Re: Monday Ticker Change 6/26

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 16 weeks, baby is the size of an avocado and I am definitely starting to look round these days!

    2) How are you feeling? Good while awake, but sleeping this week hasn't been awesome -- I cannot seem to stay comfortable and miss sleeping on my stomach/back already!

    3) Any appointments this week/last? Found out on Thursday that our baby is a boy! Honestly, I've only ever imaged myself raising daughters, so it was a little shocking but it's pretty cool to be talking about him using his name and the idea of being a "boy mom" is growing on me :)

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? My husband asked this weekend if we'd be taking any birthing/baby classes at the hospital before he comes, and I hadn't really thought about it. Have any of you taken these classes? If so, did you or S/O find them beneficial?

    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to? It was a relatively low-key weekend for us after a week of traveling. We did some necessary cleaning, picked out a few nursery items, and I broke down and bought some maternity shorts and tops at Motherhood because they were having a pretty good sale (honestly, I don't know why we aren't all wearing maternity clothes ALL the time! It's feels like wearing pajamas!) Oh, and we went to my favorite Indian restaurant on Saturday, so I'd call it a win!

  • 1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 15 weeks, baby is an orange...

    2) How are you feeling? I don't want to jinx it, but the last two days I haven't experienced much nausea, or gagging or vomiting... I'll take it!!

    3) Any appointments this week/last? Next appointment is 7/10... they'll order my anatomy scan after that, but we're team green, so no sex reveal!

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Still pretty quiet for this section

    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to? I work weekends so I spent quite a bit of time at work, but did go to a surprise party for my uncle sat night... it was the first time seeing a lot of family members since announcing, so lots of congratulations and hugs!!

@CandyApple2012 I wish I felt the need for maternity clothes... my friend is due in 3 weeks and raves about how comfortable she is in them... my only belly is fat from before pregnancy!!

  • @CandyApple2012 we didn't take classes and instead I researched on my own. I also did a lot of talking with my DH about things to make sure he felt in the loop.

Hi all... I've been MIA lately and I'm so sorry

    1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 17 weeks so Micah is the size of a pomegranate

    2) How are you feeling?
I'm having intense migraines for the past couple of days and my Braxton hicks have already kicked in lol. Other than that I really can't complain

    3) Any appointments this week/last?
July 5th but I plan to call tomorrow about the migraines so I may get in sooner.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I'm really warming up to the idea of a third boy. My oldest is of course over the moon that he is getting another baby brother and calls him Micah Paul constantly. He's very excited for Christmas time this year lol
    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to?
It was surprisingly relaxed. I netflixed and dealt with migraines at night. Other than church we just stayed home and chilled out.
  • @CandyApple2012 I have no prior experience with this, but DH and I plan to take the baby safety/CPR class, and I'll take the BF one, but I think that'll be it for classes (unless someone makes a really strong case for additional ones).

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
17 weeks, also a pomegranate (or large fries, or a troll doll)

    2) How are you feeling?
Feeling okay! The daily headaches from the last couple weeks seem to have died down, now just dealing with RLP and sleeping like hot garbage.

    3) Any appointments this week/last?
No appointments till July 14. :(

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rant about ants in my kitchen, rave about the lovely weather today, my only question of the moment is wheeeeen am I finally going to start showing?? (Prob in the next couple weeks, but it seriously feels like years since we first got that BFP.)

    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to?
Had a pretty chill weekend, DH and I got all our errands & shopping done on Saturday so we could just hang out and enjoy Sunday. It was very nice.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
    16 weeks-avocado!

    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty good. Occasional RLP and some pubic bone pain if I hold DD too long. Also some stomach aches that my doctor says is stomach acid.

    3) Any appointments this week/last?
    nope.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave: tiny baby flutters are getting more frequent! Rant: still in that weird stage where I kinda just look like I've eaten too much if you didn't know me pre-pregnancy.

    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to?
We got back from a week vacation on Friday, so the weekend was chill and filled with running errands. We did change DDs crib to a toddler bed!! She is stoked. She's just over two.

@CandyApple2012 We did baby care classes, BF classes, and did hypnobirthing. Hypnobirthing is pretty hippy dippy, but I loved it. It is basically using meditation techniques to work through the sensations of labor (they avoid using the word pain). I recommend it, but it isn't for everyone! Happy to answer any questions about it. As for the baby care classes, I'm sure it was important to take but we both forgot everything they taught us when DD actually arrived. That's what google is for, though, right?!? Same with the BF class, but I'd still recommend it.

@djd0404 With DD I started showing between 5 & 6 months. I was similarly so annoyed that I wasn't showing sooner. I also had strong abs (not like a six pack, but I do yoga & work out) so apparently that can make it take longer to show. Even at my due date people thought I was 7 months. I was still wearing pre-pregnancy t-shirts with maternity jeans. I think this time I'll be showing both sooner & bigger!

  • 1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
17 weeks, Victor is the size of a pomegranate
    2) How are you feeling?
Still fighting the vomiting battle but winning a little more lately. Migraines worse than my normal but that may just seem more dreadful because Tylenol isn't very helpful. Is anyone else super constipated? What is working for you in that department?
    3) Any appointments this week/last?
Last week we had an appointment with our regular OB which was mostly to check up after my last bleed and also to get her back in the loop after her vacation. Our next appointments are 7-11 with my OB and 7-13 with the high risk specialist for the anatomy scan/to check on the position of the placenta previa and the size of the SCH.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?

