@daisy222-2 hi! Glad you're joining in.  So glad you got to normals! So exciting.

I also have an appointment tomorrow with my RE to sign consent paperwork for the transfer and get my calendar. I am so excited.

I also love words with friends but should read more in the evenings. Games are just for fun. Glacier is beautiful, I hope you enjoy your trip.
  • @Hopeful_mom I am hoping you're right and that the blood work just wasn't done in time for the end of their work day.  I am of course paranoid that they are going to tell me we missed my window of opportunity or something because of my crazy week last week and postponing for a week.  Hopefully I have some answers tomorrow morning.

Haha, well you definitely are healthy in the ways of the booze!  I definitely have an inner struggle with when to stop the drinking before transfer.  Ideally, I probably should have stopped already... But I guess I am just trying to be more relaxed this time around.  Not that I'm a veteran to this process (because I know some of you girls have done many more cycles than me), but I guess this time I am just going to try and not change my life too much.  I am hoping that way I will feel more relaxed about everything because I really know how to stress myself out.  My strategy this time around is that if I'm not making drastic changes to my lifestyle, then I won't be too stressed about everything.  Haha, then talk to me after the FET when I am freaking out about every move I make... Or don't make!  Haha.  Gosh weight gain is no joke in this process.  I have been lucky for the most part, but I do think that Lupron Depot injection I had affected things.  I workout everyday either by doing P90X3 or running, but after getting that injection last month, I noticed my weight kept going up a few pounds each day and I was having a harder time at getting it stable than I usually do.  What we don't do to ourselves to have a baby!  Thank you for the good thoughts!

Welcome @daisy222-2... Congrats on the normal embies!  I am always a little jealous when I hear testing results because we did not test our embryos.  I sometimes wonder what if ours are all abnormal and we don't know?  We'll have to suffer multiple times through transfers!  But then I try to think positively haha.  I am glad you brought up reading more!  I am always open to new book suggestions.  We can add that into our non-fertility related question of the week... Any good book ideas?  I just started Into the Water the other day... It's by the same author as The Girl on the Train, which I loved.  It's nice you have some fun plans coming up to enjoy.  I totally related too to what you said about IVF making you boring.  I too have felt compelled to turn down plans because of all the reasons you mentioned, but I am going to try my hardest this cycle to keep my life as normal as possible.  (Disclaimer: Be on the lookout for a post when I am freaking out because I can't just act normal when I'm so nervous about if my transfer worked or not lol).  I say enjoy your drinks and have fun this next month!  I am a bad influence for this part, haha.

Yay for embies! We're also doing the testing and I think we want to know the sex too. It's exciting and nerve racking.
We have our retrieval tomorrow morning. I'm scared and excited all at the same time. Kind of happy to think that for a couple weeks there will be no shots or anything but the stress won't go away one sure. I haven't drank either in a long time, but think maybe enjoying one or two might not be a bad choice.
Congrats on some good progress ladies.

Good luck on your retrieval today @Holls214!
  •
  • @MMD1986 How was your appointment today?  Did you get your calendar?  Hopefully you are off to a smooth start for your cycle.

@Holls214 I hope your retrieval went well today!  I'd say some celebratory (and stress-relieving) drinks are in order. ;)

AFM by 8 AM this morning I had still not heard from my clinic about what my next instructions are.  I'm sure they sometimes think I'm a pest, but I'm not about to sit back and wait... Especially after the postponement last week.  I'm going to do everything I can to keep this FET on schedule.  So I sent them another message and a little while later one of the nurses called me.  My heart dropped when I saw the clinic calling.  I was expecting bad news that I wasn't able to progress or something... I don't know why she didn't just send me an online message.  Not that I don't appreciate the personal approach haha.  Long story short, she said I can begin taking my 4 mg of Estradiol today, 2 pills AM/2 pills PM.  She said something about my RE signing off on things from home yesterday evening because I had a late afternoon appointment and it didn't go through into the system or something.  I noticed today that my blood work and US results from yesterday haven't posted yet either, but she told me to just keep checking for them.  They should go through when the doctor signs off on them.

Now onto more waiting until my next monitoring appt next Thursday!

My appointment went well.  We signed our consent paperwork to transfer our two highly graded embryos and keep our third in the freezer for now (hopefully we won't need it)!

So far my calendar looks like this:

-Labs/ultrasound on 6/21 and start Lupron
    -Endometrial scratch on 6/22
    -Stop birth control on 6/23

When AF comes I'll get the dates to start my estrogen shots and patches.

Tentative transfer date is still 7/19.  I'm so excited to get this process started.

