No Cervix? No problem

Hi everyone,
This is my first post, am excited to be here
My TTC journey is starting off a little differently from most of you. Last year, I had my entire cervix removed to treat early stage cervical cancer. So basically I am working with my vajajay, a small opening and my womb and ovaries. Basically, the front porch to the house is gone! There is a possibility that TTC may be more of a challenge for me. There are lots of women who have successfully conceived naturally after my surgery (the technical name for it is a Trachelectomy) and some women have had to go down to IUI or IVF route. 
This is my first month ever TTC. We have been advised to try for 3 months, then get his swimmers checked, then try for 6-12 months. I'm 33 and my periods have changed a little but are quite regular. I am hoping that whoever is up there who controls this stuff is good to us! I hope to share my journey and hopefully get some support from you lovely ladies as well as read your great success stories and hopefully be able to help some people too!

Welcome. We try to keep things organized on this board since there are so many active members. Could you intro on the weekly intro thread? And then lurk and jump into the other threads when you are ready?

You cannot delete the thread and you've already been quoted anyways.  We like to keep things organized and if you had read the pinned posts before creating your own, you would have known this

Granted it's a little quiet around here today, so I mean.  This is like barging into the library or a quiet cafe where people are politely chit chatting and out of nowhere just blurt blurt blurting out to us all about your lady bits.

No we're nice, we swear! It's just some people end up here longer than others and try to imagine how cluttered and frustrating it can get if everyone makes their own post every time. Fine for a few months but super annoying after a year. Know what I mean? Join us in WTO or TWW based on where you are in your cycle!

Congrats on beating cancer! Sounds like you may have some very unique challenges ahead TTC. Welcome! And everyone gets asked to introduce themselves in the specific intro thread to help keep things more orderly. It's nothing personal.

@dublingirl1983 I know it probably seems weird right now that people didn't lead with the congrats on beating cancer part. Everyone here is really cool and we are very happy to meet you and want to get to know you. This is not like other boards. It is way, way better than the other ones in a large part because of the "regimented" nature and how it makes it easier to get to know each other and support one another and become friends. 

Please do stay-- I think your situation is very unique and that it would be great to have someone like you around. If you're willing to put up with the formalities here you will totally get why people stick to them after a bit of time. It was weird to me at first too, but I'm so glad I stuck around. 

Welcome and congrats on making it this far in your journey in spite of the challenges you've faced!

@dublingirl1983 I just read this thread and have to say I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around TTC without a cervix - wow! Very happy for you that you beat the cancer and that you are still able to (hopefully) bear children. As others have said (more eloquently than I can - I'm looking at you @vflux33 and @doxiemoxie212), welcome! I know some of the responses you got might seem a little blunt, but you'd be amazed at how many people jump onto this board without knowing (or caring to know) the rules of the road. These rules have been developed over the years for good reasons, which I am certain that you will come to understand over time. Please know that it is not personal, and that people won't hold it against you if you decide to stick around. 

As for not being tech savvy, you are not alone! Don't feel shy about asking g for clarification on the MANY acronyms, and don't be upset if someone redirects you for doing something wrong. It happens all the time. One starting point that many of the PP's (that's previous posters) have suggested is lurking, which means reading through lots of other threads to get a sense of how the things work, especially the threads pinned at the top (one of which includes a link to a list of abbreviation and acronyms that you will find helpful). I hope this helps.

On a different note - are you from Dublin?
