around 8 and second was around 10). She was also 38 so maybe AMA was a factor in inducing?
3. Do you like when your birthday is? Love it! Fall is my favorite season, and October is my favorite month. My birthday is really close to Halloween and I love Halloween.
4. What time of day you were born? 5:18 pm
5. How big were you? 8 lbs 10 oz (just talked with my mom about this at lunch today)
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? C-section after she labored for double digit hours. My 10-pounder brother was a c-section, and with how many doctors don't do VBACs I'm kind of surprised they let her try for so long.
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Not that I know of during labor, but I do know that earlier in the pregnancy my mom had a CVS when they were still pretty new because of her age. My father had slides of my chromosomes from that testing that he would use in his biology classes. He taught at the community college near my home town so tons of my high school classmates have apparently seen my chromosomes.
3. Do you like when your birthday is? No, I really disliked having a December birthday. I'm close to Christmas and I never had a proper birthday party growing up. Some of that was likely due to my parents just not planning one, but I always felt like an after thought during the holiday times. I swore to never have a child during December yet here I am. :-)
4. What time of day you were born? 3 pm
5. How big were you? 4 lbs even
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? vaginal
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My mother's water unexpectedly broke when she was 34 weeks pregnant. It was the mid 1980s and being that early was scary. I spent my first Christmas and New Year's on a ventilator in the NICU. The pictures are pretty sad to look at. I however never really had any issues or developmental delays other than asthma growing up so I consider myself lucky.
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? I think I was told I was early. I was adopted, and my parents received the call that they had been chosen literally 24 hours before I was born.
3. Do you like when your birthday is? Sure! Except sometimes it happens to fall during Passover, so I have to wait until its over to have cake (can't eat anything that rises)
4. What time of day you were born? I believe early afternoon.
5. How big were you? Tiny! Almost albs even
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My biological father was second guessing their decision to put me up for adoption, so that got put on hold for nearly 24 hours. I don't know anything about them aside from they didn't make enough money to support their family and a newborn, so they ultimately made the choice to let me go. And I am forever grateful!
My sister was the first to hold me, even before my parents. She rarely put me down! I was born on a Sunday, at a Kaiser hospital which my dad nicknamed later on the Chicken Factory, because I had such long skinny chicken legs.
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Really late, my mom thinks her due date was wrong. 3. Do you like when your birthday is? i love it. I was born right as summer begins, best. 4. What time of day you were born? 9ish 5. How big were you? 8lbs and 2oz I think? 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Emergency Csection 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My birth with nothing short of traumatizing for both of my parents. My dad was actually scared to have another and was STILL terrified when I had my own baby 29 years later! I basically got stuck on my way out and they really thought they could force me out but in the end, it was an emergency c-section. I was bruised and have had neck problems my whole life that my mom swears are from the doctor trying to manipulate me out.
1. What month were you born? August 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? About 2 weeks late 3. Do you like when your birthday is? I've never had any complaints! 4. What time of day you were born? I was born in the evening - 6:29 pm 5. How big were you? 6 pounds even 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal I think? 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Nope, but my aunts like to joke that I came out shit stained because my mom pooped during delivery. I hear that joke far too often for being nearly 30.
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? About 2 weeks late
3. Do you like when your birthday is? Ehh. I always wanted to have a summer birthday so I could have a pool party. Plus, when your birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas, no one really wants another party/gift to think about. Luckily my parents really tried to keep my birthday separate from Christmas and we usually celebrated it early.
4. What time of day you were born? Evening.
5. How big were you? 7ish pounds
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Not really, but my mom likes to mention the fact that I was the only girl in the whole nursery when I was born.
1. What month were you born? January 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Mom went into labor on her due date and had me the next day 3. Do you like when your birthday is? Meh, not super psyched about it as a kid, but I don't know if that's just cause there were a lot of January birthdays in my class/group of friends so everyone was kind of over mine by the time it rolled around. 4. What time of day you were born? 11:06am 5. How big were you? 6lbs 8oz 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? I was footling breech! My mom ended up needing an episiotomy and forceps to get me out! She always tells this story of how all her friends told her to use the mirror during labor to watch me crown and they put it out and all she could see was a purple foot and says "NOPE!" and made them put it away.
1. What month were you born? July 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 11 days early 3. Do you like when your birthday is? I like that it's in summer, but being on the 4th stinks because everyone is always busy. 4. What time of day you were born? 9:35pm when the fireworks were starting 5. How big were you? 6lbs 8oz 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? vaginal 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Because of it being a holiday they were short staffed. My mom needed to pee so bad that it was actually holding me in. My dad apparently drug a Dr. down the hallway to get my mom a catheter. As soon as she was relieved, they didn't even get to transfer her to the delivery table, I basically just came out, no pushing needed.
1. What month were you born? May 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? I was over a week late 3. Do you like when your birthday is? I do. My great Gma bday is two days after mine and she kept telling my mom to keep me in until then even though my mom was already late because she wanted me to be her bday present every year. We still shared bday parties most of my life which I loved. Shes like my second mom. 4. What time of day you were born? I was born at 618 pm. Every year at exactly 618 my mom calls and tells me my birth story. 5. How big were you? 7 lbs 2 oz 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal birth 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My mom went into the hospital around noon. They checked her told her it was going to be tomorrow likely. Later that evening they gave her something to relax her and within 20 mins she made my dad to get the nurse to check her again because she felt like she had to push. The nurse was annoyed because she just checked and I think she was only a 3. The nurse checked and my dad said her eyes got huge and she ran to call the doctor.*TW* my heart rate kept dropping so they took my mom into the OR room and threw scrubs at my dad. Come to find out once I was born there was a second cord that was healed off and the doctor said it was likely a twin that didn't develop and that cord was hitting mine and causing the monitor to drop.
1. What month were you born? November 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Premie- about a month early 3. Do you like when your birthday is? Love it! Not too close to Thanksgiving or Christmas and during my favorite season- fall! 4. What time of day you were born? 6 am 5. How big were you? 4 lbs 12 oz 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Not that I know of. I had to stay in the hospital a couple of extra weeks since I was a premie and my lungs weren't fully developed. I guess I was just destined to be small- I'm 4'11!
1. What month were you born? June 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Late 3. Do you like when your birthday is? Yup, I celebrate my birthday weekend the weekend after Memorial Day. 2 party weekends in a row! 4. What time of day you were born? 12:54 AM 5. How big were you? 8 lbs 15 oz 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? vaginal 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My mom actually went into labor with me 3 days before I was born. The docs kept telling her it was false labor. I'm so sorry mom!!!!