@joneser1281 have your read Big Little Lies?  That was a good one.

daisy222-2:  Welcome!  So many congrats on your 2 normies!!  Such wonderful news!  As for my clinic (in CA, not sure if that matters), you can chose which sex you want to transfer.   Although, I only have one, so I don't really have a choice:)  But we chose not to find out the sex; I've always wanted it to be a surprise so I'm hoping no one lets it slip -- I've heard of that happening!  My blast is a Day 6, so I know there are some stories about later ones being girls (or boys?  It always changes!).  I would love a girl, but I suppose I will just have what I am supposed to have:)

Funny, but I was supposed to go to Glacier for 4th of July with friends, but had to cancel, as my FET was supposed to be right before that weekend -- and then it got moved to right after that weekend (July 10), so I just can't win!  I feel like I'm "waiting for my real life to begin"......

I have my baseline ultrasound on Monday, so I'm super nervous that my cyst didn't go away and that I will need to delay another month:(  Saying prayers....

Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries
    (2/17) ER: #1:  agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
    (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days:  16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB):  only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal!
    FET on 7/10/17
    Beta on 7/21/17:  Negative:(
    (8/17) ER #3:  9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery.  Done with IVF.

MMD1986 Big Little Lies was the book just as good as the show?  I binged watched that last weekend, even though you can guess the ending in a way, it was still quite entertaining!  congrats on a good appt.

Knottie3527477 i'm so excited your being surprised, no one does it anymore!  I originally wasn't going to find out and it was after (TW) my MC that I had to know if my gut was right.  Knowing it was a girl males it tougher to not get the girl back.  You should know I went to look back at my 5 vs 6 days...and for one cycle it is true a did have girls in day 6 but had them in day 5 too....very interesting theory though!!!

Holls214 keep lounging and treat yourself!

joneser1281 after the day i have even the booze can't help.  Glad you called and didn't wait!  I'm doing this too long when I realized why your stats weren't in yet ;)  glad you're ready to go yay!

AFM: Feeling crushed already  - Not feeling very hopeful for this cycle!  Have a 4AB which that I'm happy about but 2 - 2AB so thats really not great. (my clinics grading goes by the cells they should be for the day. SO day 2, should be a 4, and day 3 should be an 8 etc) Hoping they will perk up tomorrow and get in the game.  This is where I even get frustrated with my faith, you can't give me a few days of hope and then crush my spirits.  This cycle was torture and its not getting any easier.  AND the fact that the icsi one right now is thriving makes me wonder if the other 2 wouldve done better with icsi as well....even though the other icsi egg didn't even fertilize.  UGH I'm so annoyed as I dont make a lot of eggs and fertilization really hasn't been our issue.

  • @MMD1986 ; Hooray!  Glad everything went well and you are on track.  I have never read Big Little Lies, but I did read The Husband's Secret a couple of summers ago by the same author.  I will have to put your suggestion on my summer reading list.  I plan to get at least one more book to take on vacation next month.

@Knottie3527477 That's exciting that you're choosing to be surprised.  I agree with @Hopeful_mom.  It seems like not many people do that anymore.  I know I would want to know haha.  FX for you that the cyst is gonzo!

@Holls214 ; Congrats on your retrieval!  I know, it's so hard to understand why you only get so many.  Just tell yourself there are women who aren't lucky enough to even get that many... That's what I try to do.

@Hopeful_mom What do you mean?  Booze always helps!  Lol.  Wine night was last night... I treated myself to 3 glasses of Pinot Grigio and 1 glass of Chardonnay.  They were small glasses with lots of ice and I drank water in between.  It was nice to have some laughs with my girls.  Try not to get down about the grading.  My clinic has told me many times that those grades are more about describing characteristics (I was told for example comparing brunettes to redheads).  They said they have seen low grades turn into fabulous pregnancies and babies and high grades not work out.  As usual and frustrating, nothing is certain in this game.  I hope they continue to grow for you... Keep us posted!

I am once again pestering my clinic lol.  My blood work results were finally posted yesterday (LH 1.80 and Estradiol 15.97), but my US results were not.  I know the US tech told me my lining was good (about 2.8 or 3), but I still want to see those results.  I'm always paranoid they are not telling me something... I get conspiracy theories lol.  I blame DH haha.  He's always conspiracy theorizing about everything in life haha.  I think maybe my conditions aren't ideal and they are just telling me they are and will let me go through with everything knowing it won't work, just to take more of my money.  LOL!  Show me the results people! :D

  • Hi Ladies!!

Today I shall be a glimmer of HOPE!!  Just got off the phone with my RE she called after my lengthy email from yesterday  :D  I promise she wants me to become preggers as much as me so she doesn't have to deal with me anymore!!

OK so today everything is still growing - even my 4th egg had late fertilization and is a cell 4 today...is it a long shot sure BUT for today all 4 of my embabies are still in it.  Today is day 3 and they should be between 6-10cell,  Now I have 2 that are at 8, a 5 and now a 4 :)  Today I am breathing easier.  I doubt I will get an update over the weekend so its probably Monday that I will here who has made it for testing!!  Really praying hard they all continue on!!

joneser1281 glad you enjoyed wine night!!  I think we psych ourselves out thinking the worst ALL THE TIME, i do it BUT lets try not to!  Funny my DH is the opposite I'm the one always over thinking.  He doesn't entertain me and just waits for the call AND as long as i'm not crying then he doesn't want to know.