    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to?

i spent a lot of time with DH watching movies and generally taking it easy because we have both had pretty awful work weeks.
  • @brittabatwhite yes... the constipation has been pretty bad... I contacted my OB yesterday and they recommended metamucil and colace. I will be buying them both today... because exercise, water and high fiber diet has not done a thing for me...
Any other ideas?!? I am willing to try!!!
  • ) How far along are you? How big is baby? 14wks ummm I think a clown fish

    2) How are you feeling? hanging in there. the nausea and dry heaving were getting a bit better the end of last week but have been back the last few days. the fatigue is still kicking my butt.

    3) Any appointments this week/last? I had my NT scan last week and everything looks good (hooray for this AMA mamma!)

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? DH has been a champ wrangling the twins when I can barely get off the couch. I have had some spurts of energy and have been active but I think I try to do to much and then crash a few hours later.

    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to?  It was Ok, busy, with keeping the twins occupied and doing yard work and then crashing on the couch when I did too much. thankfully it was blessedly cool outside.

@CandyApple2012 like @lavashiner I did the hypnobirthing classes. I didn't get to use them (ended up with a scheduled C-section) but the relaxation techniques were great. ( @brittabatwhite and @kdestito they actually have some breathing techniques (J-breathing) for when your pushing but you practice when your pooping and I actually found those helpful when I was constipated and having trouble pooping)

  • @brittabatwhite  @kdestito  we had a few posts about constipation in another thread earlier this week but i can't remember which one. probably symptoms?

    • metamucil and colace are options but were never a big hit for me personally.
    • prunes every day or a small glass of prune juice (or pear juice, if you really don't like prunes)
    • magnesium supplement like natural calm (powder works better than tablets) - if you're getting migraines or charlie horses or restless leg syndrome, i can't recommend this enough to battle multiple issues at once
    • coffee
    • several glasses of warm or room temp water first thing each morning
    • probiotics
    • yogurt with added prebiotic mixed in such as raw potato starch (feel free to google, i like bob's red mill)
    • spicy foods! haha!
    • make sure you are hydrating adequately
    • regular exercise (yeah, i know)
    • squatty potty

  • @CandyApple2012  we took several classes - breastfeeding, infant / child CPR and first aid, and the combo "parenting / labor and delivery / hospital tour" type class. i'd recommend unless it is prohibitive in cost and time. at the very least they cover all your options for pain medication, they talk about the process of labor in much more detail (the stages, what all the terms mean, typical timelines, how to know when to go to the hospital), you can get familiar with how to get to your hospital and check in, just a lot of little things to try to make you feel more comfortable and prepared in a time that can be nerve wracking.

@kdestito  how are things with your husband?

@wabash15  your NT scan went well, yes?

@djd0404  no luck with the ants? we solved our ant problem but some fruit flies joined us with our farm share pickup on friday and i am about to go apeshit on them. ughhhh.

  • sorry guys, better late than never.
thanks for someone else starting it this week!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?  17w 1d, whatever that is. I suddenly look quite large and don't fit into any of my clothes, even the larger ones, so maternity pants it is today. maternity tops are still not quite right so that's a struggle.

    2) How are you feeling? ehhh. still exhausted, still have to eat like clockwork, i've had really terrible heartburn and that has been surprisingly difficult to ignore. i still go to bed by 9pm. i sleep hard for four or five hours and then toss and turn for the remainder of the night.

    3) Any appointments this week/last?  had my 16w bloodwork drawn last week and results are normal. next OB appt is similar to @brittabatwhite - reg OB on july 11 then MFM on july 17 for A/S

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? i don't know. work is driving me insane and i am very aggravated with the world right now. just generally grouchy.

    5) GTKY: How was your weekend? What were you up to?  very busy weekend, actually, because my sister was visiting me from Chicago. we went tart cherry picking, to the pool, hiking, made ice cream, lots of stuff. my son came down with a high fever saturday midday which held on all weekend as well so that added some complexity to our plans. he is doing much better now for which i am grateful. the struggle to get a toddler to take medicine is just awful.

  • @anewadventure yes thanks for checking. The US looked great and the blood work came back low risk

  • @anewadventure We totally zapped the problem with the ants in the bathroom, were all proud of ourselves, and then 2 days later walked into the kitchen and went "uh oh." (I had even taken care of the cat food situation ahead of time, so instead of being there, they were marching from the window across the counter. GAG!) So the battle rages on. Some days I feel close to setting fire to the house.

  • @anewadventure DH is fine now, took a few days but all is well now...

I bought the colace and metamucil today and have started those because:
prunes are part of my regular diet, coffee hasn't worked (I don't drink it a lot but started last week to try to help) I drank warm lemon water in the am until I started with the coffee last week, I eat a smoothie daily with activia and Chia seeds, hydration isn't an issue, we've upped our daily walks to 2/day to add.more exercise and I am on my feet at work all day

But am going to look into these options if I don't get results.... I have actually heard wonderful things about the squatty potty (I work with people that have physical and mental disabilities and quite often regular BMs are a concern for them)

  • I tried Traditional Medicinals Smooth Move Organic Peppermint tea and it was very successful. I feel a little like I have a bad tummy bug today but it is certainly getting the job done.