How did I miss this thread? It was literally started on my birthday.
1. What month were you born? July! 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? A week early. 3. Do you like when your birthday is? I love being a summer baby, even though I hate summer. Pool parties with ice cream cake every year for childhood birthdays and a couple fun vacations for grown-up birthdays so far. My mom would make treats for me to bring into the classroom on my half-birthday, so I didn't feel like I missed out on that school-time tradition. 4. What time of day you were born? 12:26pm. Mom likes to say I came out just in time for lunch. 5. How big were you? 7lbs 8ish oz (I don't remember, but bigger than 6oz and less than 10 oz) 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Scheduled C-section, because I was breach and refused all attempts to turn me. 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? I popped out a girl and not the boy they were expecting, so my parents had to scramble for a name. Decades later they have both separately confided to me that they were secretly thrilled to have a daughter, but were hiding their excitement from the other in case the other had been dead set on a first born son. I am 37 and still sworn to secrecy on this by both sides.

1. What month were you born? August 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 2 weeks early 3. Do you like when your birthday is? Not when I was younger because everyone is on vacation that time of year (last 2 weeks of Aug) so having a big get together was always out of the question, but now as an adult I enjoy it because it's usually a nice hot summer day and a good excuse to take the day off from work and do a beach day or go out to a nice restaurant later. 4. What time of day you were born? a little after midnight 5. How big were you? 6 lbs. and some change? 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? vaginal 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My dad almost didn't make it in time! My mom was holding me in (omg) until he arrived, which he did eventually. Otherwise my mom claims she had a very easy pregnancy/labor with me. I'm the oldest. She had three more kids after me and says the same thing -- all easy. Fingers crossed I'm the same!
ETA: also my parents told everyone that my name was going to be Christine, which it's not. They decided after I was born to name me something different. So my whole family showed up the hospital looking for baby Christine and brought presents with Christine written in their cards. Another reason I'm not sharing my baby's name with the family before she's here -- you never know!

@tamaraaaa ... wow. that's kind of fucked up. even if it is weird to imagine them just telling you one day, no one had like, a family tree ornament with names on it? no one talked about it at any family gatherings? this baby is like he who shall not be named? i can't even imagine your feelings when you were finally told.
all you ladies that were 2 and 3 weeks late...i wonder how accurate the due dates were back then? most women i know don't have a standard cycle length, so LMP is usually bunk. nowadays the ultrasound technology is so much more advanced and they date you a few times in the first 20 weeks but i don't think they did that at all when we were gestating. just a wild stab using a remembered LMP. without our smartphone apps, how many of us would know those dates anyway, if you aren't actively tracking to TTC?

1. What month were you born? November 2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 40 weeks - miraculous for twins 3. Do you like when your birthday is? I'm sort of neutral. Autumn is my fave but birthday parties were also meh at that time of year. 4. What time of day you were born? 5:20am 5. How big were you? I don't recall exactly but both my sister and I were around 6.5 lbs give or take a few ounces so my mom was enormous. 6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? I was told c-section but based on the time of birth, I'm scratching my head. Perhaps she went into labor naturally and then had a c-section when she got to the hospital because the specialists wanted her to. I think one of us was breech. 7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My mom just likes to joke about the entire world attending the birth. They were at a teaching hospital and she was having twins so there were apparently a whole rack of people in the operating room.