@Knottie3527477 you should know i came to post here first for what you said about girl embabies - so now i think my princesses are just taking their sweet time to make perfection :) so thanks for that!!

@hopeful_mom I'm so happy you got a glimmer of hope today! Yay!
Got the day 1 update... out of the 12 they retrieved they were all mature, but 1 didn't make it, so we have 11. I asked why we only got 12 if we had 24 and they said some were smaller.
They are doing ICSI on all of them I suppose. Now to patiently wait until the next update which is Sunday. Taking my pain meds and watching shows to pass the time. This bloating is no joke.

  • Hopping on here! I am planning for a July FET, just haven't figured out exactly when yet.

After my failed IVF cycle in April, I had to take a little bit of a break for a hysteroscopy. Because of that, I decided to just give myself a full "break" which basically meant not worrying about anything. I have been exercising a lot (something that always makes my clinic uncomfortable) and drank a lot more alcohol and caffeine than I probably should have. But I just needed a little normalcy, you know?

So where that leaves me is deciding when to do my FET now. As soon as I start my period, I could start protocol, or I can start BCP to give myself a little more time for my body to recover after all the "abuse" last month. I go back and forth every day- some days I think it probably doesn't really matter and the sooner I do this after my hysteroscopy probably the better, and others I feel like I just want to make sure my body is at 100%.

But I *should* be transferring (most likely 2) sometime in July!

    1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN

    May 2017- Hysteroscopy

June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.

    I'm blogging about it here

@Dragonfly6191 we took a break after our hysteroscopy and it was nice too. I started working out more and felt great. Then came the shots and ER. We're doing a frozen cycle so after the recovery from ER I plan on doing the same as you working out and focusing on me until the transfer. Sorry to hear about your failed cycle. Hopefully this one will be the one.

  • @Hopeful_mom I'm so happy for you!  I can't wait to hear what's going on for you Monday... I have a good feeling about all your littles!

@Dragonfly6191 Welcome!  I've never had a hysteroscopy... What does that involve?  I think it's good that you're taking time to yourself and doing "normal" things.  We all deserve normalcy!  I'm with ya though... It was really hard after my surgery in March to not be working out as much as I like to.  I feel like I'm finally getting back to the point where I used to be in terms of my strength and endurance... The bad news is that once it's time for my FET, I always struggle with how much exercise is too much or not enough?  My clinic is kind of wishy washy about it.  They say it's not the time to start a new exercise regimen, but you can continue to do what your body is already conditioned to.  They also say not to workout too hard.  Well the workouts I like to do are I guess sometimes considered a bit much (P90X3), but at the same time, isn't my body conditioned to it?  Or I like to run... No more than 3 miles.  I'm only doing 2.5 at a time right now since my surgery.  I just hate wondering all the time if I'm doing too much, but at the same time if my body is conditioned to it, why is that a problem?

I can also see why you're struggling with when to start your protocol.  Honestly, with me I like to just go ahead and get started.  Every cycle feels like such a long process to me as it is that I want to get going ASAP.  You never know when some sort of roadblock will pop up during the cycle, delaying things further (like what's happened to me).  I mean, I met with my RE on I think May 12th to get things started... and I'm not even transferring until July 3rd.  It's madness to me!  Lol.  Hopefully you'll soon know what the best choice is for you.  I feel like this relates to a topic we've covered in this thread before... I think a good embryo will stick regardless of what we do or don't do to prepare...  But I can understand you wanting to try and give it the best conditions possible with resting your body up before starting.

  • Dragonfly6191 hi and welcome...I was just reading some of your blog, you never felt any side effects from the meds.  Being a runner probably helped with no weight gain!  I've done too many cycles in a row and I've always gained a few extra lbs that stay on.  If you go through this thread you'll see us sharing our med pics as well.  For me I had to do 4 powders of menupor so it always took me while.  As for ur transfer what does ur RE suggest.  If all goes well i'm just finishing my 4th cycle of IVF back to back and then straight to the FET...so I know mine thinks i'm ready to go.  I"m covered with black and blues so we shall see.  BCP isn't part of my protocol.

Joneser1281 its funny listening to everyones hard core workout...i was tempted to the workout you're doing but the issue for me is that I haven't been working out prior at this point and my RE advised against even starting a diet to restricting, nothing different.  SO I find it frustrating!  Shes not telling me to eat a bag of chips either thats on me!  I do light walking etc but thats about it...and cycle after cycle I can't do it!  I'll have to worry about taking off all this IVF weight after the baby... i hate that i gained my baby weight first!!!

