What do you think of the name Swearinger?

Looking for baby boy names! Sister is Elodie Brielle <3

Re: What do you think of the name Swearinger?

  • I didn't know it's a name.

I googled it and apparently it's a surname of an American football player (I'm not American, so I have no clue when it comes to American football). I vote no. There are multiple reasons, but I'm going to focus on the 'swear' part in Swearinger. It's not something I'd recommend you to bestow upon your child.

    How about:
    Sullivan
    James
    Everett/Rhett

Never heard of it but it makes me think "swear" and seems like a mouthful.  If it's a family name I'd suggest using it in the middle name spot.

  • I really don't like it. Too much of a mouthful. I like pp suggestion of Sullivan.  It would help if you gave an idea of length and sound of your last name and maybe some names you like or have considered

  • You a Washington redskins fan?

its a totally random surname and Swear in what stands out on it. Some surnames can work this cannot and next to a classic and classy name like elodie it looks really weird.

I agree Sullivan is a nice alternative or

    Harrison
    Sawyer
    Warren
    Russell
    Parker
    Lincoln
    Malcolm

  • Yeah, it's a no from me too.

    I like the suggestions
    Sullivan
    Warren
    Russell

    And adding

    Julian
    Alistair
    Calder
    Lawrence
  • I swear I don't like it.
Much better suggestions from previous posters.

  • No. lots of good suggestions.
  • I love surname names, but this is just bad. I don't think you want a name that starts with swear. Surname suggestions: Sutton Shepard Carter Deacon Lincoln Walker Grant
  • If it's a meaningful family name, by all means use it as a middle. But don't use it as a fn. Too much.
  • It is pretty terrible as a first name. Stick it in the middle name spot if it has a really important meaning to you and if it doesn't just skip it.

  • No, no, no. If it means a lot to you use it as a middle name. Your kids nick name will be Swear.
  • I think it is dreadful.

My question would be is the g hard or soft? That's unclear upon first glance.  Where does your inspiration for this name come from?
