@mamasaurus12415 Ravelry is generally my first stop (I have the same un on there fyi, clearly I'm super creative with uns). However, I also look at brand websites or even just Google if I'm looking for something specific and can't find it on Ravelry. I also like to go through Knitpicks and watch for their yearly sale in Nov. In addition to great deals on yarn, last year they had pattern books for $1 and I bought waaayyyy too many.
I've also had pretty good luck with snagging patterns from the samples Amazon has up for different books. Sometimes the patterns are edited out for obvious reasons but some are still in there.
These are my two most recent quilts. I'm trying to make one this summer for our local quilt show, but I had better get a move on with it or I won't get one done. Any quilters out there with an impressive looking but quick pattern suggestion? Edit: it doesn't have to be easy, in fact, I like a challenge

@mamasaurus12415 Thank you! The blanket actually doesn't take that long to do. I'll see if I can find the pattern and post it here for anyone interested. I asked my mom to teach me at my niece's 6th b-day party and she's going to be 14 in about 6 weeks so nearly 8 years. My mom has known for I don't know how many years and I realized one day that she will no longer be with us and then who will make the baby sweaters she makes (the one in my post above). So I asked her to teach me. Although she only knew the basic stitches (knit and purl) so if I found a pattern with anything else (like a yarn over) I had to youtube it so I learned a bit from there as well
Wow, that was much longer than I intended, sorry!

@jsnakehole I color too! I really like coloring with markers and then doing extra shading with colored pencils, but I have this problem where I can only find certain coloring books that have paper that doesn't absorb too much marker color. If too much marker color gets absorbed, then I can't shade in with the colored pencils. DH is NOT pleased when I buy a new coloring book and then say I can't use it because it's absorbing too much marker pigment.
I'll have to check out Ravelry to see if I can find a good "just getting started knitting again after 8 years" pattern.
ETA: But knowing myself, I'll immediately jump into something incredibly complicated. Because that's what I do.
Haha, he movie is always the first thing I think of when the word craft is involved and I couldn't resist. H asks: "what are you crafting?" All the damn time because he still can't figure out when I am knitting and when I'm crocheting.
Also, The Craft is a good movie and I second @adirat on the spell request @vflux33!
I'm so disappointed this thread isn't about the movie. I have nothing to contribute to that actual theme.

@beanship Yeah my sister did a spell for herself and me but I haven't brought it up lately because she was KU at the time and had a loss since then...
@adirat@zwink1 I was so distracted I forgot to bring my magic stones with me to the IUI. They're in my purse now though and I've been taking them everywhere. She did warn me they were not cycle specific and that they just meant I'd have 2 kids (2 stones, she knows we want 2) eventually. But because of her loss I haven't brought this up in a few weeks here or asked for another one or anything. I feel like the spell thing lost its allure because of the loss so I haven't mentioned it in awhile, but if it comes up again in a nicer context in conversation with her I'll ask for some notes and share them here
Ohhhhh! I haven't done any projects the last couple months, but here are my most recent.
I made a couch-bar thing. My huge sectional took up all our side-table room, so we had nowhere to put drinks and stuff. So I made a table to go behind the couch and along the opposite wall. WE have it paired with some bar stool so you can even sit and watch TV while eating. It's turned out GREAT for entertaining.
This isn't probably a craft, but I LOVE experiment with pie crusts and making them fancy AF. I don't have many pictures with me, but here is one I made at Thanksgiving.
Last, I made a weird take on a quilt (with guest appearance from Pilot and Zoey's Back). It's quilted squares, and then the squares are crocheted instead of sewn together. I never took a picture of the final project before I gave it away. It was for BFF. I chose butterflies to match the nursery and the blue satin squares were actually pieces of the bridesmaid dress I wore at her and her H's wedding. The edges had this really pretty tatted scalloped edge. I wish I got a picture!
This last one is a baby hat I made. I made a matching sleep sack, but I don't have pictures. I made them when h and I first started TTC, but then decided I couldn't stand for them to never be used, so I sent them to my sister.

@KristoKekerooni I am SO IMPRESSED with your Pinterest-worthy couch bar. Your pie-making skills are legit, too. I'm having all the feels about the baby hat.
I'll have to take some pics of my better coloring book pages when I get home.
@beanship - Girl, please. That couch bar took maybe three or four hours. It was so easy! I literally didn't follow directions or anything, I just went to home depot and felt it out. Lol. The only difficult things was moving it around. It doesn't look it, but it's over 10 feet long. I don't think we will be able to take it with us if we ever move, because I don't think something that long and thing can stand up to moving. not that it's flimsy at all, it doesn't wiggle or anything. It's just so long and thin. /shrug . And you're welcome to come over for pie. But I pretty much only make apple pie, so you'll have to be cool with that.

This thread is great! I'm not super crafty but I try really hard, and as a result we have like 12 random items around our house that look like 4th grade art class projects
But I will say, this one is my favorite! It was an old ratty (but really well made) dresser that DH had from his childhood. I refinished it for DS's room and it looks pretty dang good!
@KristoKekerooni. I am super impressed at the table and the pie crust is so beautiful! Do you have a recipe you love for pie crusts?
I love crafting, but I have not been working on anything lately. I do a lot with wooden blocks...painting them, adding photographs, or wooden letters (for holiday signs).
@dukestar5 - Thank you! And yes, I have one that I LOVE. It's a handwritten one from my grandma. When I get home I will get it for you!

umm... @KristoKekerooni wow. Just wow. All of those are super impressive. I love that you said you went at it on feeling. I would probably just wander around Home Depot and leave empty handed. Goals.

@beanship Yeah my sister did a spell for herself and me but I haven't brought it up lately because she was KU at the time and had a loss since then...
@adirat @zwink1 I was so distracted I forgot to bring my magic stones with me to the IUI. They're in my purse now though and I've been taking them everywhere. She did warn me they were not cycle specific and that they just meant I'd have 2 kids (2 stones, she knows we want 2) eventually. But because of her loss I haven't brought this up in a few weeks here or asked for another one or anything. I feel like the spell thing lost its allure because of the loss so I haven't mentioned it in awhile, but if it comes up again in a nicer context in conversation with her I'll ask for some notes and share them here
I made a couch-bar thing.

I made ode a couple things around the house. Have done a few paintings as well. But my table is one of my favourites. Last year I decided to try my hand at fondant for a cake. I was happy with my first attempt.
God I love wine

also you ladies are super inspiring. I have visions of craftiness, yet I can't seem to get my hands to create the things I visualize.
Any tips for someone who wants to start knitting? I tried to knit a scarf a few years ago, by watching some YouTube videos, Let's just say it didn't go well.
@hedgepig those quilts are beautiful
@lulu1180 impressive knitting
umm... @KristoKekerooni wow. Just wow. All of those are super impressive. I love that you said you went at it on feeling. I would probably just wander around Home Depot and leave empty handed. Goals.