@daisy222-2 little girlies. Awe. We're also doing the testing and I for sure want to know too. I'll probably be around the same FET date as you. Fingers crossed! Are you planning anything fun before the FET?
Yes she said the 11 out of the 12 we're cultured... I assume that means fertilized? Well I hope so! I feel like I still don't know much about this process or maybe because the pain meds are making me not think straight today.

  • @Hopeful_mom Ugh that is so frustrating!  When you are in back to back fresh cycles, you definitely have to be careful about your activity because of the danger of overstimulating your ovaries from all of the injections.  I can definitely understand your feelings and would feel the same way... You want to take action to try and lose some weight, but you can't go from 0 to 60 in exercise when you're doing treatment cycles.  But you are still doing some activity by walking and that is a very good thing.  I know for my fresh cycle last summer, I would walk the 2 or so miles instead of my usual running them... and if I did the P90X3 workouts, I would only do the yoga or pilates ones so I wouldn't be straining too much.  You made me laugh with your comment about gaining baby weight before baby... Ain't that the truth!  It will all be worth it when you hold that baby in your arms.  And hey, sometimes you need to eat the bag of chips!  I can take out at least a row in each sitting with a package of Oreos... Nowadays the packages are so small, I can prob eat more than a row!

@daisy222-2 ; Booooo to more Lupron!  That is truly the only med that I've taken through the past year that has caused me noticeable weight gain... Yeah because having endo isn't fun enough on its own!  :p   Well I think you were smart to have the testing done.  If we ever have to do another fresh cycle (please Jesus I hope not though!), I would do the testing... and well, being that I'd be older than 35 it would probably be necessary.  I was at the youthful age of 34 though last summer for the fresh cycle, so maybe that's why it wasn't suggested. :D  For some reason, my RE thinks that I am still quite young at 35 though.  I always look at her like she has two heads when she says stuff to me like that.  Thank you for the positive encouragement though... My RE says the same thing... She strongly feels there is a baby in our group of embies.  Meanwhile I'm thinking there better be at least two babies in there!  Haha.

That is unfortunate that you don't have an online portal to send messages and see lab results... I stalk that shit like I'm Nancy Drew!  Lol.  If I'm waiting on a result, I check it constantly.  Usually I get a text notification when there's something to check on, but I like to keep checking on my own because sometimes things are posted before I actually get the text.  Ugh and what a reason they gave you for not having online access! :s  I would actually think the opposite... They'd avoid more phone calls to their office if the patients could access info online.

I am glad you are staying on track with your calendar!  I can't believe you have no AC... :/  You need a misting fan or something for those flashes haha.  Congrats on your two normal girlies!

  • @daisy222-2  2 normal girlies yay!!!!  how does hubby feel about that?  Remind me you did icsi or regular insemination?  I was all about putting in 2 as well but remember once you do testing many REs like to put only one in as there is a much greater chance for that embaby to stick.  I really tried to eat healthier through out this process and its true when your in the thick of things you're just not in the mood to.  I know its because i'm doing these cycles bac to bac that i'm having even more of a problem.   (TW) i did gain 10/15lbs prior to getting pregnant with the twins and then actually lost the weight as I guess the nauseous starting helping the situation...so by the time of the MC it wasn't so bad and then its like I ballooned from there.  Its crazy!  AND whats worse is the RE is like no you'll only gain a couple of lbs so then I feel even worse, come to learn MANY gain weight so I dont feel as bad that i'm not the only one.  As for my RE doing 1/2 and 1/2 at this point it usually depends on my OH sample, last round they ended up not liking it as much and this month even though it has been crazy for us his sample passed the test to them and let it be.  She called me today and I asked her that again as I thought she told me all icsi, so that what I got.  I agree about the portal as I like to know EVERYTHING and this would save some of the nurses time...but I will say that I am more cooky knowing too!!

joneser1281 I can't stop laughing nancy drew!! so true so true!  and with all ur exercising please eat those cookies!!  I've been a yoyo my entire life so to go so many years to finally "keep it off" makes me a bit batty...but i'm trying as right now thats not the concentration!  Its awesome how encouraging ur RE is!!  i remember mine basically going over the stats and kept reminding me just how old I am.  geez thanks lady, i didn't think I was in such bad shape but now i see i'm doomed and this was when I was 39....I mean 41 i might as well jump off a bridge...kidding BUT its hard.  I keep wondering where was the lesson in school about the clock ticking and low amh etc.  I didn't kno that was a real thing.  My OB at 37 said to get the show on the road but still.  Who needed the career, so glad I bothered as it just went to pay for all of this, so its a wash...shouldve went with just being the younger mom  :D :s I say that but unfortunately I didn't meet the man i actually wanted to have a child with till years later...ugh!!!

  • Hi ladies!  Finally got the FET calendar and my transfer date is set for July 24th!
I'm lame so I just looked up a due date calendar based on that transfer date.  I swear this is not something I should be doing in case it doesn't work!