@anewadventure a friend recently had a vaginal birth with twins at 35 +6 and she said there were a ton of people in the room. Some were prepping to take the boys to the nicu if needed but a lot just wanted to see/assist with a vaginal birth for twins. I guess twin births cause a lot of excitement on the maternity ward.

3. Do you like when your birthday is? It's ok, usually starting to get warmer around then. @splsmama2016 I don't keep kosher for Passover now, but we did when I was a kid, so I also sometimes had to wait for a cake or have a really unpleasant matzah meal one... those years always bummed me out!
4. What time of day you were born? I'm not sure... I think late at night or super early in the morning.
5. How big were you? I was either 7lb7oz or 7lb11oz, I get mine and my sister's weights mixed up.
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? C-section
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Nothing too exciting. My great aunt was knitting/crocheting me a baby blanket when she found out my mom's water broke and she dropped the stitch when she heard the news, so she put a bow there. I always thought it was cool that I had something that marked that moment in time.

7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen?
My mom was in labor for 3 hours and pushed for 45 minutes. She went drug free.
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Scheduled so on time.
3. Do you like when your birthday is? I don't hate it.
4. What time of day you were born? 12:35pm
5. How big were you? 7lbs 8oz
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Scheduled c-section
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Nope, my Mom says it was a pretty easy c-section.

December
2. Were you on time? Early? Late?
6 weeks early
March!!
1. What month were you born?
June
2. Were you on time? Early? Late?
Really late, my mom thinks her due date was wrong.
3. Do you like when your birthday is?
i love it. I was born right as summer begins, best.
4. What time of day you were born?
9ish
5. How big were you?
8lbs and 2oz I think?
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth?
Emergency Csection
@eazybreezy225 so just curious, were your own children large at birth?
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? About 2 weeks late
3. Do you like when your birthday is? I've never had any complaints!
4. What time of day you were born? I was born in the evening - 6:29 pm
5. How big were you? 6 pounds even
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal I think?
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Nope, but my aunts like to joke that I came out shit stained because my mom pooped during delivery. I hear that joke far too often for being nearly 30.

TTC Since 8/2016
Me: 36 DH: 41
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Mom went into labor on her due date and had me the next day
3. Do you like when your birthday is? Meh, not super psyched about it as a kid, but I don't know if that's just cause there were a lot of January birthdays in my class/group of friends so everyone was kind of over mine by the time it rolled around.
4. What time of day you were born? 11:06am
5. How big were you? 6lbs 8oz
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? I was footling breech! My mom ended up needing an episiotomy and forceps to get me out! She always tells this story of how all her friends told her to use the mirror during labor to watch me crown and they put it out and all she could see was a purple foot and says "NOPE!" and made them put it away.
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 11 days early
3. Do you like when your birthday is? I like that it's in summer, but being on the 4th stinks because everyone is always busy.
4. What time of day you were born? 9:35pm when the fireworks were starting
5. How big were you? 6lbs 8oz
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? vaginal
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Because of it being a holiday they were short staffed. My mom needed to pee so bad that it was actually holding me in. My dad apparently drug a Dr. down the hallway to get my mom a catheter. As soon as she was relieved, they didn't even get to transfer her to the delivery table, I basically just came out, no pushing needed.
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? I was over a week late
7 lbs 2 oz
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal birth
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Premie- about a month early
3. Do you like when your birthday is? Love it! Not too close to Thanksgiving or Christmas and during my favorite season- fall!
4. What time of day you were born? 6 am
5. How big were you? 4 lbs 12 oz
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? Vaginal
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? Not that I know of. I had to stay in the hospital a couple of extra weeks since I was a premie and my lungs weren't fully developed. I guess I was just destined to be small- I'm 4'11!
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? Late
3. Do you like when your birthday is? Yup, I celebrate my birthday weekend the weekend after Memorial Day. 2 party weekends in a row!
4. What time of day you were born? 12:54 AM
5. How big were you? 8 lbs 15 oz
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? vaginal
7. Did anything special/weird/scary happen? My mom actually went into labor with me 3 days before I was born. The docs kept telling her it was false labor. I'm so sorry mom!!!!

7lbs 8ish oz (I don't remember, but bigger than 6oz and less than 10 oz)

2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 2 weeks early
4. What time of day you were born? a little after midnight
5. How big were you? 6 lbs. and some change?
6. Were you a c-section baby or vaginal birth? vaginal

Met: September 2005 Married: October 2008 DS: 09/2014
2. Were you on time? Early? Late? 40 weeks - miraculous for twins
3. Do you like when your birthday is? I'm sort of neutral. Autumn is my fave but birthday parties were also meh at that time of year.
4. What time of day you were born? 5:20am

Baby #2 due December 2017
1. What month were you born?
April
2. Were you on time? Early? Late?
I was about 2 weeks late
