What's with the toy throwing?

I am so tired from constantly picking up the toys that he throws all across the room. We have one of those Leapfrog fridge toys w/ the alphabet letters and he only likes to throw them all over the kitchen floor. Same thing with puzzles. Has no interest in actually playing with them as they're supposed to be! Is anyone else just done with picking up the pieces all the time? I actually put all the letters but a b and c away. ugh.

  • Totally same thing at my house!  Today, DS was throwing play fruits and veggies from his kitchen over the safety gate into the kitchen.  He thought it was hysterical!!

  • It's a boy thing. ?Ds has been throwing his toys since he was about 8m old. ?Now he's?at least?actually playing w/his toys too, but there's still lots of throwing! ?I make ds & dd help me pick up their toys 3 times a day (before "brunch", before dinner, & at bedtime). ?I keep books, balls, & most of their small toys in bins so that pick-up is as quick & easy as possible. ?
  • I think it's more of a kid thing than a boy thing. Z loves throwing toys. She'll throw her large blocks in the air (they are the cardboard kind, so no worries) and then shrug like "Huh... how'd that happen? I am innocent!"

Throwing play food over the gate is also one of her top five favorite past times.