In the past week, I enjoyed the not-pregnant-yet status by going to a Michelin 3-star restaurant.  Can't eat raw food and fancy meals like that when you are preggers, right ladies?

I told myself to exercise more and eat healthy after the fancy meal, but I have not done either.  I think I'm going to go back to walking ~30 minutes after lunch everyday, and maybe try pilates again.  Walking by far is the easiest form of exercise for me, as I'm not athletic and not the kind of person that loves to move around.  I've started reduced gluten & dairy diet, per acupuncturist' suggestions, we'll see how long I can last.  So far I'm okay.  Love wheat, but I try to eat rice instead.

    Me: 39  DH: 44
Unexplained infertility, polycystic ovaries, insulin resistance
    IVF#1 (10/16): Luteal stim, 22R, 10M, 8F, all lost.
    IVF#2 (12/16): Luteal stim, 15R, 3M + 6M (in vitro), 8F, 5B.  All PGS abnormal.
    IVF#3 (4/17): Long-agonist, 15R, 10M, 10F, 7B. 4 PGS Normal
    FET#1 (7/24/17): 1 embryo, Beta: 143 on 8/2/17!  U/S on 8/18 and 9/1 The baby is doing great.

Finally got the results back from PGS, and SO BLESSED, all 4 remaining (out of 7 day 5 from our fresh cycle) came back normal!!! So hopefully the 3 we already lost were bad ones and that's the reason they didn't work out. Also we have 3 girls 1 boy which is exactly how many names we have picked out (we've always wanted lots of kids) so maybe/hopefully it's a sign!

Day 3 Embryo update. All 11 out of 11 are at least 6-8 cells or better. They did assisted hatching this morning also. The doctor was pretty happy with where we are. At least a bit of stress has gone down now.

@Hopeful_mom Weight gain is frustrating enough on its own, let alone when we know we are purposely doing it to ourselves just to have a baby.  That's a time when I get frustrated.  Why can't I be like normal women and just get PG?  No, I have to take meds, which are doing God knows what to my health, and causing me to gain weight and at times be a miserable moody person.

As for my RE, I don't know if I would call her encouraging lol.  It is nice that she tells me she feels I'm young still, but she doesn't have the greatest bedside manner.  I think she is brilliant... But I also think she is probably socially awkward.  She's not overly friendly and doesn't crack a smile often... Just very serious.  Maybe that's her personality, or maybe she just takes her job very seriously... Which is a good thing I guess.  I think we get so caught up in our IF stress and constantly being at clinics and having procedures, testing, etc. that we forget the REs are people too.  I was reminded of this last summer after my fresh cycle failed and I was waiting on a phone call from my RE to discuss the cycle.  She ended up not calling me in the afternoon like she was supposed to.  I learned later that evening (when she left me a mssg from her cell phone), that she had a cancellation at the clinic that afternoon, so she scooted out to get to a physical therapy appt that she otherwise wouldn't have had time to go to.  I guess she was having an issue with her arm or hand or something (prob from all those retrievals and transfers, haha!).  So while I was angry and felt she left me hanging, it was nice of her to call me in the evening (which I missed because I wasn't expecting to hear from her after office hours).  I ended up catching up with her a day or so after... I was even at work and she said I could call whenever I had some free time and have the nurses pull her out of what she was doing to talk to me.  I guess it was just a reminder that doctors are people too, dealing with their own issues, while also trying to help us.

I hear you though on not being ready for children until a certain point in life.  DH and I started dating when I was 24 and got married when I was 27.  Our original plan was to start TTC after 2 years of marriage, but I pushed that plan back a year.  We had just bought a house that needed some work and to be honest, I was enjoying it just being us at the time.  That's a decision I will always regret!  That was before I knew it would be five years later and we'd still not have a baby!  I always tease him though and say it's not my fault he didn't have his shit together earlier on so we could've gotten together sooner haha.  Some things just can't be helped.  Hang in there gf!

@cashewchicken ; Congrats on getting a transfer date!  You'll have to tell me how you figured out your due date... I think about stuff like that too, even though it's way too early haha.  I'm glad you treated yourself to a good meal!  Live it up I say!

@nmtay Congrats on your normies!  This time it's gotta work!

@Holls214 ; That's awesome that all of yours are still in the game!  I will not be nervous that we didn't test ours... I will not be nervous that we didn't test ours... Lol.

So yesterday DH and I went to a baseball game.  It was hot as balls out!  I'm tellin ya 92 degrees... We did some tailgating with my brothers, cousins, and some friends.  I'm telling myself that was my last hurrah for drinking a good bit.  My FET is two weeks from tomorrow.  It was so freaking hot though, I think I immediately sweated out anything consumed.  I am a big water drinker anyway and even though I was drinking a ton of it yesterday (I would drink a beer or two and then a bottle of water), I just felt like I was retaining water like no one's business yesterday.  Does the Estradiol have anything to do with that?  I stopped drinking beer before we even went into the game and drank countless waters after that and ugh... I just felt so bloated with no urge to pee (unless I just went and of course I could go) and the skin on my legs and feet just felt so tight.  I guess it could've just been the extreme heat, but I was just wondering if the meds could also contribute.  I've been taking my pills at 9 AM and 9 PM and it figures, I set myself an alarm to take them last eve at the game, and forgot them in the car!  So I didn't end up taking them until after 11 when we got back to the car.  I hate when that happens... I guess it's not so much of a big deal before the FET, but after if that happens... I freak myself out so bad that if I mess up a dose it's going to ruin the transfer results.  See, I'm kookie too, @Hopeful_mom lol.

@joneser1281 sounds like you had fun yesterday though! I need a good fun day like that. I'm still not feeling normal after my ER which my doctor said was normal since I created 24 eggs.
I feel you on waiting to have kids until it was right. My husband and I have been together 10 years. We decided to wait until we had some money saved and bought a house. Now 4 years later we are still here. Sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't have waited but I feel like we are more stable now and even though it sucks going through this it is what it is... I have seen a lot of friends who had kids earlier in life either divorced or unhappy so I guess that makes me feel a bit better.
Transfer dates are coming up for a lot of you! Exciting! Ours will be sometime in July.

  • I do want to ask. I am now on my estradiol and I am addicted to watermelon. I have never had watermelon in my life. I do not know what is going. My estradiol is patch and virginal (three times a day). Have any one experienced similar thing? Getting addicted to something now.....this early.

@nmtay- Congrats on 4 PGS normals! Hope you get your 3 girls and a boy! I have 2 girl and 2 boy embies but I'm just hoping to get one of each after this infertility journey.  My husband is wishing for 3 kids, but I'm too old to have that many!

@Holls214-Congrats on 11 out of 11 making it this far!  I also retrieved many and in two of the cycles it took me about a week to feel normal again.  Cramps went away after the first day but the next six days or so I still felt my ovaries (wouldn't say pain, but more bloating).  Drink lots of fluid, my RE said to drink enough liquid until your urine is colorless.

    @joneser1281- I found the calendar here: http://www.ivf.ca/fet5dayduedate.php

I also waited to start a family.  I started dating my husband soon after I turned 25, so yeah, we've been together for 14 years now.  But in my defense, I went back to school to get my doctorate (which took a loooong time complete), and also wanted to focus on my career first.  And to be honest, my biological clock didn't really start ticking until maybe two years ago, about a year after TTC on our own without any success.  I do have some regrets about not starting TTC sooner, but I have my own timelines and I feel stressed and overwhelmed when I'm forced to do anything I don't feel emotionally ready to do, so it is what it is.

@adaoga0616 - Welcome! I've never heard of watermelon addiction caused by estrogen patch.  I'm already addicted to watermelon so I wonder what will happen when I start using the patch in a few weeks...

@Hopeful_mom- Hey my cycle buddy, hoping that all 4 of your embies make it to the blast stage!  Would be nice to add more PGS-normal embryos to the four you have already!  Do you know the gender of your embies? Or do you want to keep it a surprise? For two seconds, I didn't want to know but the scientist in me wanted ALL the information, so now I know.

@cashewchicken thanks! No update until Tuesday. I hate all this waiting around... you said you are doing a reduced gluten and dairy diet? Is that more dairy or dairy free? My transfer date should be right around yours. I need to do something for the next month.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18.
  • joneser1281 are you sure we dont have the same RE!!  My OH thinks I should switch to one of the other RE as he is super pleasant with a better bedside manner....funny OH is pushing me to see the male RE, go figure.  How many frosties do u have left??  I know testing is hard and you had a great response I think its a tough call for sure!!  However looking at your siggy I think you have some pretty strong contenders and the bfp is coming!!  as for calculating your due date i'm obsessed, i have to stop.  I do it for others too!
You're really in the tww fun wait now...is it getting real yet?  I"m actually jealous of you ladies finding some enjoyment throughout all this, as you should!!  Life also gets in the way for me and I just haven't had the time.  I can't believe how much you drank at the game I think I wouldve been living in the bathroom for most of it.  My OH hates going on long drives as I need to stop at so many rest stops on the way to tinkle and I drink maybe a bottle or 2 of water.  I think he's nervous for what this means for the future as I get older they say you really you can't hold it, oh boy  :D
The weight gain sucks and I haven't been this heavy in almost a decade so thats frustrating me to no end too.  Some days i'm terrible and get why but other days i'm so healthy theres really no reason to the madness here.  Some others are gaining a couple lbs but aren't doing back, to back to back cycles so maybe they aren't putting on as much and there body has time to come back to itself.
And I can't lie, I play the why me game too!!!  Its so annoying!  Its not like this is the only obstacle in my life and everything else has just been so hunky dory I need this too - seriously!!  I actually saved and saved for so long as one i'm a freelancer and you never know when your next job is SO you need to always watch the $$ and two for a long while I was thinking of doing it on my own as I wasn't with anyone I would want to have a child with so I was just saving to support us....and here I am spending it all...so now what.  AND what about the romance of actually making that baby!  All that is so out the window!!

@nmtay I'm so excited for your normies, you tested after or this batch was from another cycle?

adaoga0616 welcome!  best of luck on your transfer!  As for the watermelon not sure...I did have a bunch the other day but I think its just cause it was fresh and cold from my moms fridge...but enjoy its not like its bad for you!

cashewchicken hi GF - wonder where you've been hiding - sounds like you've been out livin the good life, good for you :) Cause you're getting so old that you better do it now HAHA!!!  Come on 2 kids 3 kids, just go for it mama!!  You have siblings?? I do and I always thought I would have more then one...now who the hell knows anymore!! I'm praying so hard I can add some normies to this cycles as would you believe that all 4 are the same gender!!  2 separate cycles and I get the same, what are the odds.  I know some people differ but I always thought I would have both so to go into this knowing that part is even taken away from me is hard!  You can laugh with my fresh transfer I originally wasn't finding out, i first guess boy/girl but as time continued on I really started thinking 2 girls.  It was first after (TW) the MC that I did the testing and have to know, I had peace and sadness knowing I for sure had one girl and then others looking at US thought both girls.  Now having to do the testing i'm all about knowing EVERYTHING about everything...Really praying my miracle normies of greatness are in this round!  AND I'm all about knowing my due date all the time!!
I'm listening to ur advice on how I still feel like poop, probably shouldnt have mixed chocolate chip cookies with all the water i should be having to cleanse out my system ;)

Holls214 so if things keep progressing this lovely are you going with the fresh transfer??  Side note i'm actually surprised at how crappy I still feel, my body is so achy!  And I had a few follies and I'm still in pain so i'm sure youre still not feeling cute!!

FATHERS DAY QUESTION: How was fathers day for everyone?  Do you find OH is moody or acts like he doesn't care?  My day was a mess of things and my OH has kids so this question doesn't pertain to me BUT I know on mothers day people on here were not happy so I wonder if it effects the men as much!

AFM: Today technically would be day 5 for my embabies but because its sunday I really didn't think I would get a call and to my delight the head of the embabies dept. gave me a call.  In a crazy frustrating day I got a glimmer of hope!!  One is ready for testing and the others are still in it...shes hoping to get one or two more tomorrow.....praying with everything they will pull through!!  If you've been following my grading you will find it interesting that the first that made it to blast was a regular fert and originally was a 2AB on day 2 and just perked right up...so praying that is a normie fighter right there!!

@Hopeful_mom so happy to hear all of them are still in it! FX for good news for you tomorrow or Tuesday! We're doing genetic testing so no fresh for us. Really hoping we get some good news on day 5 which is Tuesday.
My hubby didnt say anything about Father's Day but he's not a very emotional guy. You always wonder if they think about it. Can't wait to hear another update! You are doing frozen right?! And yes still feeling crappy... hoping to start to feel better in the next day or two. :)

  • @Hopeful_mom- Yay! Hopefully more embies reach the blast stage tomorrow!  Two kids will be great for me, I think. Heck, at this point, I'll even just take one!  I have a sister and I never felt I wanted more siblings.  She is perfect.  My husband on the other hand grew up with two siblings, so he always liked the idea of having three kids.  Of course, that was before we started on our TTC journey three years ago.  Now he's like me, two will be great, but let's start with one.

Wow all four normies are the same gender?  I recall one of the papers that talked about higher ratio of boys in embryos that received high grades.  Though mine was kind of split right down in the middle though (both boys and girls had similar morphology grades).

  • cashewchicken the funny thing is that originally I thought I could just make girls and then it wasn't till cycle 5 that i made a boy or 2 ;)  Before cycle 6 my girl embabies were in the lead, after cycle 6 the boys pulled ahead...so this cycle will see who wins  :D  It hurts that i MC a normal girl  :(  You feel like its your fault.

  • I wanted to know what most people are doing after their transfer. I am doing relaxation therapy after and then off for 6 days, putting myself on bed rest and just to relax and not over do it. I wonder if that is okay? We are transferring two and I just want it to be okay.
  •
  • @Holls214 It was a fun day!  You definitely deserve one for yourself.  I totally agree with you in that you can't rush something you don't feel is yet right.  I do feel like everything that DH and I have been through to this point has made us stronger as a couple.  Even though at times I felt like IF was going to break us emotionally, I definitely think our marriage is in a better place than it was 5 years ago when we started TTC.  Maybe this is all in God's plan.  It freakin better be lol.  I hope you start feeling better soon.

@cashewchicken ; Thanks for the link!  I always wonder how to figure that stuff out, being that it's not a regular cycle.  Now I can obsess over that too haha.  I agree with you too.  I regret we didn't start TTC sooner, but I too can't do anything until I'm emotionally ready.  I can actually remember when we got the CP after two months of TTC on our own... I was a nervous wreck because I couldn't believe it happened so fast.  Wishful thinking!  Well I'm definitely ready now.

@Hopeful_mom ; That is funny!  We have 6 frosties left... Four 4AA, one 3AA and one 3AB.  It sounds like some of you gals have different grading systems, as you've mentioned 6 cells, 8 cells, etc.  Those types of grades at my clinic indicate day 3 cleavage stage embryos.  Ours are day 5 blastocyst embryos, which have a different grading system.  Is that similar at all to your grading?  My best one to transfer day 5 from my fresh cycle was 2AB... I remember being kinda bummed at the time, but one of the embryologists told me it was a beautiful embryo... and it actually did better than the frozen 4AA we transferred in the fall!  Maybe that fresh one would have stuck had I not had the endo we didn't know about?  Who knows!  I was laughing at your peeing issues... I have to go often usually as well, which was why I was a little worried at the game when I didn't really have to go, despite all I was drinking.  Oh well.  I'm chalking it up to the extreme heat and the Estradiol.  I did see somewhere online that water retention is a side effect.  I'm not sure how reputable the site was though haha.  Oh and there is no romance here either anymore with BD.  Yet another thing IF robs us of!  I can imagine your body has been through hell with back to back cycles.  Glad your embies are doing well!

As for Father's Day, I know DH was a little down.  He didn't really act it, but he did make the comment about all of the stuff on social media making him feel like crap.  I can't really say it affected his mood though, which was good.  Sometimes I feel like even more than for myself, I want to be able to tell him things worked for once.  I just want to see him so happy to finally be becoming a dad.

AFM, I'm kind of having a down day.  I have not been sleeping well at all lately.  I think it's anxiety, but I always wonder if the Estradiol could be keeping me up at night?  I had the same issue the last time that I took it in the fall.  I figured it was anxiety, but it was so annoying.  Now it's more of the same.  I'm really tired, but I can't fall asleep and I can't stay asleep.  It's making me go through my days like a depressed zombie!  I also think that I strained my chest last week... I have a history of costochondritis... It's super annoying.  I brought it on once years ago when I overdid a workout and now it's more easy to aggravate by doing less strenuous things.  I would love to tell you that I aggravated it this time by a workout, but sadly no.  I really think it was when I was just sitting and I reached for something at an odd angle and twisted wrong.  Pitiful!  It's not so painful this time, but it's like having an uncomfortable tightness in my chest... Which could also be anxiety as well.  I'm going to try taking some Tylenol or Advil before bed tonight to see if that helps calm me and maybe soothe some of the discomfort so that I can sleep.  I will also add that DH snores like a buzz saw, so this may be a futile effort at sleep lol.

  • I keep having to stay away for several days b/c of work and other things, and then so much has happened!  All good news, I think!

@joneser1281 one different thing about this current round of Lupron Depot is that I am on BCP at the same time. (A no estrogen version called norethindrone.) RE says this will minimize symptoms like hot flashes. Were you ever on BCP w/ your  Lupron depot? So far I feel fine, but its only been 4 days.  Your comment about your RE being serious with no bedside manner made me laugh, I feel like I would like that more than my guy. He likes to small talk WAY too long into our appointments. I'm like, I only get to meet with you every few months, and its $200 a pop, I don't want to talk about bullshit like the weather or lawn care or holiday plans. I want to talk about my follicles/embryos/paranoia, etc.!

@Hopeful_mom ; We did ICSI on all. RE said that in order to do PGS testing they all needed to be ICSI-ed...I wonder if this is true?  Something about how if there are stray sperm attached, it can mess up the testing (additional DNA hanging around).  Has anyone done genetic testing on non-ICSI embryos?   Super wonderful that all of your are still in the game (unless I missed an update? did you get an update today?)

cashewchicken Walking is also my go-to exercise. The only one I actually do regularly. I like to listen to podcasts during, and then before I know it an hour has passed. I could probably be more athletic about walking (go faster), and not stop to look at people's pretty flowers and pet their friendly cats, lol.

nmtay, wow, so amazing they are all normal! Great job, both of you ;)

adaoga0616 after transfer, my clinic says 2 days bedrest (some moving around ok, but try to stay laying down as much as possible.) Then back to normal but still no intense exercise until after the pregnancy test.

My RE said an interesting thing about embryo growth at our last appt that I wanted to see if anyone else had heard, because I can't remember exactly which way it went! He said that, if an embryo stops growing at some point on the sway to becoming a freezable blast, WHEN it stops tells you what the likely issue was as far as egg vs sperm quality. I think, that if it stops growing on days 1-3, its more likely issues with the egg whereas if it stops growing on days 4-6 it might be the sperm. Or maybe the other way around! Anyone else hear this? The internet is inconclusive on this, per usual. :s
